Egypt's Beheira school principal to be fired after employee convicted of sexually assaulting child
The ministry stated that it is convening its relevant committee to take the necessary actions to remove the principal, in coordination with the Beheira Education Directorate.
Additionally, a specialized committee will be formed to review all operations at the school and submit an urgent report.
A criminal court in northern Egypt today sentenced the 78-year-old man to life imprisonment for the sexual assault of Yassin under threat inside the school, located in Beheira governorate's Damanhour.
This verdict, issued during the first session of the trial, is not final and will be appealed as per the Egyptian law.
The convict, who worked as a financial supervisor at a language school in the same school as the child, stood trial to face charges of molesting Yassin in the school's bathroom and garage last year.
The case has sparked widespread outrage among the public, who demanded justice for the preschooler.
During the proceedings, the court accepted requests from Yassin's defense team to amend the charges, changing the classification of the assault from "non-violent" to "violent under threat."
Prominent attorney and former Parliament Member Mortada Mansour has publicly taken up Yassin's case.
Yassin appeared in court in a Spider-Man costume to maintain his privacy and support him psychologically.
The session was conducted under tight security due to the sensitivity of the case and the public interest it has generated with hundreds of protesters calling for the court to triumph for Yassin's rights.

What People, Media Say
The incident has provoked widespread anger in Egypt, particularly after reports surfaced that Yassin had been assaulted multiple times in the school restroom and garage.
Allegations have also emerged suggesting that a female school employee may have assisted the accused and that school management was aware of the situation but attempted to cover it up.
The events leading to the case date back to January of last year when Yassin's mother noticed her son's reluctance to enter the bathroom.
Upon further questioning, Yassin revealed that he had been sexually assaulted by a school staff member, prompting his mother to file a complaint.
Following a medical examination, a doctor reportedly confirmed signs of repeated sexual assault.
Yassin was able to identify the perpetrator through social media photos, and upon visiting the school with his mother, he reportedly recognized a staff member who was allegedly aware of the abuse.
The prosecution referred Yassin for forensic examination in Damanhour and requested investigative reports, summoning the school principal and the accused, now convict, for questioning.
The principal asserted that the man was appointed by the local diocese to oversee the school's accounts.
She claimed to have conducted an internal investigation, which reportedly concluded that Yassin was not in a stable condition.
After the mother challenged a previous decision by the prosecution that closed the investigation due to indecisive police findings, the court ordered a reopening of the case on January 14, following a ruling from the judge.
The prosecution then took further statements from Yassin's mother. It also summoned individuals who the mother claimed were intermediaries acting on behalf of the man, pressuring her and her husband to accept a settlement and drop the charges.
The female school employee, whom Yassin identified as having witnessed the abuse, allegedly concealed the actions of the accused after receiving payment.
The mother also mentioned another parent of three children at the same school who was aware of other unethical incidents similar to her son's case.
Education Ministry Intervenes
The Ministry of Education announced on Monday that its directorate in Beheira would take all necessary legal actions, alongside the school's legal representative and ownership, following a final verdict in the case.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline in schools and taking appropriate legal measures against any incidents that may harm or endanger students.

Cynthia Khalifeh Joins Ahmed El Fishawy in Film "Saffah Al-Tagamoa"
Yara Sameh Lebanese actress Cynthia Khalifeh is set to star alongside Egyptian actor Ahmed El Fishawy in the film "The Fifth Settlement Murderer" ("Saffah Al-Tagamoa"). Written and directed by Mohamed Salah Al-Azab and produced by Ahmed El Sobky, the film features El Fishawy playing Karim Selim, known in the media as the Saffah Al-Tagamoa. This is the second project to be developed about the murderer. In June 2024, Azab, the scribe of the crime TV series "Saffah Al Giza", is penning the series. The 8-episode show is produced by Ahmed El Sobky and has actor Hassan El Raddad lined up to take the lead role. Dubbed "the Fifth Settlement Murderer", in connection with a luxurious gated community on the outskirts of Cairo where he lived and killed his victims, Selim, a 36-year-old man and holder of a US passport, admitted during interrogation in May 2024 that he killed an unidentified number of women, other than the three whose bodies were discovered earlier that month. In the next weeks, the bodies of the women were discovered separately, each unclothed in deserted areas in provinces outside Cairo, as their clothes were extracted in other faraway areas afterward. The autopsy reports suggest that the three women were killed by the same person, as all showed similar signs of torture, including strangulation and flogging wounds. The evidence against the perpetrator also included a fingerprint on one of the women's clothes. Laboratory tests of the components of their stomach and blood further indicated narcotics in their system. Following investigations and the examination of CCTV footage in the areas leading to the location of the bodies, security forces managed to identify and apprehend the suspect. The authorities confiscated two mobile phones and a laptop belonging to him, on which he videotaped the incidents committed inside a soundproof room at his flat allocated for his practices. The videos in question showed him performing intercourse with his victims after they died. During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he knew his victims online, some of whom he claimed were courtesans. The suspect asked them to come over to his home, where he performed unusual sexual activities with them before he forced the women to consume drugs and killed them. The suspect acquired a college degree from the most prestigious university in Egypt, the American University in Cairo, and had worked as a teacher at an international school before he quit his job. TikTok given three-month deadline to align with Egyptian content standards: MP - Society
TikTok has been given a three-month deadline to adjust its content to align with Egyptian social and moral standards, according to MP Ahmed Badawi, a member of the House of Representatives' Telecommunications Committee. Speaking in a phone interview on Alaamat Istifham on Al-Shams TV, Badawi said the deadline was set following a high-level meeting last month between the CEO of TikTok Egypt and North Africa, the head of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA), and members of the parliamentary committee. During the meeting, TikTok pledged to revise its content moderation policies to better reflect Egypt's cultural norms and values. Badawi stressed that while Egyptian authorities retain the legal right to ban any app that violates national laws, he believes stricter regulation and targeted legislation are more effective than outright bans. He said the solution is not to block these platforms, but to enforce standards that reflect Egypt's social fabric. He added that the committee is actively monitoring TikTok content and is prepared to intervene if violations persist. Some types of content, he confirmed, have already been restricted. The Telecommunications and Information Technology Committee is currently exploring legal frameworks to regulate digital platforms, aiming to strike a balance between safeguarding freedom of expression and upholding public morality. The development comes amid growing public pressure to ban the Chinese-owned platform, with critics accusing TikTok of spreading content that 'violates societal values' and 'defames the reputation of Egyptian women.' In the past 72 hours, at least six prominent TikTok creators—including five women—have been arrested following legal complaints filed by private lawyers. The complaints name around 40 TikTok users, accusing them of charges ranging from spreading false information and violating public decency laws to undermining social norms. The controversy escalated after a viral video surfaced of a TikToker claiming to be the secret daughter of the late President Hosni Mubarak and a former pop singer. She alleged the existence of a human organ trafficking network operating in Egypt, implicating several social media personalities and actors. One of the actresses named in the video filed a formal complaint, leading to the TikToker's arrest on charges of spreading false news and defamation. According to data published by Statista in early 2024, TikTok has an estimated 32.9 million adult users in Egypt—roughly 47 percent of the country's population aged 18 and over.
