Kanpur: KDMA school and DPS Azad Nagar clinched the boys and girls chess titles respectively at the Youth Olympic held on Tuesday at Allen House public school Khalasi Line. In the boys group, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Sanatan Dharam Vidyalya and Nurture International school Kalyanpur secured second and third positions respectively. In the girls group, Chintels school Kalyanpur and Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Sanatan Dharm Vidyalaya finished second and third respectively. Wrestling trials – Selection trials for district and divisional level wrestling teams are scheduled at Raj Narayan Khel vikas Sansha Lalhepur Udaypur Kanpur on July 19. The selected divisional team will compete in the state senior men wrestling championship at sports stadium, Gorakhpur during Nag panchami on July 28 and 29. As per the regional sports officer, interested wrestlers should meet officials at the venue with their birth and aadhar certificate or at the regional sports office Green Park on working days.

Kanpur: A stellar century from Mayank Tiwari powered Superior Spirit club to a 62-run victory against Kanpur South club in the knock-out match of the KDMA league held at the HAL ground on Thursday. Superior Spirit, batting first, posted 263 for 5, with Mayank Tiwari remaining unbeaten on 173. Dhananjay contributed 59 and Jai Prakash added 21 runs. For Kanpur South, Ashutosh Pandey took 2 for 44 and Misham Abbas picked up 2 for 63. In reply, Kanpur South were bowled out for 201, with Shivanmshu Sachan scoring 51 and Ayush Pathak making 47. Dhananjay Yadav took 3 for 30 and Nitin Tomar took 3 for 54. In other knock-out encounters, KDMA, Spark club and Prince club also progressed after defeating their opponents. At Kanpur South Ground, KDMA defeated PAC by 25 runs. KDMA posted 297 for 7, with Sudhanshu top-scoring with 120, Satyam Dixit making 45, Sumit Rathore 26, Satnam Singh 23, and Mahi Katiyar 24. Virat Jaiswal took 2 wickets for 59 and Shivendra Srivastava claimed 2 for 83. Chasing 297, PAC were bowled out for 272.
