Will there be Squid Game 4? All we know about Lee Jung Jae starrer's future as season 3 finale leaves fans speculating

The South Korean phenomenon, Squid Game, came to an end on June 27 with the release of season 3, which saw a never-before-seen player take home the prize of 4.56 billion KRW. It was not Lee Jung Jae's Seong Gi Hun or Im Siwan's Lee Myung Gi who were left at the last stop of the final game, but the latter's baby with Jo Yu Ri's Kim Jun Hee. As the season came to an end, with a surprise cameo from Cate Blanchett, who can be seen taking over Gong Yoo's The Salesman role following his death, questions about a Korean Season 4 have been raised; however, there are no official plans for that yet. What is Squid Game: America, and will it be next season 4 for the Korean show? Previously, it was announced that David Fincher, the man behind Fight Club, Gone Girl, and many western hits, will be taking on the English-language adaptation of the hit Korean series. While no release date has been set, it is said that the filming for the USA version of Squid Game will begin this December. It is not known whether the story will resume from where it's left off in the Korean original or whether a total remake will be done. With Cate Blanchett's cameo, both seem just as possible as the other for Squid Game: America. The creator of Squid Game, director Hwang Dong Hyuk, previously addressed plans for a spin-off based on his story. Talking at the 2025 Gotham Television Awards, he shared, "If I make a spin-off, it will be a story happening between seasons 1 and 2. There was a three years gap between seasons 1 and 2, so I want to show what they did for those times." So it seems unlikely that any of our favorite original characters will make a return in Squid Game: America, but fans of the franchise can hope that the writer goes ahead with a spin-off, revealing more about Seong Gi Hun's life after winning the prize in the first season.

Petition filed to BAN BTS star SUGA from KBS broadcasts over DUI conviction

A formal petition has been submitted to the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), urging the network to restrict appearances by BTS member SUGA due to a past drunk driving offence. The petition, posted on KBS's viewer message board, calls on the broadcaster's Appearance Regulation Review Committee to evaluate the singer's eligibility for future broadcasts. Titled 'Request to restrict SUGA's appearance in relation to his DUI fine,' the petition references an incident from August 6, 2024, during which SUGA, while serving as a social service agent, was caught operating an electric scooter under the influence. His blood alcohol level reportedly exceeded 0.08% — enough to warrant license revocation under South Korean law. He was later fined 15 million KRW approximately $11,000 via a summary order issued in September 2024. As reported by allkpop, the petitioner argued that drunk driving is a 'serious offense that can directly endanger others,' and expressed concern over the potential message SUGA's presence on television could send to younger audiences. 'As a public figure with considerable influence over young people, SUGA's continued appearances on television could weaken public awareness of the gravity of DUI crimes,' the petition stated. The petitioner also noted that while KBS had not addressed the matter earlier due to the ongoing investigation, the legal process has since concluded, with the fine finalised on September 27, 2024. SUGA was officially discharged from his alternative military service on June 21, 2025. 'Prompt and fair measures must be taken to maintain public trust and uphold the broadcaster's responsibility as a public institution,' the petition concluded, urging swift action from the committee. As of now, KBS has not publicly responded to the petition.

BTS' SUGA turns supportive teacher for autistic teen, find out how 'voice is also instrument' changed kid's life

While the world knows BTS' SUGA as a world-class artist and producer, a recent story has shed light on another side of him. It highlights his deeply compassionate nature and influence off-stage. After completing his military service duties, SUGA quietly spent his spring volunteering at Seoul's Severance Hospital. There, he worked with children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In addition to donating a generous 5 billion KRW toward the hospital's new treatment center for developmental disorders, he played an active role in supporting young patients. He also took part in a groundbreaking therapy initiative that focused on encouragement and emotional connection. The MIND Program In November 2023, SUGA met Dr. Cheon Keun Ah, a child psychiatrist at Severance Hospital. Their meeting led to the creation of the MIND Program, an acronym for Music, Interaction, Network, and Diversity. The project was designed to offer music-based therapy sessions for children with autism. It aims to foster communication, emotional expression, and social development through shared musical experiences. Instead of focusing on traditional instruction, the program encouraged each child to explore their own form of expression: whether through instruments, movement, or sound. SUGA, fully immersed in the sessions, offered encouragement and created a supportive space where every child could feel seen and heard. A moment that spoke volumes In a recently released YouTube video, Dr. Cheon recounted one moment from the program that deeply moved everyone present. It involves a teenager with autism, someone Dr. Cheon had personally been treating for over a decade since early childhood. 'This child didn't know how to play any instruments, and in the early stages of the program, they were quiet and often expressionless,' she explained. But one day during a group music session, the teen appeared downcast while watching others play. With a quiet voice and downturned eyes, the child muttered, 'I don't know how to play any instruments…' SUGA, observing from nearby, didn't hesitate to step in. Kneeling beside the child, he gently replied, 'Your voice is an instrument too. Looks like you just have to sing then.' It was a simple sentence, but it changed everything. A smile, a song, and a breakthrough Dr. Cheon shared that the moment SUGA offered those words, the child's demeanor changed dramatically. For the first time during the program, the teen smiled brightly. He then began singing, loudly and confidently. 'Everyone was so shocked and moved!' Dr. Cheon said. It wasn't just a fleeting moment of joy, it sparked something lasting. The child reportedly went home and excitedly told their mother, 'Mom! Teacher Min said my voice is an instrument. I'm going to sing now!' At the next session, the mother arrived emotional and tearful, sharing her child's words with the staff. For a family that had walked a long journey with autism, this single experience meant hope and transformation.
