John Travolta to Star in Orca Survival Thriller BLACK TIDES For Director Renny Harlin — GeekTyrant
Travolta will take on the lead role of Bill Pierce, an estranged father whose attempt to reconnect with his daughter and grandson turns into a harrowing battle for survival when their boat is attacked by rogue orcas off the southern coast of Spain.
The film, which is due to shoot at the end of the summer, will be 'shot old-school, with in-camera effects and real water work'. The Solution Entertainment Group is handling worldwide sales excluding Spain at the Cannes market.
Renny Harlin said of working with Travolta:
'John Travolta brings the perfect combination of grit, depth, vulnerability and charisma to the character of Bill Pierce, the estranged father, that achingly captures the tragedies of family dynamics.
'I can't wait to show fans of big screen cinema how his movie star presence and physicality will add gravity to the epic action sequences and deeply emotional personal drama.
'As a director, I consider myself fortunate to join a list of acclaimed filmmakers who've had the privilege of getting to know John as an artist and a person.'

Jameis Winston goes viral for performing ‘Thriller' dance during Giants camp
Jameis Winston doesn't seem too stressed about the Giants' backup backup quarterback competition. Winston busted out the dance moves during Saturday's training camp practice, doing his best 'Thriller' dance as the late's Michael Jackson hit song — and legendary dance and music video — from the early 1980s blasted while waiting his turn in drills. Winston, signed in free agency before the Giants drafted Jaxson Dart in the first round, is battling the first-round pick to start the season as the backup quarterback behind Russell Wilson. Brian Daboll has said repeatedly that Wilson will be the starting quarterback in Week 1, but the No. 2 spot is wide open. 'We're going to go out here and practice, and the guys are going to compete,' Daboll told reporters this week about the backup quarterback job. 'The roster will be set when the roster is set.' 3 Jameis Winston doing the 'Thriller' dance. @PardonMyTake/X It would appear to be a matter of time before Dart is the backup, and then a matter of time before he is on the field, but whether that is a question of weeks or of the full season will depend on how all three quarterbacks play. 'I look at it as if I'm in a battle for my life,' Winston told reporters last Sunday. 3 Winston busts a move Saturday. @PardonMyTake/X 3 Jameis Winston had some fun on Saturday. @PardonMyTake/X With that kind of stress, it's good he can still let loose. Winston is preparing for his 11th season and first with the Giants after spending the 2024 season with the Browns. The former No. 1 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft threw 13 touchdowns to 12 interceptions in 12 games, including seven starts, after replacing the injured Deshaun Watson. The 30-year-old spent the first five years of his career, all with the Buccaneers, as a starter before transitioning to the veteran backup role. It's possible there could be trade interest in Winston should the Giants opt to open the season with Dart as Wilson's backup.

Cardi B Claims She Threw Speaker At Rah Ali During Cannes Airport Argument, Rah Reacts
Cardi B claims that she and fellow Love & Hip Hop alum Rah Ali recently got into a heated exchange at the airport in Cannes, France, with Rah saying things didn't go down exactly as the Bronx rapper described. The 'Outside' artist shared the story during an X Spaces session late Thursday (July 31), where she described running into Ali and knowing she would have to get her lick back for their altercation during the 2018 Harper's BAZAAR ICONS Party, which Ali attended with friend, Nicki Minaj. 'I know that I'm grown and that I shouldn't have that mentality, but let's be f**king for real,' Cardi explained, saying Ali would've publicly deemed her a coward if she said nothing, going on to describe the night the former reality star allegedly hit her while she was held back by Minaj's security. 'Your friend's security and you attacked me…the security grabbed me and you attacked me, and if you thought I was gonna let that sh*t fly, you outta your f**king mind.' 'I can't live and die knowing that somebody did put they hands on me and I never did nothing back,' she said. 'Bi**h, I'm from the Bronx, you from the Bronx. You know what's up.' Cardi goes on to claim that Rah Ali stared her down while in the airport, resulting in Cardi starting an argument. When Ali dismissed the rapper, telling her to 'grow up,' Cardi claims she then threw a JBL portable speaker at Ali's head. Hear Cardi explain it all below. The confession followed Ali's description of events earlier that day, admitting that they did get into an argument, but claiming that Cardi threw shoes and bags at her, not a speaker. Ali doubled-down on this after Cardi made her claims. 'I will always be ready to protect myself at all cost, however at this stage in my life I'm not interested in making poor choices,' she wrote on X. 'Anything and everything I execute is thoroughly calculated. With that being said, had anyone in this whole world hit ME in my head with a speaker, you in fact would be viewing footage of me in handcuffs. I promise to God that did not happen.' She concluded, 'If it makes her feel better, I encourage you all to support that version. Mentally I can handle it, I don't mind. I will NOT be on this app acting a fool.' See her posts below. Following the original incident, Nicki Minaj described the fight between Rah and Cardi on Queen Radio, saying, 'Rah [Ali] really, really beat Cardi's ass bad. Like really bad. … The hardest punches you've ever heard in your life.'
