India's triumph over Pakistan: From military dominance to economic growth
India launched Operation Sindoor, a meticulously planned, calibrated and non-escalatory military operation to destroy nine major launchpads of the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This dealt a blow to Pakistan's terror apparatus and neutralised high-value targets, such as Yusuf Azhar, a senior JeM operative and brother-in-law of Jaish-e-Mohammed founder Masood Azhar, wanted for the 1999 IC814 hijacking and the Pulwama attack. The key terror camps were in Muridke and Bhawalpur, which were reduced to rubble. The strikes were so precise that they avoided military facilities to minimise the risk of escalation or any civilian casualties and neutralised over 100 terrorists. These camps are known to the international intelligence community as well. The Indian Navy kept its Pakistan counterpart at bay and confined it to its coastal waters.
Striking at the heart
Thereafter, when Pakistan launched a swarm of drones and missiles targeting Indian cities, religious places, and educational institutions, they were ably intercepted and destroyed by our air defence system. As a reprisal, India, in a coordinated attack, struck at Pakistan's heart, read air bases, military infrastructure and air defence systems. India struck 11 major Pakistani air force bases at Noor Khan in Chaklala, Rafike, Murid, Sukur, Sialkot, Pasroor, Chunian, Sargodha, Skardu, Bhulari and Jacobabad. We also attacked their command centres, logistic hubs, drone launchpads and aircraft shelters. Noor Khan is Pakistan's key logistical artery in Rawalpindi. Rafike and Sargodha are major hubs of the PAF, Skardu is a launchpad for its high-altitude operations, Chunian and Pasroor are staging grounds for drone sorties and Bhulari and Jacobabad are forward deployment bases critical for rapid mobilisation. India shattered Pakistan's frontline air defences and crippled its combat readiness.
The Pakistani army also suffered significant casualties with 35 to 40 jawans killed. We could achieve precise pinpoint hits because we have digital maps and have surveyed every area of this region. Our indigenous NavIC satellite system, the Al-enabled Akash Teer and BrahMos, proved most effective. We downed most of their drones reportedly with our legacy guns that were upgraded to modern systems. It is all thanks to the Prime Minister's Atmanirbhar Bharat effort that we displayed this high level of proficiency in technology which has taken the world aback. With their military infrastructure shattered and demolished, this was sufficient damage to break rogue state Pakistan's back and get them to request for a ceasefire. It is surprising that everyone wants evidence of Pakistan's involvement because it is an evil master of denial. They denied having anything to do with the Mumbai attacks that killed 175 people on November 26, 2008, till Ajmal Kasab was caught alive. They even denied knowing where Osama Bin Laden was until he was found in a military encampment not far from a Pakistani airbase.
Two-fold purpose achieved
National interest now demands that having achieved our objective, our focus is on taking our economy further forward, an economy that is one of the fastest growing in the world and, in the words of the International Monetary Fund, 'the only bright spot in the otherwise dark horizon'.
Having pulverised Pakistan, using indigenous technology, we can now commend ourselves as a new regional superpower – an Atmanirbhar Bharat, a Shashakt Bharat, a Swabhiman Bharat and an Ekatma Bharat. Here lies the accomplishment of a determined government that wants India to be one and secure and which is committed to the safety and welfare of its citizens. Having ably proved this, it is now time to return to the path of becoming the third largest economy of the world – a Viksit Bharat – very soon.

PM Modi embarks on 5-nation visit, says ‘India committed to BRICS'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (July 2, 2025) said India is committed to BRICS as a vital platform for cooperation among emerging economies as he left on a week-long visit to five countries, including Brazil where he will attend the bloc's meeting. "Together, we strive for a more peaceful, equitable, just, democratic and balanced multipolar world order," he said in his departure statement. During the week-long travel, the PM will visit Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia. Ghana will be his first port of call. Mr. Modi said that at the invitation of President John Dramani Mahama, he will be there on July 2 and 3. Ghana is a valued partner in the Global South and plays an important role in the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States, he said, adding that he looked forward to talks aimed at further deepening the two countries' historical ties and opening up new windows of cooperation, including in the areas of investment, energy, health, security, capacity building and development partnership. He said, "As fellow democracies, it will be an honour to speak at the Parliament of Ghana." For the next couple of days after visiting Ghana, he will be in Trinidad and Tobago, a country with which India shares deep-rooted historical, cultural and people-to-people connect. Mr. Modi will meet President Christine Carla Kangaloo, who was the chief guest at this year's Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar, who has recently assumed office for the second term. "Indians first arrived in Trinidad and Tobago 180 years ago. This visit will provide an opportunity to rejuvenate the special bonds of ancestry and kinship that unite us," the Prime Minister said. Mr. Modi will then travel to Buenos Aires, the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Argentina in 57 years. "I will travel to Brasilia for a bilateral State Visit, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in nearly six decades. This visit will provide an opportunity to strengthen our close partnership with Brazil, and work with my friend, President H.E. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, on advancing the priorities of the Global South," he said. Namibia, which Mr. Modi described as a trusted partner sharing a common history of struggle against colonialism, will be his last destination. He will meet President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and chart a new roadmap for cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples, regions and the wider Global South, Mr. Modi said. He added, "It will be a privilege to also address the Joint Session of Namibian Parliament as we celebrate our enduring solidarity and shared commitment for freedom and development." Mr. Modi expressed confidence that his visits to the five countries will reinforce India's bonds and friendship across the Global South, strengthen their partnerships on both sides of the Atlantic, and deepen engagements in the multilateral platforms such as BRICS, the African Union, ECOWAS and the CARICOM.

Govt clears employment linked incentive scheme
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday approved the much-awaited employment-linked incentive (ELI) scheme proposed in the 2024-25 Budget, which will offer fresh recruits in private-sector jobs a month's wages, while firms hiring them will get financial incentives — steps aimed at boosting job opportunities and enhancing skills of working-age people. Govt clears employment linked incentive scheme The sops, aimed at creating 35 million new jobs in two years, will provide direct financial benefits up to ₹ 15,000 in two instalments to 19.2 million first-time employees, Union minister of information and broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said at a briefing. The outlay cleared by the Cabinet for the roll out stands at ₹ 99,446 crore. Firms participating in the scheme will also get a cash incentive of ₹ 3000 for each additional employee hired for two years, while for companies in the manufacturing sector, the sops will be available for an extended period of four years, according to an official statement. The jobs scheme is part of the PM's package to boost employment and skills, aimed at creating opportunities for nearly 41 million job-seekers in the long run, with a total estimated budget outlay of ₹ 2 lakh crore. 'The aim of the scheme is to create more formal employment and sustain it. It will promote formalization of the workforce, while complementing the national manufacturing mission,' the minister said. According to the government's Economic Survey 2024, India needs to create 7.85 million non-farm jobs every year until 2030 to absorb its expanding labour force, way higher than the current rate of employment. While one part of the scheme deals with one-off payments of a month's wages as direct benefit transfer to all first-time employees entering the workforce in formal sectors, up to a salary ceiling of ₹ 1 lakh, the second component is aimed at contributing a share of salaries. The scheme has been designed to calculate a baseline of employee strength and firms with less than 50 employees will need to hire two additional staffers to be eligible for the incentives. Employers with more than 50 workers will need to add five new employees to the payrolls. All employees need to be registered with the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, the state-backed retirement-income manager, according to the statement. According to the details of the scheme, for new employees with a provident-fund base wage of ₹ 10,000, the incentive for hirers will be ₹ 1000 and for those who fall in the base wage slab of between ₹ 10,000 and ₹ 20,000, the incentive will be ₹ 2000. For salaries of between ₹ 20,000 and ₹ 1 lakh, the benefit will be ₹ 3,000. The scheme therefore will offer incentives tied to EPFO contributions to both employers and first-time employees in the manufacturing sector in the form of funds linked to a specified pay scale for the period during which the plan will be in force. The benefits would be applicable for jobs created between 1 August 2025 and 31 July 2027. 'The target is to create jobs across the country for freshers, with a special focus on the manufacturing sector,' Vaishnaw said. In an earlier briefing, labour minister Mansukh Mandaviya had said the government would put in place foolproof systems and AI-driven technologies to monitor hirings and utilisation of funds provided by the government, when asked how authorities would ensure firms don't pass off existing employees as new ones to benefit from the incentives. The corporate affairs ministry had been tasked with drawing the list of firms which will participate in the employment-linked sops, while the labour ministry was involved in finalizing the proposals.
