Stars of new thriller The Assassin appear as trailer released
The trailer shows Hawes transformed into a gun-wielding action woman, complete with blood-splattered face and clothes.
'I used to do bad things. For money,' she says in one scene.
Hawes and Highmore appeared for a photocall at the Soho Hotel in central London alongside other actors who appear in the new series, including Shalom Brune-Franklin and Devon Terrell.
The six-part thriller sees the characters Julie and Edward forced to flee an idyllic remote Greek island and go on the run together when Julie's dangerous past catches up with her.
Hawes previously said she felt 'so lucky' to have spent last summer in Athens with the 'wonderful' Highmore and the 'high-calibre' cast and crew.
The series is the latest project by writing duo brothers Harry and Jack Williams, who produced the hit comedy Fleabag and created the thriller series The Tourist starring Jamie Dornan.
Hawes has previously starred in hit series including Line Of Duty, Bodyguard and Spooks, as well as Channel 4 drama It's A Sin and ITV political drama Stonehouse.
Highmore, who starred as the titular character in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory as a child, previously said it was a 'joy' to work on the project.
'It doesn't get better than a Greek adventure alongside the lovely and incomparable Keeley Hawes,' he added.

The annual Peugeot Attitude Pride Awards Europe was hosted by comedian and presenter Tom Allen at the Peninsula hotel in London on Friday and included performances by Bell and Frankie Grande, brother of singer Ariana. Yungblood, known for songs including Cotton Candy and Fleabag, reflected on his sexuality in an interview with Attitude this month in which he said the label of pansexuality allowed him to 'be who I am'. Of his music festival BludFest, which will be held in Milton Keynes, the singer said he felt proud of how young people are 'allowed to feel safe in our space, or come out in our space, or really feel loved in our space'. He has had two number one albums in the UK chart with Weird! in 2020, and his self-titled album in 2022. Dame Kelly won gold medals in the 800 metres and 1,500 metres at the 2004 Olympics in Athens at the age of 34 and was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year the same year. She retired in 2005 having won 12 major medals across a 10-year span, including Commonwealth golds over 1,500m in 1994 and 2002. Since retirement, Holmes has mentored young athletes, worked in TV and as a motivational speaker and written several books. She was made a Dame by Queen Elizabeth II in the New Year's Honours of 2005 and appointed Honorary Colonel of the Royal Armoured Corps Training Regiment in 2018. Andy Bell is best known for being half of the synth‑pop duo Erasure, the group behind the hit songs A Little Respect, Sometimes and Always. The singer released a solo album, Ten Crowns, earlier this year which features a song with the lead singer from Blondie, Debbie Harry. The Pride awards also honoured other 'heroes of the LGBTQ+ community', including Carla Antonelli, Spain's first openly transgender senator; Caroline Paige, the first openly trans officer in the British military; and the group Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners which featured in the 2014 film Pride and supported striking miners in 1984. Darren Styles, publisher of Attitude magazine, said: 'The Peugeot Attitude Pride Awards Europe 2025, supported by British Airways, have once again shone a spotlight on the incredible work being done within and for the LGBTQ+ community. 'This year, we're thrilled to celebrate 10 remarkable individuals who embody the spirit of pride, resilience, and progress. 'Their stories and achievements inspire us all and remind us of the power of visibility and authentic self-expression.' Mr Styles said the Attitude Magazine Foundation had raised almost £20,000 for LGBTQ+ causes through the event on Friday.

Line of Duty star Vicky McClure has taken her career in another direction after a huge social media announcement left her saying there is a 'first for everything' Vicky McClure is set for a big career change, it has been revealed. The Line of Duty actress is best known for her career in front of the camera. However, in a big announcement by band Reverend and the Makers, the star is set to be joining them on a new track. The band took to social media to make the revelation. Taking to Twitter /X the band excitedly wrote: "ANNOUNCEMENT KLAXON." They then penned: "Absolutely buzzing to announce we have a new single about to drop featuring, on lead vocals for the first time ever, the living legend @Vicky_McClure ' (plus a bit on @jonathanowen71 on bass) "The video also features another living legend so stay tuned for that. Let's have some love for Vicky the singer eh?" The band also shared a teaser clip of the tune's video. The song, called Haircut is coming soon and the video showed the actress and lead singer Jon McClure performing to a jubilant crowd. Vicky reshared the post to her own page and added: "First for everything! No one cooler to do it with! @Reverend_Makers," followed by three red love heart emojis. Fans were loving the news, with one user commenting: "Is there anything Vicky McClure cant do? Nice to see another McClure join The Makers." Another added: "Proper tunnnnnnne," while a third simply said: "Oh wow." Vicky's appearance with the band comes as they smashed their Glastonbury set at the weekend. The actress isn't stepping back from the small screen, however, with her latest announcement. She is also set to star in an upcoming Channel 5 drama titled Insomnia. The new psychological thriller follows Emma (Vicky), who is a successful woman. However, she suffers with sleep deprivation weeks before turning 40. The Radio Times billed it: "Successful lawyer Emma Averill is terrified that she is destined to suffer the same fate as her mother and experience a violent psychotic breakdown on her 40th birthday as a result of inherited 'bad blood'. 'A couple of weeks before the milestone, Emma stops sleeping and her world begins to unravel, straining her relationship with her husband Robert and children Chloe and Will. As her mental state fractures, Emma resolves to confront her family history to prevent tragedy striking successive generations." As well as Vicky, the thriller has assembled a cast including Tom Cullen, Leanne Best and Jade Harrison. The drama was initially a Paramount+ series before making its way to Five. The six-part series is an adaptation of the 2022 novel of the same name. It was wrote by bestselling author Sarah Pinborough. Vicky now features as Executive Producer on the on-screen production.
