Mark your calendars, and bring out your friendship bracelets (or make some). Taylor Swift might have concluded The Eras Tour, but Friendship Day is here! Although globally, it's recognized on July 30 as the International Day of Friendship, many countries celebrate it on the first Sunday in August, which this year falls on August 3. And why not a celebration? Friends are our most reliable fail-safe cushion. They jump at our tiniest achievement, turn into professional cheerleaders whenever we make a breakthrough from being stuck, and in general, are our go-to wing-people! They also are the ones who hold us (and tissue boxes) after bad job interviews, worse breakups, and even after the nastiest fallouts in our *dreamy* situationships! So, it's only normal that we celebrate those anchors who hold us at our best, as well ugliest! Whether you're planning a surprise for your forever crew or simply want to send a heartfelt message, there's no better time to express gratitude for the people who lift us up. From sweet, funny, or inspiring notes to vibrant images and social media statuses, here's your ultimate guide to celebrating friendship in 2025. Classic and thoughtful quotes to share A powerful quote can say everything you're feeling in just a few words. Here are some that speak volumes: 'Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one.'' – C.S. Lewis 'A friend is someone who knows all about you and still loves you.' – Elbert Hubbard 'Real queens fix each other's crowns.' 'You don't need a lot of friends. Just a few real ones.' 'Besties for life #FriendshipGoals' 'Cheers to laughs, loyalty & late-night talks. #HappyFriendshipDay' Creative and innovative ways to celebrate Friendship Day isn't just about messages; it's about meaningful connections and celebrating them. Here are some thoughtful ideas for 2025: Digital scrapbook: Fish out your funniest, most embarrassing, weirdest, and best memories! Whether those are written in slambooks or photos from yearbooks. Create a shared digital scrapbook with memories, photos, inside jokes, and song links. Use Google Slides or Canva to keep it collaborative. Voice notes and audio memories: Instead of texting, record a heartfelt voice note. Or better yet, create an audio montage of your shared memories. Mixtape still is unbeatable when it comes to expressing what we feel for them and how important they are to us. What you can't put into words, use songs to convey those emotions! It's quirky, creative, and one-of-a-kind, and on top of that, tearworks guaranteed! DIY friendship band kit: You can always get them those store-bought friendship bands. Better yet, make them yourself. And in case you're thinking of a shared experience in an art and craft class—just the way you used to have back in school—create your own friendship band kits with your buddies. Or simply send them by post, paste a stamp for a retro but touching gift. Virtual game/movie night: If you think long-distance relationships are tough, try keeping up with a long-distance friendship. It's tougher. It's a train of wanting to see your best mates, yearning to go out for a cup of coffee with them, or take them shopping for books and clothes, and crying inconsolably because—thanks to the l-o-n-g distance—you can't. So, if you're apart and longing for some time together with your friends, host an online trivia game or play multiplayer games like Skribbl, Among Us, or Uno online. Or if you're in the mood to binge-watch some content online, plan away; FRIENDS is only a few clicks away!
