Take it from someone who tests and reviews travel products for a living: The Calpak Terra collection is fantastic from top to bottom. This collection of wallets, sling bags, carry-ons, and travel accessories is made with recycled materials and water-resistant ripstop polyester that is, dare I say, practically impossible to scuff up or get dirty. I recently took the Terra 26L Laptop Duffel Backpack on a carry-on-only trek to Puerto Rico and have been using the Terra 35L Tote Bag for beach trips. Both have been absolute lifesavers for staying organized.
Now, I'm eyeing this Terra Laptop Backpack to add to my collection. Not only does it come with a myriad of zippered internal and external pockets and a luggage trolley sleeve, but it also has a padded laptop compartment that can be used for a hydration reservoir, transforming it from a commuter bag to a hiking pack. And just like the other bags in Calpak's Terra collection, this two-in-one duffel backpack is made from recycled plastic bottles and has a slick exterior that wipes clean. $165 $66 at Calpaktravel.com
What's hot pink, has wheels, and is 60 percent off? This one-of-a-kind Stevyn Rolling Duffel, of course! Previously $165, this $66 carry-on duffel has a large zippered bottom compartment to keep your shoes or bulky items separate from the rest of your clothes, a pass-through trolley sleeve, interior and exterior pockets, two spinning wheels, and reinforced grab handles. When you're tired of carrying it by hand, you can stand it upright and use the telescopic handle to pull it behind you in the airport. $48 $32 at Calpaktravel.com
Some adventures call for a smaller bag, and this Luka Mini Belt Bag, 35 percent off, is large enough to hold your most important items without weighing you down. On top of a spacious main compartment, this belt bag comes with a hidden back pocket for stashing your keys, ID, or cash, and has an adjustable nylon strap that can be worn on your waist or across your chest. Hundreds of Calpak shoppers have given a perfect five-star rating, with one reviewer noting that its mini size is perfect for 'everyday use.' $48 $39 at Calpaktravel.com
This might just be the cutest way to carry a water bottle. Made easy-to-clean, wipeable materials, this cinch-top water bottle holder is insulated to help keep your beverage cool, and is outfitted with three exterior pockets that can hold your sunglasses, sunscreen, wallet, or keys. The bungee cord opening allows for easy access to your drink, and the adjustable carrying strap can be worn as a crossbody or closer to your chest as a sling bag. $80 $56 at Calpaktravel.com

'I've been on the hunt for a TSA-compliant storage kit that also includes non-liquid storage for literal years, and I'm happy to say that my search is over,' they wrote. 'This product is both sleek and roomy, and can easily accommodate everything I need for trips up to 2 weeks.' $545 $273 at Calpaktravel.com

Tapping into big ideas for building up your travel business
Jamie Biesiada Have you considered selling travel to small businesses? Taylor Beckett, the owner of Luxury Corporate Travel in Grand Prairie, Texas, thinks planning travel for small businesses is "the most overlooked opportunity for travel advisors." "Like groups, once you have established a relationship with a business owner or someone in charge of company travel, you are given a list of travelers you can make bookings for without having to invest time in connection and retention with each individual traveler to secure their ongoing business," Beckett wrote in his new book, "Building a Book of Business for Travel Advisors" (Kihei Press, 2025). Business travelers are usually experienced in being on the road, Beckett said. And while they might not book many cruises or tours, they will book extended-stay trips, company retreats, high-end travel and group gatherings. Beckett's book is filled with advice on everything from targeting high-income bookings, to selling and closing, to connection and client retention. It's the second book for Beckett, who last year wrote "The Professional Travel Advisor Guidebook" (Kihei Press, 2024). The new book, he said, is aimed at everyone from new advisors to those who want to breathe a little life into their business. "There's a lot of different points in there," he said. "Hopefully just one of them is something that will either, if somebody's in a rut, can help bring them out of it, or if they're new, just gives them that spark to get those first couple of bookings so that they can open up to referrals." Referrals, by the way, are what Beckett considers one of the best ways to get more business. And, yes, he covers referrals extensively in the book. In it, he urges advisors to send "a gentle and consistent reminder to your current clients that you would like referrals." He even offers language for that reminder: "A referral is the highest form of a compliment I can receive. If you know of other travelers who would receive value from my services, please let me know!" Another topic he wrote about that he particularly liked is forming partnerships with influencers, Beckett said. "If they're able to mention your name to 100,000 people, that can be a big change in business for you," he said. Beckett's book is available for sale digitally and in print on Amazon. I want to hear from you Travel advisors, do you have any stories about crazy client requests? Maybe they wanted a short flight between New York and Singapore, or perhaps they asked for a tour of the real Hogwarts during their Scotland trip. Maybe it was something else entirely. Whatever it is, I want to hear about it — and how you handled it (or didn't; client breakup stories are fair game, too). I'm collecting the best stories to be included in an upcoming Travel Weekly report. You can submit yours online via this survey. I can't wait to read them.

Florida gas prices shot up double digits last week. Here's how much you'll pay at the pump.
Florida gas prices rose 20 cents last week as drivers prepared to hit the road for Independence Day, but eased back 6 cents before the weekend, AAA reported Monday. Despite the uptick, holiday travelers found the lowest Independence Day gas prices since 2021. On July 4, Florida gas prices averaged $3.11 per gallon – 42 cents less than 2024's holiday rate, and 15 cents below what drivers paid on Independence Day 2023, according to AAA.. On Sunday, the state average dropped to $3.08 per gallon, up 12 cents from the week before. "Lower oil prices helped make this Independence Day one of the most affordable in recent years. In Florida, however, prices continue to fluctuate week to week, as local stations adjust prices to remain competitive with nearby retailers," Mark Jenkins, spokesman for AAA, said in a statement. When prices reach a low that's no longer profitable, retailers raise them back up. Jenkins said this strategy has fueled short-term volatility at the pump, even as national prices and other drivers are relatively stable. Gas prices across Florida Florida's most expensive metro areas for gas include West Palm Beach-Boca Raton ($3.25), Naples ($3.16), and Sebring ($3.13). The cheapest markets are Panama City ($2.85), Crestview-Fort Walton Beach ($2.79) and Pensacola ($2.88). Tips for saving at the pump AAA encourages drivers to combine errands, drive conservatively, remove excess vehicle weight, shop around using the AAA mobile app, and consider paying with cash to avoid credit card surcharges. AAA members can also save by enrolling in gas rewards programs, such as Shell's Fuel Rewards or discounts at Love's Travel Stops. Travelers can find updated gas prices and plan routes using AAA's tools at
