ROP ready to provide help, security to Dhofar tourists
The General Command of Police on Sunday provided the Dhofar Governorate Police Command with a human support force, specialised machinery and technical equipment to support field efforts and enhance security and police services provided to visitors to the governorate during the tourist season.
To enhance rapid response to various reports, reduce traffic accidents, and provide guidance and assistance to tourists and road users leading to Dhofar Governorate, the Royal Oman Police has set up check points at several locations and provided them with direct contact numbers to facilitate access by visitors when necessary and ensure security coverage of all areas along the road.
For its part, mounted patrols will contribute to covering tourist sites that are difficult to reach by vehicle, ensuring proximity to tourists visiting these locations, enhancing police presence to ensure safety and reassurance.
Coast Guard rescue teams will be stationed on Dhofar Governorate's beaches and near water springs to ensure rapid response to drowning incidents and provide advice and guidance to visitors.
Police aviation will provide support in situations requiring helicopters, such as search and rescue operations, and will provide air ambulance services when necessary.
The Royal Oman Police affirms its readiness to handle all events and secure the season's activities and events, including facilitating passport and visa procedures, streamlining movement at land and customs ports, and increasing police presence at tourist sites and event venues.
The Royal Oman Police calls on all visitors to adhere to the rules and regulations, cooperate with the police, and call the emergency number (9999) in case of need for assistance.

Agreement inked to fund establishment of visitor centre at Qalhat ancient city
Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Development Foundation of Oman Liquefied Natural Gas Company Oman LNG today signed a financing agreement worth RO 3 million for the establishment of a visitor center at the ancient city of Qalhat. This initiative falls within the ministry's efforts to develop UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The project, spanning an area of 5,000 square meters, will include two museum halls to display archaeological artifacts discovered at the site. The center's facilities will feature administrative offices, a gift shop, a café, an outdoor events plaza, internal pathways connecting the visitor center to the ancient city, shaded seating areas, and vehicle parking. The agreement was signed on behalf of the ministry by Salem Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, while Dr. Amer Nasser Al Mata'ani, CEO of Oman LNG Development Foundation, signed on behalf of the company. The historical city of Qalhat is one of Oman's oldest cities and ports, boasting a strategic location overlooking the Sea of Oman.
