Abu Dhabi to Salalah, Oman
Launching: May 21, 2026 (Etihad)
Etihad will launch flights to Salalah starting twice weekly (on Sundays and Thursdays), increasing to daily from mid-June to mid-September. The southern Omani city is a rare summer oasis in the Arabian Peninsula, famous for its Khareef monsoon season, when misty mountains and waterfalls transform the landscape into a lush escape.
Abu Dhabi to Krakow, Poland
Launching: June 16, 2026 (Etihad)
Krakow service with Etihad will include flights operating three times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) until September 5. Known for its medieval Old Town, Gothic churches and cafe-lined squares, Krakow also provides access to Poland's Tatra Mountains.

Sheikh Mohamed's talks with Al Shara show commitment to Syria's progress, Dr Anwar Gargash says
, diplomatic adviser to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed, on Tuesday spoke of the importance of Syrian President Ahmad Al Shara's visit to the Emirates as his country rebuilds after more than a decade of civil war. Talks between Sheikh Mohamed and Mr Al Shara in Abu Dhabi on Monday came at a "pivotal stage" in Syria's history, Dr Gargash said on X. Sheikh Mohamed set out the UAE's "steadfast support" for the Syrian people and all efforts to promote development and stability in the country, during discussions at Al Shati Palace. The Syrian leader expressed his thanks to Sheikh Mohamed for the UAE's support and his commitment to bolstering ties between the nations. Dr Gargash said the meeting – the second between the two leaders in the UAE since Mr Al Shara came to power – embodied "the depth of fraternal relations and affirms the UAE's commitment to Syria's success in this pivotal stage". "The economic and developmental axis was at the core of this meeting, while the inspiring success of the large Syrian community in the UAE, numbering approximately 400,000 people, represents one of the keys to co-operation and the UAE's pivotal role," said Dr Gargash, who was among the Emirati delegation at the meeting. "Economic and developmental success is capable of setting Syria on the path to recovery and prosperity." Mr Al Shara, who led the Hayat Tahrir Al Sham rebel group that ousted Syria's former president Bashar Al Assad, is looking to improve relations with Arab neighbours and Gulf states following the civil war. During his first trip to the UAE April, he wads received by Sheikh Mohamed, who pledged support for Syria's reconstruction.

Mideast Stocks: Gulf stocks mixed on US tariff uncertainty
Gulf equities ended mixed on Tuesday, with investors exercising caution over U.S. trade policies after President Donald Trump announced steep import levies on several trading partners and pushed the tariff deadline to August 1. While Gulf economies were spared from immediate measures, Trump had earlier announced plans to impose an additional 10% tariff on countries aligning with the "anti-American policies" of the BRICS bloc, which includes the UAE. Saudi Arabia, while not a BRICS member, attended a BRICS meeting in April. Saudi Arabia's benchmark index dropped 0.5%, ending a four-day winning streak as most sectors closed in red. ACWA Power Company slid 3.4%, while Al Rajhi Bank fell 0.2%. Oil prices - a catalyst for the Gulf's financial markets -retreated after gaining nearly 2% in the previous session on tariff concerns and a higher-than-expected increase in OPEC+ output planned for August. Dubai's main share index lost 0.1%, after reaching a 17-year peak the previous day, with blue-chip developer Emaar Properties dropping 0.7%. In Abu Dhabi, the index was marginally up.
