Al Hilal Earns Over USD 33 Million in Club World Cup Windfall
Al Hilal SC has secured prize over USD 33 million in prize money following its qualification to the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
The club earned USD 9.5 million for participating in the tournament, with an additional USD 2 million awarded for a victory against Mexico's Pachuca. Two draws, one with Spain's Real Madrid and another with Austria's Red Bull Salzburg, added USD 1 million each to the tally. Advancement to the Round of 16 contributed a further USD 7.5 million, while qualification to the quarter-finals provided the largest financial reward yet at USD 13 million.
The financial windfall followed a dramatic 4–3 victory over Manchester City in a match that extended into extra time. Manchester City opened the scoring in the 9th minute through Bernardo Silva, but Al Hilal responded with goals from Marcos Leonardo and Malcom early in the second half. City equalised with a strike from Erling Haaland in the 55th minute, concluding regular time at 2–2. In extra time, Kalidou Koulibaly restored Al Hilal's lead in the 94th minute, only for Phil Foden to equalise once again in the 104th. Leonardo then scored the decisive goal late in extra time after a rebound.
Controversy arose over a goal scored by Silva, which drew protests from Al Hilal players who claimed a handball by Rayan Ait-Nouri during the buildup. The referee upheld the goal after a VAR review, confirming its validity despite visible objections.

Mbappe could make his Club World Cup debut after being listed as substitute against Juventus
Mbappe missed the first three games of the tournament with an illness. Alonso said Monday it was possible Mbappe could play in his first Club World Cup match in the knockout round, and the French star arrived with the team several hours before the game was set to begin at Hard Rock Stadium. Mbappe had a gastrointestinal illness before Real Madrid's opening Club World Cup match and was treated at a hospital. He sat out all three group matches as Madrid won two and drew the other. He walked onto the field ahead of Tuesday's match to an ovation from the fans in the soggy venue that had seen downpours throughout the afternoon. Mbappe's return brings star power to a tournament that took a hit when Lionel Messi and Inter Miami were eliminated in the round of 16 by Mbappe's and Messi's former club, Paris Saint-Germain. Madrid captain Dani Carvajal and defender Eder Militao were also set to return on Tuesday. Carvajal has not played since tearing his ACL and undergoing surgery last fall. Both were also listed as substitutes. Reports: Messi Considers Leaving Inter Miami
Rana Atef Press reports have revealed a major surprise regarding the future of Argentine star Lionel Messi with his current club, Inter Miami, especially as his contract is set to expire in December, after he joined the team in the summer of 2023 on a free transfer following the end of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. According to ESPN Argentina, Messi is considering a new experience, possibly on loan for next season, in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, with the aim of maintaining his fitness and securing a second World Cup title with the Argentine national team. The report indicated that Messi is exploring the option of temporarily playing in a more competitive league ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The report also noted that contract renewal talks between Messi and Inter Miami's management are currently on hold, in anticipation of a possible departure in the near future. Despite Messi's emotional and historic ties with Barcelona, a return to the club appears unlikely due to its ongoing financial struggles and tensions with club president Joan Laporta. A return to his former club Paris Saint-Germain also seems distant, given the French team's current focus on building a young and energetic squad. Meanwhile, Manchester City has shown interest in signing Messi, but the likelihood of that happening remains uncertain, despite the close relationship between the player and City manager Pep Guardiola. Precision Football Celebrates Three Years as UAE's Ministry of Sports Taps Platform for National Talent Pipeline
Dubai United Arab Emirates, June 2025: Precision Football, the high-performance platform backed by Agon Capital and founded by former professional footballer and UEFA-qualified coach Sonny Cobbs, is celebrating three years of operations. This milestone coincides with a strategic new partnership with the UAE Ministry of Sports, cementing its role as a key player in the country's long-term sports infrastructure and youth development strategy. The collaboration, signed earlier this year with Playermaker and the Ministry, formally integrates Precision Football into the UAE's national scouting, performance tracking, and player development ecosystem. The agreement also includes the rollout of a region-first diploma programme that blends elite athletic training with accredited academic pathways, a model designed to align with global benchmarks for professional sport. In just three years, Precision has trained more than 7,000 athletes, including Premier League talent and four players now competing with the UAE national women's team. Its 165,000 sq ft Dubai flagship houses FIFA-grade hybrid turf, smart recovery facilities, and one of the most advanced data-driven football analysis centres in the region. Private investment in the venture has exceeded USD $10 million to date. 'This is more than a training centre, it's a national asset,' said Ryan Hattingh, Group CEO of Agon Capital. 'Precision Football represents the kind of investment we believe defines the future of our region: purpose-led, performance-driven, and deeply integrated with national priorities. As the Gulf continues to diversify its economy, there's a growing appetite for platforms that sit at the intersection of lifestyle, infrastructure, and long-term value. Precision is proof that sports can deliver not just social capital, but real economic return, and that private investment has a critical role to play in building the region's next generation of talent and opportunity.' Precision's proprietary tech stack integrates biometric analytics, cognitive tracking, heat mapping, and decision-tree modelling, capabilities typically only seen at top-tier European clubs. Every pass, sprint, and movement is translated into performance intelligence, giving athletes and scouts unprecedented visibility into real-time progress. 'Coaching today has moved far beyond the ball-and-whistle era. The modern game demands more – more insight, more precision, more accountability, said Sonny Cobbs, Founder and Creator of Precision Football. 'At Precision, we combine instinct and experience with data and analysis to develop players in ways that were never possible before. It's no longer just about what you see on the pitch – it's about what the data reveals beneath it. That's where real progress happens.' Beyond talent, the platform is helping reposition sport as a cornerstone of national development, bridging education, health, and entertainment. While Precision's technology is elite in standard, it's fully embedded into its academy and youth development programmes – ensuring that the same tools used to train professionals are also shaping the next generation. It also reflects Agon Capital's broader strategy of investing in scalable, future-forward lifestyle assets with fast ROI and cultural significance. With expansion into Saudi Arabia in planning, and additional UAE activations expected in 2026, Precision Football is positioning itself not just as a player development platform, but as a catalyst for the region's next-generation sports economy.
