No Flood Can Stop The Wedding: Bihar Groom's Adventure Ride To Shaadi Mandap Looks Straight Out Of War 2
The groom would have taken a direct 35 kilometer route to the bride's village in Bihar, but due to floods, the path became much longer and harder to travel.
In Bihar's Bhagalpur district, heavy floods caused a wedding procession to take an unusual turn. The groom, Devmuni Kumar, could not travel the normal way to his bride's house because the roads were flooded and blocked by water. Instead of riding in a fancy car, Devmuni travelled by boat and used an e-rickshaw to reach the bride's home in Katakosh village. He was joined by close to 25 to 30 friends and family members. Normally, the groom would have taken a direct 35 kilometer route, but as the Ganga River had overflowed, the path became much longer and harder to travel.
Speaking with ETV Bharat, Devmuni's father, Ramdev Mandal, said, 'The date of the wedding was fixed a month ago and the procession was to go to the house of Ramchandra Chaudhary of Katakosh village in Manihari block of Katihar district. But our Bakharpur village was surrounded by flood water on all sides. There was no other way to leave the village except for the 30 of us to move by boat."

Devmuni Kumar shared that his journey to the bride's house started in a decorated Scorpio car, but they couldn't travel far because of the floods. After a point, the bride's family had to walk to reach the riverbank, from where they took a boat. At first, the weather was clear, but as soon as they got on the boat, it began to rain. By the time they reached the bride's house, everyone was soaked. Despite leaving home at day time, they managed to reach the bride's village by 8 PM.
After the boat ride, their journey wasn't over, they were still forced to walk for a few more kilometres before getting into e-rickshaws that finally took them to the wedding venue. The groom said, 'My desire that the party be accompanied by a band playing music along with pomp and show remained unfulfilled."
Apart from Katakosh village, many other places in Bihar, like Nepal, Ganga and Kosi, are also facing heavy rains and floods. Water has entered homes, fields are damaged, and roads are blocked.

Agency: PTI Last Updated: Shimla, Aug 3 (PTI) Moderate to heavy rains continued to lash parts of Himachal Pradesh, resulting in the closure of 297 roads, including one national highway on Sunday, officials said. The local meteorological office has issued an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rains in isolated areas of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur on Monday and Una, Bilaspur, Kangra and Sirmaur on Tuesday. A person died and two others sustained injuries when their vehicle fell into a gorge following a landslide near Dargi on Sunni area of Shimla district on Sunday. The ill-fated vehicle with three people on board was on its way to to Chanog. The deceased was identified as Lekhraj (37). Vikas and Nitish are under treatment at Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital, Shimla, officials said. On Saturday evening, Dinesh Kumar (54) was killed when a bulldozer he was operating plunged into a deep gorge in Kumarsain, around 77 kilometres away from Shimla. So far, there have been 103 reported deaths due to rain-related incidents, with 36 people still missing. The fatalities include 20 drownings, 19 deaths from falls, 17 deaths from cloudbursts, eight from flash floods, and six from landslides, officials said. Since Saturday evening, several regions have experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, with Bharari recording 108.2 mm, follow ed by Murari Devi with 82 mm, Naina Devi at 74.4 mm, Malraon at 56.2 mm, Brahmani at 45.4 mm, Una at 38 mm, and Jot at 36.2 mm. A total of 297 roads, including NH-505 (Khab to Gramphoo) have been closed for vehicular traffic as of Sunday evening. The majority of these, 164 roads, are in the heavily affected Mandi district, while 67 are in Kullu district, according to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC). Additionally, 134 power distribution transformers and 266 water supply schemes have been affected across the state, the SEOC said. Since the onset of the monsoon on June 20 until August 3, the state has incurred losses totalling Rs 1,714 crore. As many as 1,649 houses have been fully or partially damaged in the state, with 53 flash floods, 28 cloudbursts and 47 major landslides recorded this season, officials said. Spell of heavy rainfall expected to continue for next 24-36 hours in UP
Agency: PTI Last Updated: Lucknow, Aug 3 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh is experiencing a spell of heavy rainfall, which is expected to continue for the next 24-36 hours without significant change, as per the meteorological department. According to a press note from the meteorological department on Sunday, the active monsoon conditions are a result of a favourable synoptic situation. The monsoon trough has shifted north of its normal position, passing through Shamli, Shahjahanpur, and Lucknow. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation over the northeastern part of the state, adjacent to Bihar, is contributing to the heavy rainfall. Forecasters predict that the intensity of rain will gradually decrease from August 5, though a period of heavy rainfall is likely to persist until August 6. From 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, several areas recorded significant rainfall. Siddharthnagar received 96 mm, Amethi 70.1 mm, Bareilly 66.6 mm, and Kaushambi 65.5 mm. The state capital, Lucknow, recorded 61.5 mm. The rainfall caused a significant drop in temperatures, with Lucknow's maximum temperature falling to 28.5 degrees Celsius, which is 4.8 degrees Celsius below normal. The forecast for Lucknow suggests moderate to heavy rainfall in most areas on Monday with temperatures expected to remain below average. Tamil Nadu: Devotees throng Bhavani river confluence for Aadi perukku
Erode (Tamil Nadu) Aug 3 (PTI) In connection with 'Aadi perukku', thousands of devotees—including newly married couples—visited Kooduthurai, the confluence of the Bhavani, Cauvery, and the mythical Amudha rivers, at Bhavani, around 15 km from Erode, on Sunday. Deeply revered by Tamils, the Cauvery river is worshipped as a goddess, especially on the 18th day of the Tamil month Aadi. The day also marks the start of the sowing season preferred by most farmers. Devotees began arriving at the site as early as 5 am to take a ritual bath in the holy waters. They offered special prayers to the rivers and worshipped Goddess Vedanayagi and Lord Sangameswara.
