Robin Propper's exact Twente contract details revealed as Rangers exit fast tracked with final hurdle cleared

The defender is finally set to end a long-running saga and seal a £1.5m move back to the Netherlands Out of favour Robin Propper looks set to finally complete his move back to FC Twente with a bumper four-year deal on the table. ‌ The defender was left out of Rangers ' Champions League win against Panathinaikos during the week and is expected to complete a medical at Enschede, ahead of a £1.5million transfer. ‌ His move from Ibrox after just a year was held up due to a reported stalemate between the player and Rangers about the remaining time of his contract, because he would be on a less lucrative deal in the Netherlands. But the Eredivisie club now appear to have resolved the issue by offering the 31-year-old a longer deal and he will end his unsuccessful spell at Ibrox. Propper played 115 matches for Twente between 2021 and 2024 and was the club's captain. However, he failed to nail down a regular spot at Rangers, despite scoring in an Old Firm win against Celtic in January and he only started 22 league games. And he will finally seal a departure as Russell Martin continues his rebuilding process at Rangers. Alexander Isak future: PIF intervene as Newcastle chairman takes control

The decision on Alexander Isak's future will be made by chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan and PIF as the club continue to insist the striker is not for sale. Telegraph Sport understands it will be up to PIF, Saudi Arabia's public investment fund, to decide what happens next in this complex saga, but so far there has been a defiant reaction to claims Isak would like to consider his options in light of interest from Liverpool. The Premier League champions made it known last week they would be willing to pay a British record £120m for the Sweden international. That would be well below Newcastle's valuation of the player which is in excess of £150m. Liverpool have not yet made a formal bid for the player although that could change in the coming days as they look to test Newcastle's resolve to keep the 27-year-old. Newcastle have explored a possible deal to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, who has been a long-term target, in the last few days but it is not known whether this would be as a replacement for Isak or to play alongside him next season. Al-Rumayyan's direct involvement is unusual at Newcastle, with the chairman normally taking a backseat in the day-to-day running of the club. But given the significance of the decision on Isak, who still has three years left on his contract and has been told he is not for sale this summer, PIF want to take the lead rather than leave it up to the manager. Eddie Howe and his players landed in Singapore in the early hours of Friday morning for their pre-season tour, having been completely blind-sided by reports Isak wanted to explore his options. The player had informed team-mates and coaching staff that he was injured at the start of the week and there appeared to be bemusement from fellow players that a bombshell had been dropped while they were travelling to the Far East. 'I'm really close to him. He's a good guy. He's been through some rough things at this moment,' club captain Bruno Guimaraes said. 'My focus is with the lads. Isak is something I cannot control. The club has control of it. 'I hope he's going to be fit when we come back to Newcastle to prepare for the new season. 'They told us he was there in Newcastle because of his injury. Of course he's a top player for us and he's going to be a miss on this trip. 'We need him ready as soon as possible.' Dan Burn said added: 'Listen, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. But I think we can just control what we can control. 'That's a question for Alex to answer. He's obviously a big player for us, but we do have a lot of quality in the squad as well. 'Bringing Anthony [Elanga] in as well, which I think was a great signing.'

Newcastle team-mates look forward to Alexander Isak return ‘when he's fit'

The Sweden international did not travel with the rest of the Magpies squad for a pre-season tour of Asia, with the club stating this was due to a minor thigh injury. Hours later reports emerged that Isak, who has been linked with a big-money move to Liverpool, had told club executives he wanted to look at a transfer away from St James' Park. Burn, speaking from Singapore ahead of Newcastle's match against Arsenal on Sunday, told Sky Sports News: 'If we lost any player it would upset a tight-knit group that's been together for two or three years now. 'Obviously any player that leaves, it doesn't help, but from our point of view (we have to) just control what we can control. 'At the moment we're looking forward to getting Alex back when he's fit.' Brazilian midfielder Guimaraes added: 'We want to keep our best players. (Isak) is not here because he's in treatment in Newcastle. 'He is a top striker, his (record over the) last three seasons speaks by itself, he's a top player. But as far as I know he just stayed there because of his injury, his treatment with the club.' Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer said the club had made themselves look 'ridiculous' by citing injury as the reason for Isak's absence. The club have yet to comment on reports Isak has asked to leave. Isak scored 23 goals for Newcastle last season and still has three years left on his current contract.
