Opposing WNBA teams often move their home games against the Fever to larger arenas, as Clark constantly breaks viewership records. Further, one industry source told The Athletic that Clark is estimated to be worth around $1 billion to the WNBA. Advertisement Clark's popularity helped the league ink a media rights deal valued at about $2.2 billion, and it may also play a massive role in putting WNBA players in a prime position to earn higher salaries in the next CBA. WNBA players opted out of the current deal and may hold out if an agreement isn't reached by the end of the 2025 season, according to ESPN. While Clark and the rest of the WNBA are likely to receive salaries that exceed the current range of around $64,000-$250,000, it isn't uncommon for posts online to generate buzz among fans. On Tuesday, a comparison between the salaries of Clark ($78,000) and Phoenix Suns center Mason Plumlee ($3.6 million) sparked a significant discussion about the compensation of WNBA players. "Pay those females what they're worth Caitlin is 20x better then Manson Bumlee even on her worst days," wrote one fan. Nike shares are continuing their post-earnings rally Tuesday, aided by the company's release of a sneaker in collaboration with WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark. Nike stock is now up 17% from where it closed Thursday, when the brand released results that topped expectations. Shares still may have room to grow as the brand focuses on tapping demand for women's sportswear and shoes, Jefferies fever hasn't broken. Shares of the sneaker giant extended their post-earnings climb with a 3% advance Tuesday, a day after the company released a shoe with WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark. The $190 sneakers—featuring colors that reference the guard's Indiana Fever jersey—"instantly" sold out, Jefferies wrote in a research note Monday. After markets closed last Thursday, Nike (NKE) reported fourth-quarter results that beat analysts' expectations. Shares soared 15% Friday and—after ending 1% lower yesterday—resumed their ascent Tuesday, with Jefferies analysts noting that "buzz" about the shoes suggests that shares may still have room to grow. The brand is tapping into the burgeoning women's sportswear market, the analysts said, and after releasing a new Kobe V prototype with Clark, Nike and the WNBA star are planning an "upcoming signature shoe release [that] could be even more impactful." "Nike's latest moves signal a bold bet on women, tapping into one of its fastest-growing segments within sport and unlocking fresh upside across its [8-billion-person total addressable market]," Jefferies wrote. Women's basketball is becoming increasingly popular, with Jefferies noting WNBA viewership jumped 31% year-over-year and game attendance soared 48% in 2024. Women's shoes and sportswear sales are expected to outpace men's over the next five years, it added. Jefferies has a $115 price target on Nike stock, well above the $77 average among analysts covering it tracked by Visible Alpha. Shares are trading around $73 Tuesday afternoon, and remain down 3.5% this year as the brand mounts a turnaround campaign.
