He has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and being in charge of a boat while under the influence of alcohol.
A speedboat driver has been arrested over the death of a "loving" mum who passed away after a crash between the vessel and the jet ski she was riding.
Debra Wright died in the arms of her husband Chris after tragedy struck in the Costa Del Sol on Saturday. Chis swam out to her after the incident and held her until she passed away.

Guardia Civil in Malaga said Debra had been a passenger on a jet ski which was struck by a speedboat and that, despite efforts to resuscitate her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

And the force has now confirmed that the driver of the speedboat has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and being in charge of a boat while under the influence of alcohol.
Liverpool Echo reports that Chris, who is the chair of Ashton Town Football Club, told the Times that he "swam to her to hold her in my arms until she passed away" following the horror crash.
Paying tribute to his wife, of Haydock , Merseyside, he told the paper: "My darling wife was a 47-year-old mother of four wonderful sons Stuart, Jack, Josh and Leon and a nanny to seven beautiful grandchildren. She was an incredible sister and doting daughter.
"She was our compass, the glue to bind the family. An amazing woman whose glow would fill any room. She was so enigmatic, inspirational and loving. Our family will never be the same."
Debra's son, Stu McDonald, also paid tribute to his mum in a post on Facebook which read: "Mum, I never knew how much I needed someone until now, I'm so sorry that I didn't tell you just how much I loved you every single day. You meant the world to me.

"We've been through it all, I can't even believe I'm even writing this. I'm so angry and upset, totally lost, I don't even know how to move forward without you.
"You are my mum, my best friend, I wish I could swap places with you, if I could knowing you would be OK I would do it in a heartbeat. It would be impossible to thank you for everything you have done for us, you loved me when I couldn't love myself.

"You've backed me every step of the way. I really hope I made you just the tiniest bit proud. You know I was never one for a Facebook post, but this is just for you. Sleep tight mum, I miss you so much. Life will never be the same without you."
Leon Wright, another of Debra's sons, said: "Mum you were one of a kind. Words can't describe how much I'm missing you right now. You were the life and soul of every party, I am so happy to be called your son.

"I couldn't have asked for anyone better to be my mum. I just want to say thank you for all the great memories you have given me, thank you for all your support you have given me.
"Thank you for all your love you have given and thank you for everything else that you have done for me. I will make sure Riley and Ava know how amazing their Nanny Deb was and they will never forget you."
Councillor Danny Fletcher posted on social media: "Extending my heartfelt condolences following the tragic passing of Debra, beloved wife of Ashton Town FC Chairman, Chris Wright.

"What an amazing family, done so much for our community. My thoughts are with Chris, his family and everyone at Ashton Town FC. Anything that Wigan Council can do to help, they will be there."
In a statement, Ashton Town Football Club said: "It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that on behalf of Ashton Town FC we announce the tragic death of Debra Wright, the wife of Chris our chairman, who was tragically killed while on holiday in Spain.
"Our family are in mourning at this sad time and we ask for time for Chris and his family and everyone at the club to be able to start to come to terms with this tragedy. RIP Debra, fly high sweetheart x."

Co-op ATM heist caught on camera as thugs use crowbars and saws to rip out cash machine

The gang used hammers and electric saws to steal the cash from a Co-op store in Scone, Perth. Footage has captured the moment a sophisticated ATM theft gang ripped a cash machine from inside a Scots Co-Op. CCTV clips from the store reveal the actions of the group, who made away with the ATM in the boot of a car on Perth Road in Scone. ‌ Officers were called to the shop after the alarm was raised at around 3.15am on Sunday June 29. Shortly before the raid, three men wearing red gloves are seen outside using crowbars to batter in the glass front of the shop. ‌ After smashing it in, the thugs then use a strapped harness attached to a pick up truck to destroy the shop door and topple the ATM. Debris from the impact is strewn across the shop floor before one man runs inside with an electric saw and hacks off a huge metal chain attaching the cash machine to the ground. A commentary accompanies the video clip where a man describes the robbery step by step. He is heard saying: "He's got a grinder out. Grinds the big chain on the cash machine, because that's where the money is." The men then attach the harness from the truck to the machine before using using the vehicle to haul the machine out of the shop and onto the street. ‌ The man continues: "They hooked it up and hoofed it right out. It's got all the money in it. They've got it. The gang then abandon the pick up truck and a small white car arrives on the scene. The men crack open the outer case of the ATM and bundle a smaller box from inside the machine into the boot before the driver speeds off. ‌ Cops cordoned off the scene after responding to reports of a break-in and theft of cash from an ATM. Locals living nearby told how they woke up at around 3am to hear the robbery taking place. One man, who lives across the road from the shop, said: "A pick-up hauled the cash machine out the wall of the Co-op. "I heard something at about 3am and thought it was bins getting blown over, but there was a big vehicle stopped for a bit. I never heard any alarm going off and I live right across the street from the Co-op." ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! That place is always getting robbed but this is first time the cash machine has been hauled out." The quantity of cash stolen during the incident is not yet known. ‌ The attack on Scone's Co-Op came just 24 hours after another branch of the store was targeted in Lenzie at 2.15am last Saturday morning. Pictures taken from the scene on Kirkintilloch Road showed glass scattered across the floor after the machine was ripped out of the shop. The 'free cash withdrawals' sign could be seen amongst various other debris, with a police car positioned nearby. ‌ It is understood that police are probing whether the incidents are linked. No one has yet been arrested and officers are appealing for information. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 2.15am on Saturday, June 28, 2025, we received a report of a break-in and theft of cash from an ATM at a premises on Kirkintilloch Road, Lenzie. ‌ "Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 0464 of June 28, 2025. He said: "Words fall short at this time, what can anybody say? They are such a lovely family and so well respected in our local community. It's just devastating. The loss of anybody on our roads is difficult for any community to take. "But the loss of a mother and daughter, particularly given the fact that they are so young, is even more poignant and more difficult to accept. People are just numb and there is very little I can add to that other than to keep them all in our thoughts and prayers." Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. The road was closed for examination by a forensics team, but later reopened on Thursday. Officers are appealing for any witnesses to get in touch. Inspector Sean McDaid, Head of the Garda Traffic Corps in Co Donegal, has asked any motorists travelling in the area at the time of the crash who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to pass it on to investigating Gardaí.
