Kneecap, Bob Vylan Glastonbury gigs under criminal investigation

London: British police have launched a criminal investigation into a televised performance at the Glastonbury Festival by rap punk duo Bob Vylan, who drew criticism after they led crowds of music fans in chanting 'death' to the Israeli military. Meanwhile, the US State Department said it has revoked the visas for the duo, who were set to go on tour in the United States later this year, after their 'hateful tirade at Glastonbury'. Rapper Bobby Vylan – who until the weekend was relatively little known – on Saturday led crowds in chants of 'free, free Palestine' and 'death, death to the IDF [Israel Defence Forces]' at Britain's biggest summer music festival. The BBC said it regretted livestreaming the performance. 'The antisemitic sentiments expressed by Bob Vylan were utterly unacceptable and have no place on our airwaves,' the broadcaster said, adding that it 'respects freedom of expression but stands firmly against incitement to violence'. Loading British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and UK politicians condemned the chants, saying there was no excuse for such 'appalling hate speech'. Avon and Somerset Police said the performance, along with that by Irish-language band Kneecap, was now subject to a criminal investigation and have been 'recorded as a public order incident'. Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza has inflamed tensions around the world, triggering pro-Palestinian protests in many capitals and on college campuses. Israel and some supporters have described the protests as antisemitic, while critics say Israel uses such descriptions to silence opponents.

Heartbreaking new detail revealed amid search for beheaded South Australia man allegedly murdered by reality star girlfriend Tamika Chesser

A heartbreaking detail has emerged in the desperate search for the head of a decapitated man in South Australia, as his ex-reality star girlfriend remains at the centre of the tragic killing. Julian Story, 39, was found dismembered at a property on Flinders Highway, Port Lincoln on June 19, after authorities were notified of a small fire. Police confirmed his head had been removed during the dismemberment and they are still attempting to locate it so his family can lay him to rest. It has now also come to light Mr Story celebrated his 39th birthday just a day before he was horrifically killed. Investigators believe the South Australia man was killed about midnight on June 17. His partner, former Beauty and the Geek star Tamika Chesser, 34, has been charged with the crime. Police charged the ex-reality beauty with murder, destroying human remains to pervert the course of justice, and a separate charge of assaulting an emergency worker. Chesser was arrested at the scene at the couple's home, as police now turn to the public for information on her movements in the week of the alleged murder. CCTV footage has been reviewed by police of a woman, alleged to be Chesser, walking three dogs while dressed in a black hooded outfit and carrying a bag, during the time of the alleged murder and attempt at burning Mr Story's body. Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke told the media on Friday Chesser "doesn't really use a vehicle" and he hoped people would call in to help with her possible movements. He further added it is "crucial" for police to locate Mr Story's head. "I can only imagine the grief this is causing Julian's family. "Julian's family are devastated. "Tamika Chesser remains in custody charged with murder, and that this was not a random incident." On Monday, Chesser's sister told 9News she had been concerned about her sibling's mental health in recent months. 'It just started getting worse,' she told the outlet. 'She started being in and out of mental health. She didn't mention anything and she just told everyone that she loves them. 'It's my sister, but that's not who she is or the Tamika we know. 'That's not the Tamika anyone knows.' Police have allege Chesser was in a 'catatonic' state when she was arrested. 'The accused was seated in a garden chair in the rear yard adjacent to Unit 3 in a catatonic and unresponsive state at this time,' according to court documents seen by NewsWire. Chesser sported a shaved head as she appeared in court via a videolink from mental health facility James Nash House, according to Daily Mail Australia. She was refused bail by Magistrate Ben Sale at the hearing, and a committal hearing was scheduled for December. She is currently being held under a mental health detention order. Chesser's sister added her family has not yet made contact with her, as she remains unresponsive. Chesser, who was runner-up on her season of Beauty and the Geek, has also modelled for men's magazines including Playboy, Ralph and FHM. Describing herself as a 'model and actress', Chesser also published explicit content on adult subscription site OnlyFans. Her old social media posts reflect she was interested in Jewish and Hindu mythology. In a post from June 2024, she wrote about her 'spiritual journey'. 'Our Creator our Father and our Mother Nature our Earth are crying out to us all,' she wrote. 'What do you think your ancestors would say in regards to the life you're currently living? Would they be proud? 'What do you see behind the makeup, behind the false lashes behind the hair cut or perfectly groomed beard … behind the Botox … Is the flesh you reside in of relevance? Does it make you the person you are?' Anyone with information that may assist the investigation has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Baldivis childcare centre cops hefty $45,000 fine after two-year-old lost during ‘spontaneous' excursion

A Baldivis childcare centre has been fined $45,000 for inadequately supervising a two-year-old child who was found alone on the side of a busy road after wandering away from a bush excursion. The child was part of a group of 13 children supervised by two Aspire Early Education and Kindergarten Baldivis educators on a 'spontaneous' trip to Smirk Road Reserve, located opposite the childcare centre, in September last year. During the excursion, the lead educator claimed she conducted headcounts every five minutes but had no means of recording the numbers, filling in a record when she returned to the service. Three children were collected by their parents from the reserve, and the next time a headcount was performed it was noticed that the two-year-old child was missing. 'Both (educators) scanned the area and saw (the child) at least 60m away on the south side of the reserve . . . the child was being held by a member of the public,' a judgment published by the State Administrative Tribunal said. Before then, the driver of a Transperth bus had spotted the child standing very close to the edge of Sixty-Eight Road, which has a speed limit of 70km/h. He slowed down and pulled into a nearby bus stop. At the same time, another motorist following the bus also pulled over and walked over to the child, picked her up and walked her towards a grassed area. An educator then came running from about 50m away. 'At her age and unsupervised in bushland situated close to traffic, (the child) was at risk from harm and from hazards, including traffic hazards, likely to cause injury,' the SAT said. The judgment said the spontaneous excursion should not have been allowed at all, with trips to be planned in advance taking into account risk factors. At least three educators should have also been involved in supervising the children and parents should not have been allowed to collect their kids from the excursion as to not distract educators. The educators also should have had a means for recordings their headcounts. It was accepted that the centre had been fully cooperative in the investigation and had acknowledged the seriousness of the incident, accepted full responsibility and expressed genuine contrition. Spontaneous excursions are also now prohibited across all services and must be thoroughly planned with safety measures reviewed. The child remains enrolled at the centre and the family is 'fully supportive'. Department of Communities regulation and quality executive director Angelo Barbaro said inadequate supervision within the education and care services sector was a 'significant concern'. 'A momentary lapse of supervision can significantly increase the risk of harm to children,' he said. 'Approved providers must ensure that appropriate risk assessments are in place to ensure the safety of children when on excursions and that appropriate supervision practices are in place at all times to keep children safe and to avoid being penalised'.
