How many games will suspended Nicolas Jackson miss at Club World Cup?
Nicolas Jackson is suspended for Chelsea's final Club World Cup group match against ES Tunis tonight.
The Senegal international was dismissed just four minutes after coming off the bench in Friday's Group D clash with Brazilian side Flamengo, who came from behind to seal a 3-1 win.
It came just as his side had conceded two goals to surrender their first-half lead, leaving his teammates and manager Enzo Maresca in a desperate situation.
Jackson caught Flamengo defender Ayrton Lucas high as he clamped down on the defender to earn his second straight red card in just over a month.
The 24-year-old was given his marching orders in the Premier League meeting against Newcastle United in May. Just 36 minutes into the match, Jackson was judged to have elbowed Sven Botman, earning himself an early bath.

That indiscretion earned him a three-match ban, missing the final games of the 2024-25 league season against Manchester United and Nottingham Forest. He will also miss the opening game of the new season against Crystal Palace.
A red card in the Club World Cup means Jackson is now facing another enforced absence in the early hours of Wednesday morning against ES Tunis.
Red cards earn a player a one-match suspension in Club World Cup games. Fifa's guidance states: 'Any player or official given a red card will miss their team's subsequent match. In addition, further sanctions – e.g. an additional suspension or a fine – may be imposed.
'Red cards will not be wiped at any point during the tournament. If a player is sent off during the semi-finals, he will be suspended for the final.'
However, FIFA's Disciplinary Committee have reviewed the incident and have now decided to extend Jackson's ban for two games after the challenge was deemed serious foul play.
Boca Juniors duo Ander Herrera and Nicolas Figal were this week handed four-match bans after being sent off in their side's opening game of the competition against Benfica on Monday.
Herrera was dismissed after he was seen grappling with a member of staff as he tried to approach the referee towards the end of the first-half with his indiscretion filed under 'unsportsmanlike conduct'.
Figal meanwhile was shown a straight red card for a foul on Florentino Luis in the 88th minute with his suspension for violent conduct – a charge Jackson could also face.
Nicolas Jackson will certainly be ruled out of Chelsea's final group game against Tunisian side ES Tunis, which kicks off at 2am in the early hours of Wednesday morning. More Trending
And the striker will now miss Chelsea's first game of the knockout stages should the Blues progress to that stage of the competition.
Chelsea need a draw or a win against ES Tunis tonight to progress to the knockout stages where Benfica or Bayern Munich await.

Benfica boss singles out 'very strong' Chelsea star after Club World Cup defeat
Benfica head coach Bruno Lage singled out Pedro Neto for special praise following the side's Club World Cup defeat to Chelsea, pointing to the winger's constant threat in 'one-on-one' duels. The Blues appeared to be cruising towards the quarter-finals as Reece James fired a superb free-kick beyond Anatoliy Trubin to break the deadlock in the 64th minute, before play was suspended due to nearby lightning. But Angel Di Maria held his nerve from the penalty spot to turn the last-16 tie on its head deep into stoppage time, just moments after Benfica forward Gianluca Prestianni was sent off for a second bookable offence. Andre Onana has endured a tricky couple of seasons at Manchester United at Old Trafford and it appears that Ruben Amorim has finally decided what to do with him ahead of next term Manchester United are reportedly willing to sanction a loan move for Andre Onana after stumbling into a real issue regarding his future. The Cameroonian international has endured a tricky couple of seasons since his arrival from Inter Milan. High-profile errors have blighted his performances and put his position as number one in jeopardy. United are open to letting him leave and would apparently prefer a permanent sale. But Onana's high wages have made an exit this summer tricky and Red Devils chiefs are now having to get creative to move him on. According to The Sun, United are open to letting Onana leave on loan. Monaco - who have recently signed ex-United midfielder Paul Pogba - have been linked with a move but have struggled to get a deal over the line. It is said that United are now awaiting approaches and would prefer to send the 29-year-old to Europe as opposed to a Premier League rival. Speaking earlier this month, Onana appeared to hint that he was also open to an exit. He said: "Will I leave? I don't know, we'll see!" While Onana's future remains up in the air, United have already launched their search for a new number one. Aston Villa 's Emi Martinez remains their number one target but a deal for the 2022 World Cup winner is expected to be expensive. Other options include Botafogo's John Victor, Porto star Diogo Costa and Cruz Azul number one Kevin Mier. Former United stopper Ben Foster believes that Martinez would be the outstanding candidate should Onana be moved on. He said: 'It's a brutal league, the Premier League, and I kind of think [over] the last two seasons that he [Onana] hasn't done enough to prove that he is a Manchester United number one. 'I think he's got ability, and like so many other Man United players, he'd go elsewhere and probably flourish. I think that's probably going to be the case with him as well. If the opportunity does come to sign somebody like Emi Martinez, they've got to go for it. He's still one of the best goalkeepers in the world. 'A lot of people said this season, probably not up to the standard of the previous two years, but still one of the best goalkeepers in the world. 'You've got to have a strong spine in any football team. If you get the goalie right, you get a couple of strikers in, Bruno's going to be staying now.
