WATCH: Netflix drop new trailer for Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3

Extra.ie27-06-2025
A new trailer has been released for Countdown: Taylor vs. Serrano, a behind-the-scenes documentary chronicling the buildup to one of the biggest fights in womens boxing history.
Narrated by Uma Thurman, the film will premiere on July 3, ahead of the highly anticipated trilogy bout streaming live on Netflix on July 11.
Directed by Jackie Decker and Tim Mullen, the documentary offers unprecedented access to both camps as Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano prepare for their trilogy fight at Madison Square Garden.
Executive produced by Ian Orefice, Michael Antinoro, Jake Paul, Nakisa Bidarian and others, the film documents the physical and mental preparation of both fighters in the lead-up to the fight, offering a look at the pressures and expectations surrounding the event.
The upcoming bout marks a landmark moment for women's boxing: the first all-womens professional card at the storied venue and the most decorated in boxing history. A total of 21 world title belts will be contested across five championship fights, with three undisputed and two unified title bouts on the card a record in the four-belt era for any card, male or female.
Taylor, the undisputed super lightweight champion and national icon in Ireland, holds a 241 record with 6 knockouts. She faces Amanda Serrano, Puerto Ricos seven-division world champion and current unified featherweight titleholder, who brings a 4731 record with 31 KOs into the ring.
The rivalry began in 2022, when Taylor edged Serrano by split decision. In their 2024 rematch on the undercard of Paul vs. Tyson, Taylor prevailed again.
'Im 2-0 against Amanda,' said the boxer also known as The Bray Bomber, 'but its obviously a very special rivalry that delivers every time we step in the ring, so I think its only right that we have the trilogy.'

Wicklow's Netflix and Playstation musicians to headline Dublin's Whelan's

The award-winning duo consists of composer/producer Gus Crawford Collins and singer/songwriter, The Voice finalist Kim Hayden. You will have heard this exciting duo's cinematic music on several of the latest Netflix hit series, including Fool Me Once, Missing You and Obsession, as well as blockbuster movie trailers, including Mothers Instinct and Unsung Hero and, of course, the show that really brought their music to the mainstream, Love Island. Their work for Netflix's Obsession trailer earned them the award for Best Use Of Music at the Promax awards, while PlayStation's renowned 30th Anniversary Trailer also featured their award-winning cover of 'Dreams'. Their sound, which has been carefully crafted and honed over many yeas, has been described as 'uniquely ethereal, cinematic and atmospheric', and the pair found their winning formula in the film, tv, trailers and gaming world soundscape. Dream A Lot's originals and reimagines of classic hits such as Christina Aguilera's Fighter, Kylie's Can't Get You Out Of My Head and their viral cover of Dreams by the Cranberries have been heard by millions across the world. On top of which they have made their way into the top five Shazam charts with their cover of Shakespeare's Sister Stay. All the work is done at a little studio at their home in Newcastle, Co Wicklow, where apart from film and TV soundtracks, they work on original music, which they always hoped to release and perform. When they spoke to last year, they did hint at a live show, and in terms of replicating their music, as with all they do, they were aiming high. 'We've been toying with some ideas,' Gus said. 'Because the kind of thing we want to do is like a sort of Hans Zimmer-style show, make it really, you know, super cinematic. Almost like a soundtrack night almost essentially. I think we're going to try and be brave.' This is a rare opportunity to see and hear the Dream A Lot experience as they play their favourite tracks and new originals live in the intimate Whelan's venue. Dream A Lot, with special guests Nadia and Kellie Lewis, play Whelan's Main Venue on Sunday, July 27.

Kevin Kilbane speaks for Katie Taylor fans with complaint about ‘terribly biased' Netflix coverage of Serrano trilogy

KEVIN KILBANE vented his frustration about Netflix's "terribly biased" coverage of Katie Taylor's trilogy fight against Amanda Serrano. Taylor, 39, put her undisputed super lightweight titles on the line against Serrano, 36, at a sold-out Madison Square Garden. 2 Katie Taylor fought Amanda Serrano for a third time at MSG Credit: Stephen McCarthy/Sportsfile 2 Kevin Kilbane complained about Netflix's coverage Credit: Sportsfile - Subscription It was the third bout between the two rivals, with KT having won both of their previous contests. Their first, also at MSG, saw the Bray woman retain her lightweight crown with a split decision victory in April 2022. The sequel, at AT&T Stadium last November, saw the 2012 Olympic gold medalist win via unanimous decision. It was a result that remains contested by Serrano, who lamented Taylor's perceived intentional use of her head which saw her deducted a point in the bout. Read More on Katie Taylor The controversy was alluded to on several occasions during Netflix's coverage, with video packages even featuring lead commentator Mauro Ranallo's claim that the Puerto Rican was "robbed". Former Republic of Ireland international footballer Kevin Kilbane took to Twitter to criticise this element of the build-up. He said: "Terribly biased narrative again around the pre fight build up on @netflix. Anti Katie Taylor as per the first 2 fight. Let's go Katie! #TaylorSerrano3" He followed this up with another post which read: "No respect for greatness! Let's go @KatieTaylor" Most read in Sport It was a sentiment shared by many fans of the Irish boxing legend. One said: "The commentary are a disgrace the stuff their saying about Katie" A second posted: "Disappointing but not surprising, I imagine the commentary will be bias again aswell" A third said: "Yes, they want Serrano to win so bad it's sad lol" A fourth said: "Taylor is going to need a KO to get a draw here. So rigged and their not hiding it" A fifth said: "Oh it's the worst. But like last fight Katie doesn't give a f***" Katie Taylor as she hit back against 's claim that she should have had her hand raised last time out. She said: 'I have my own opinion about the stuff that Amanda has been saying on our team, but the fact is I am 2-0 against her. "Opinions are opinions, but facts are facts and you can't get away from those facts. And yeah, I guess I'm just tired of the complaining and the whining from Amanda's team. "I'm going into this fight already beating Amanda and I plan to stay beating her. I plan to stay 3-0 come this Friday night. 'I feel like people haven't seen the best me yet and I can't wait to showcase that on Friday night. "I can definitely make the fight a lot easier for myself and I just can't wait to step in there now and actually perform. "I know that I can perform and produce the best performance of my career.'

Not only that, but the "ringside suites" - which set users back an eye-watering $1 million - came with a large TV through which the card could be watched. However, this was questioned by fans on social media, who wondered why it was necessary to have a TV when the action is right in front of them. One said: "Why do you have that when you are right towards the ring? No sense" Read More on Katie Taylor A second posted: "Why the TV?!?!?!" while a third asked: "Why do they need a tv?" A fourth said: "What rubbish, why have the screen there when you're right beside the ring??" A fifth added: "So spend $1 million to sit front row to just watch the fight on TV" A sixth posted: "Hahaha a seat and a tv wtf do you need a tv for ag ringside more money than f***ing sense" Most read in Boxing And a seventh said: "Did they really pay 1 million for that seat wtf lol." There was plenty of hype going into Saturday morning's action, and the undercard lived up to the billing. UK Netflix Users Warned: £1,000 Fine for Watching Live Events Without a TV Licence In the opening bout of the official undercard, Ellie Scotney put on a stylish performance to beat Yamileth Mercado to become unified super bantamweight champion. After the fight, the Englishwoman paid an emotional tribute to Georgia O'Connor, who died from cancer in May. She said: "I have had a real testing few months. As everybody knows, I lost my dear friend Georgia so tonight is for her. "Her dad is over there and I'd like everyone to give her a round of applause. "She was 25 years old, she was a fighter, and she lost her battle to cancer but tonight I made sure her name was remembered in Madison Square Garden." In the follow-up bout, Shadasia Green spoiled Savannah Marshall's return in a tumultous split decision victory. The gutsy veteran overcame a slow start to win via split decision to become unified IBF & WBO Super Middleweight champion. The judges scorecards were indicative of a topsy-turvy bout, with Green edging out Marshall 95-94, 93-96, 96-93.
