Yulia Putintseva hits back at Maria Sakkari after heated row at Wimbledon warm-up event
Sakkari edged out Putintseva 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) in a tight battle but there was little respect to be seen between the two opponents, throwing insults at each other in a feisty on-court squabble that went viral.
Putintseva appeared to take issue with Sakkari after match point, telling her to 'go f**k yourself' after giving her a half-hearted handshake at the net.
Greek player Sakkari responded by telling Putintseva that 'nobody likes you' while seemingly pointing to the locker room, before saying 'when you shake hands with someone, you look them in the eyes'.
The former World No 3 followed this up in her court interview, saying: "I don't think she's going to invite me for dinner for the rest of our lives, but I don't care.
"I have very good friends and I'll go to dinner with them. Let me leave it here, and just say that I have respect for her as a player, but that's it."
However, Putintseva opted not to keep the unpleasantries on the grass, taking to Instagram to have the final word.
'By the way - not that I care - I shook her hand as most women do,' she wrote on her Instagram story. 'Clearly not according to the 'hugging protocol' some men seem to follow."
She also reposted a video by The Tennis Pulse Emma Raducanu and Martina Trevisan.
The Kazakh accompanied the video with the caption: 'And the plot thickens', alongside a clown emoji.

Aug 2 (Reuters) - Twice defending champion Jessica Pegula crashed out of the Canadian Open after losing to Anastasija Sevastova 3-6 6-4 6-1 in the third round on Friday, while six-times major winner Iga Swiatek marched on with a dominant 6-2 6-2 win over Eva Lys. The 35-year-old Sevastova, ranked 386 in the world, will next face four-times Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka, who took out Latvian 22nd seed Jelena Ostapenko 6-2 6-4. "I don't know," Sevastova said after upsetting third seed Pegula. "Somehow, I was down 2-0 in the second set and started to play better and better. Third set, I played really good. Just trying to stay on the court as long as possible." Here are some of my standouts (plus a few to come). I've loved Netflix series Sirens, set on an East Coast beach estate – and not just for its plot. In her role as powerhouse Michaela Kell, actress Julianne Moore's wardrobe made my eyes water with happiness. Think puffy-sleeved Proenza Schouler tops, one-sleeved dresses by The Row, wafty Chloé pieces and a Khaite leather jacket (which Moore ended up buying). As a long-time fan of the late Jane Birkin, I watched the sale of the first Hermès Birkin bag – once owned and battered by the legendary star – with huge interest. When it sold for a staggering £7.4 million to Japanese luxury fashion retailer Valuence, I knew if Jane were alive today, she'd have been most amused. I, meanwhile, was not amused when the disastrous PR shots from the Ryan Murphy drama about Carolyn Bessette Kennedy – another fashion heroine of mine – landed. Sorry, Ryan, but you totally underestimated the importance of her wardrobe and flung any old thing on the actress Sarah Pidgeon, resulting in the internet going into meltdown. Blokes and fashion, eh? Also making the headlines was the news that US Vogue editor Anna Wintour was retiring, which spread like wildfire… only for it to turn out that she wasn't bowing out at all. She has been at every major fashion event since – typical of Wintour to do things, including 'retiring', her way. As for moments to come, next month's new series of Apple TV+'s The Morning Show will definitely be one of them, thanks to its power-dressing – as well as French actress Marion Cotillard joining the cast. And with the Beckham/Peltz fallout big news, Prime's new show The Girlfriend, also out next month, is super-timely due to its tale of the toxic dynamics between an overprotective mother (Robin Wright) and her son's mysterious partner. Plus, the outfits look amazing. @youmagazine If French Riviera style floats your boat, check out Paper London's new style collaboration with Saint-Tropez hotel Arev. This navy sweatshirt from the collection is très joli. Jumper ON THE FRINGE The tassel necklace has become a popular unexpected accessory of choice this summer. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is a fan. For her new romantic movie Good Sex, which is set in New York, actress Natalie Portman (right), 44, has been seen in her role as a couples' therapist wearing a Prada blouse and holding a Jacquemus Calinou bag. Meanwhile in Ibiza, actress Margot Robbie was spotted on holiday clutching its round Spiaggia raffia tote.
