Major search in Ingleby Barwick near river for 13-year-old boy
Cleveland Police have appealed for information about Mylo Capilla, who was last seen at around 9pm on Thursday in an area known as the 'Muddies' in Ingleby Barwick, Teesside, near the River Tees.
A large search of the area, which is close to Ramsey Gardens, has been carried out since then involving the emergency services.
Cleveland Police said Mylo was believed to be wearing a dark T-shirt and dark bottoms.
The force urged members of the public who want to help to first speak to officers.
In a Facebook post, the force said: 'While searches are ongoing, officers are reminding members of the public in the area to liaise with them directly and for their own safety not to enter any water.
'If you have information that will assist officers please call 101 quoting reference number 117649.'
More than 12 hours after the alarm was raised, the police helicopter continued to fly over a short span of the Tees.
A police cordon was in place on Ramsey Gardens, around 200m from the river, to keep the public away from the search area.
Cleveland Fire and Rescue Service and mountain rescue search specialists were also on the scene.
One local said the Muddies is a large area stretching along the riverbank and it is a known place for children and young people to play.

The rider of the Kawasaki, a 40-year-old man, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The road remains closed between Ringland and the Coldra on the Southern Distributor Road. Diversions are in place and motorists are advised to find alternative routes." Tributes to Brit, 41, who died after falling onto rocks in Majorca
Tributes have been paid to a British tourist who died after a late-night fall onto rocks near a beautiful white sand Majorcan beach. Ben Clark, 41, was killed instantly after the 15ft plunge from a wall in the early hours of Friday morning. Well-placed sources said his partner had also fallen from the same spot and been knocked unconscious before coming to and going to a nearby hotel to raise the alarm. Friends of Ben, who described himself on Facebook as a self-employed carpenter from Andover, Hampshire, called him 'one of the good ones' and a 'great guy' as they spoke of their shock at learning the news, with one admitting he was 'completely gutted.' Becky Paris said: 'Honestly I just spent the majority of the evening blabbering on about how 'it's the kind of thing you read about in the newspapers, but think well it wouldn't ever happen' as it wasn't real life. 'Today I am just absolutely heartbroken for you and your little family. 'No words that could make sense of it. You really were one of the good ones mate.' Peter Fordham added: 'RIP Ben Clark. Devastating news and a sad loss. 'You will be massively missed. Condolences to all your friends and family.' And Chris Jon Osman, responding to messages from one of Ben's daughters who had written in an online tribute: 'Love your forever dad', said: 'Couldn't be more gutted for you, love to all your family. 'His memory will live on through the many peoples' lives that he lit up. 'He was a great guy and a true legend.' News of the tragedy first began to emerge mid-morning on Friday when police said firefighters had helped them recover the body of an unnamed British man. A spokesman for the Civil Guard in Majorca said on Friday afternoon: 'We received an emergency alert just before 2am this morning, saying a man had fallen from a height of around 15 feet in a rocky area in Cala Agulla near to Capdepera and had possibly died. 'The Civil Guard's specialist Greim mountain and cave rescue unit was mobilised. 'The man's body was recovered just after 5am. 'A full report has yet to be drafted by the Greim unit and an autopsy will take place. 'But everything at this stage is pointing to the victim dying as a result of an accidental fall.' Earlier, well-placed sources said the dead man had been with his partner, who survived before going to raise the alarm at the Club Cala Rajada Hotel. An island newspaper has reported the fall happened in an area which is popular with tourists who visit the beauty spot to watch the stunning sunsets. Tragic keep-fit fanatic Mr Clark, who is believed to have been father to a grown-up daughter aged around 20 as well as a younger child, had been joking with a friend on Facebook the day before losing his life. The pal, commenting on the last photo he posted online from Majorca late on Thursday showing him looking redder than normal, said: 'Looking a bit serious Ben lol x', prompting Ben to respond: 'And burnt.' When the friend asked: 'Where's your sun protection then LOL', he replied: 'In the hand luggage.' Cala Agulla is a large, white sand beach surrounded by beautiful, natural landscapes in the north-east of Majorca, a short drive from Capdepera. It is surrounded by the wild beauty of sand dunes, pine trees, desert plants, and low lying rocky areas that form the Llevant Peninsula Natural Park. Last month a British woman died after plunging from a scenic beauty spot in Majorca. The 39-year-old was rushed to hospital critically injured following the drama but failed to overcome her injuries. She fell about 60 feet from a lookout point in the Palma neighbourhood of es Jonquet overlooking the sea. Local police and paramedics who responded to an emergency call stabilised her at the scene before putting a 'Green Alert' in place to make sure she got to hospital as quickly as possible by clearing traffic for the ambulance transporting her. Police confirmed after the May 19 tragedy they were not looking for anyone else in connection with what happened and the woman's death was not being treated as a crime. Dangerous stalker back behind bars after Instagram post Stalker Neal Hancock has made his victims' lives "hell" Neal Hancock (Image: South Wales Police ) A "dangerous" stalker is back behind bars after trying to contact one of his victims on social media. Last year Neal Hancock was jailed for breaching a restraining order following a lengthy and sinister campaign of harassment against three people. Now Hancock is back in prison after breaching the restraining order again, this time by approaching one of his victims on Instagram something he is prohibited from doing. In an interview with Walesonline last year, Hancock's victims bravely spoke out to detail the devastating impact his behaviour was having on their lives. Bethan Simms from Port Talbot described how the defendant would constantly bombard her with messages on Facebook, creating new accounts every time she blocked him. Hancock then began stalking her in person as well as online, and also started stalking Bethan's mother Kathryn. The defendant would message the women detailing exactly where they were and what they were doing when they were out and about, and he told Bethan that he knew she had children and he described them to her in detail. Article continues below The stalking of Bethan went on for more than four years and became so bad she felt scared to leave her house and she had to tell her children's school and show them pictures from social media of what her stalker looked like in the hope that staff would recognise him if he was seen near the school. It then emerged the daughter and mother were not Hancock's only victims when a mutual friend introduced them to Carl Mallon, someone who had known of the defendant in their teenage years. In Carl's case what began as homophobic abuse and name-calling turned into stalking which continued for a much longer period than it did for Bethan. It crippled Carl to the point he left his job and moved house. You can read our interview with the victims here - "Our stalker has made our life hell for years" Article continues below Neal Hancock, aged 39, previously of Lingfield Avenue, Port Talbot, but now of Ambassador Hotel, The Parade, Neath, pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order by sending a message to Bethan Simms on Instagram when he appeared at Swansea Magistrates Court. The defendant was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison. Speaking after the sentencing South Wales Police inspector Jared Easton said: "Neal Hancock is clearly a dangerous individual who refuses to learn his lesson and has caused all manner of trauma for his poor victim. His behaviour towards this victim has been ongoing for several years now. It is completely unacceptable, and nobody should have to put up with a prolonged campaign like this."
