Club World Cup Winners Stunned Over Sharing Stage With President Trump
The FIFA Club World Cup concluded on Sunday (July 13) with Chelsea sending shockwaves throughout the global football world by defeating the European champions in PSG. As Chelsea players celebrated the massive upset win, President Trump, alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, handed over the Club World Cup trophy to the winners and was visibly instructed to step aside. Trump refused to do so, much to the confusion of the stars.
'I knew he was going to be here but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted the trophy,' Cole Palmer said to PA Media in a post-match interview. Chelsea captain Reece James added, 'They told me that he was going to present the trophy and then exit the stage, and I thought that he was going to exit the stage, but he wanted to stay.'
James also said he spoke with Trump but couldn't make out what he was saying fully due to the noise in the arena.
'To be honest it was quite loud. I couldn't hear too much. He just congratulated me and the team for lifting the trophy and told us to enjoy the moment,' James politely stated. It was perhaps not the reception the American president expected, what with boos raining down from the 81,000 in attendance. It wasn't all negative, as some fans stood and cheered for Trump.
In another bizarre turn of events, Trump elected to keep the FIFA Club World Cup trophy for himself, with Chelsea receiving a replica. Cole Palmer did receive the Gold Ball for his exploits on the pitch. No word yet if Trump had one given to him by FIFA as well. The Chelsea club won an estimated $114 million in prize money.
On X, formerly Twitter, reactions to President Donald Trump joining in the festivities of the FIFA Club World Cup have come in. We've got those reactions listed below.

UFC lightweight rankings: Ilia Topuria takes No. 1 spot after destructive title fight debut
The UFC lightweight rankings showcase some of the very best talents in MMA. The division has long been the deepest and most talent-rich in the sport's history. Several of its top competitors can also be found in the UFC pound-for-pound rankings. With that in mind, here are the official Sportsnaut rankings for the top 10 lightweights in the best cage fighting promotion in all the land. Advertisement 1. Ilia Topuria (17-0) Credit: Stephen R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images Ilia Topuria will go down as one of the great featherweights of all time. But instead of building on his 145-pound resume, 'El Matador' made the move up to lightweight in search of history. Well, he achieved that in June by becoming just the 10th fighter to win gold in two divisions. Crushing former 155-pound champ Charles Oliveria and adding him to his hitlist of legends. 2. Arman Tsarukyan (22-3) Credit: USA Today Sports Arman Tsarukyan has quietly been a top-10 lightweight for quite some time. During his run in the UFC, he has won many fights, and his only losses in the Octagon have come to the current champion, Islam Makhachev, and fellow ranked star Mateusz Gamrot. However, he has overcome those setbacks, and his impressive victory over Charles Oliveira got him the title opportunity he has worked hard for. Unfortunately, a debilitating back injury knocked him out of the bout a day before a scheduled opportunity at UFC 311. Advertisement 3. Justin Gaethje (26-5) Credit: USA Today Sports Justin Gaethje is one of the best lightweight fighters of his generation by earning a legion of fans for being one of the most durable and violent athletes in division history. The American has been in some of the best bouts in division history, including wins and losses. One of his most brutal defeats came at UFC 300 to Max Holloway. However, after taking a year off, he triumphantly returned with a big win against Rafael Fiziev at UFC 313. It helps him hold on to his top-five spot in our UFC lightweight rankings. Dustin Poirier (30-9) Credit: USA Today Sports Dustin Poirier is one of the most beloved lightweights of all time. He has taken part in some of the best matches in the division's history and won quite a few of them. However, the biggest mark against a stellar resume is coming up short in title fights. And despite his best efforts at UC 302, he fell to division king Islam Makhachev. Nevertheless, he remains one of the best 155-pounders in the world. Charles Oliveira (35-11) Credit: USA Today Sports Charles Oliveria owns several UFC records and will go down as one of the greatest Brazilian MMA fighters of all time. There is a lot to love about his fight style, and his resume is stacked with big wins. But age catches up with everyone, and it has affected 'Do Bronx.' He entered his UFC 317 clash with former featherweight Ilia Topuria as a sizable underdog. Well, those odds proved to be right as he was crushed by the one-time 145-pound champ in less than a round. Oliveira remains an elite fighter in the division, but he probably will never again fight for gold. Advertisement 6. Beniel Dariush (23-6-1) Credit: USA Today Sports Beneil Dariush turned into one of the best lightweights in the world during an impressive eight-fight win streak. However, when he faced the elites of the division, he came up short. He got a chance at another top-10 fighter at UFC 317. He needed a win badly, and 'Benny' was able to gut one out against Renato Moicano. He has set himself up for a big fight later this year. 7. Dan Hooker (24-12) Credit: USA Today Sports After moving back and forth between featherweight and lightweight, Aussie Dan Hooker has found a niche at 155 pounds. He also lands a spot in our UFC lightweight rankings after hard-fought wins over ranked opponents Jalin Turner and Mateusz Gamrot. While they weren't pretty, he's fairly earned a spot on our top 10. Advertisement Credit: USA Today Sports Former KSW two-division champion Mateusz Gamrot has proven he is a top-10-level fighter by scoring some big wins inside the Octagon. Despite his losses, he has always roared back with big wins and did some with key victories over Jalin Turner, Rafael Fiziev, and Rafael dos Anjos. However, his upset loss to Dan Hooker at UFC 305 is why he falls to the back of our latest UFC lightweight rankings. 9. Renato Moicano (20-7-1) Credit: Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images Over the last few years, Renato Moicano has evolved into one of the lightweight division's most entertaining fighters. However, his victories over Benoit Saint-Denis and Jalin Turner proved he was a top-10 talent as well. Being ranked means facing elite talent, and the Brazilian has gotten that in his last two bouts. And he has lost both. However, defeats to the former champ and another top 10 fighter keep him at his current spot in our UFC lightweight rankings. Advertisement 10. Paddy Pimblett (23-3) Credit: Stephen R. Sylvanie-Imagn Images Paddy Pimblett has his doubter, and if he likely still will after UFC 314, but the case against the Englishman is getting harder to make. Winning his first six straight in the Octagon put him on the map. But dominantly defeating Michael Chandler sent a message that 'The Baddy' is legit and could be fighting for lightweight gold in 2026. Miley Cyrus says mental health, sobriety prevent her from touring
Miley Cyrus is back with "Something Beautiful," a new, critically acclaimed visual album showcasing the pop star's many talents. In the new film and album, the 32-year-old embodies various roles -- a showgirl, a '60s European film star and more. "These kind of nuances were important for me, creating something that I feel is really modern and very now," Cyrus told ABC News. "But again, it's really honoring ... these kind of, like, you know, iconic women in film and in music." Cyrus describer her new project as an "ultimate fulfillment." "I'm just really proud of the outcome," she said. Miley Cyrus drops new album, 'Something Beautiful' Cyrus' creativity, work with top collaborators -- like her boyfriend, singer Maxx Morando -- and unmistakable voice are on full display in "Something Beautiful." "I definitely hear myself and go, you know, I have a very distinct voice," she said. "I always kind of sounded like this, but it's aged along with me and changed and evolved in all these different ways." Cyrus has been in the spotlight for over two decades, and on a recent podcast, the actor and singer mentioned vocal cord issues that she's been dealing with. She told ABC News she's now more aware of how important her voice is to her. "I've always, you know, I've had kind of a unique texture, and I've gotten really used to working with what I've been given and training appropriately, giving myself boundaries, because I realized how sacred it is to myself and to what I do," Cyrus said. Aside from her vocal cord issues, Cyrus said there are other reasons she's not planning to do a major tour for "Something Beautiful." "I do have the physical ability and I have the opportunities to tour. I wish I had the desire, but I don't," said Cyrus. "I also don't think that there is actually an infrastructure that supports artists." Cyrus, who has toured before, pointed to other artists, like the late singer Prince, and how their time on the road impacted them, saying she cares deeply about how the touring lifestyle can have a negative impact on someone. "It's really hard to maintain sobriety when you're on the road, which is a really important, kind of pillar of stability in my life," said Cyrus. She said she's also concerned about mental wellness as a touring artist. "You have so many thousands of people screaming at you, so dopamine, you're feeling a lot of love," said Cyrus. "And then you totally crash at the end of the show, and you start thinking that one person loving you is not enough, it needs to be 10,000, it needs to be 80,000." Cyrus said she will still perform, as she did with fellow megastar artist Beyoncé back in June, when they performed the "Cowboy Carter" track, "II Most Wanted," which they co-wrote. It's an experience Cyrus raves about. Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus surprise fans at Cowboy Carter Tour stop in Paris "When you're standing beside her, you can actually feel her desire and her passion," Cyrus said, referring to Beyoncé. "That to me is a win," she added. "It's not a trophy, it's not something physical that you hold or put on a shelf, but it's something that I have that's a true win." "Something Beautiful" will be released July 16 on Disney+ and Hulu. Disney is the parent company of "Good Morning America," Disney+ and Hulu.

Schauffele determined to win Claret Jug back
Reigning champion Xander Schauffele said on Tuesday he is "looking forward" to winning back the Claret Jug at this week's British Open in Northern Ireland, after enjoying his title celebrations last year. The American landed the trophy 12 months ago at Royal Troon with a superb final-round performance to secure his second major title, celebrating accordingly. Advertisement "The lid, it barely opens. I had a little tequila there in Portugal," he said of the famous British Open trophy. "I've had wine out of it, but not too much. I don't drink a whole lot. I definitely drank more after a few championships last year. "It's a bummer to give up the trophy this year. Looking forward to trying to get it back." Schauffele has struggled for his best so far this year but showed signs of a return to form with a top-10 finish at the Scottish Open last weekend. But he has made a habit of peaking at the majors, making 14 successive cuts in golf's biggest events and winning the PGA Championship as well as the British Open in 2024. Advertisement "If I can get myself in the mix is when I think I would have an advantage," said the 31-year-old, who was also an Open runner-up behind Francesco Molinari at Carnoustie in 2018. "That's where my biggest edge would be. I can lean on experience at other points in time, but I think the most fun and the biggest advantage I would have is coming down the stretch if I can get close to that lead." Despite only posting two top-10 finishes this year, Schauffele is still ranked number three in the world and has not missed a cut in a professional tournament since 2022. He will tee off in his first round at Royal Portrush at 9:58 am local time (0858 GMT) on Thursday alongside newly-crowned US Open champion J.J. Spaun and Spanish star Jon Rahm. jc/iwd
