Chelsea Handler opened up about why she doesn't interview celebrities as much as she used to during a recent Q&A
She previously interviewed various stars on her late-night talk show series
Handler now hosts her podcast, where she gives advice about love, sex, family and loss
Chelsea Handler is sharing why she moved away from interviewing celebrities after years of talking to them on her late-night talk show.
The comedian and bestselling author, 50, shared during an onstage Q&A at the 2025 PHM Healthfront Conference in New York City on May 1 why she felt 'tapped out' with these celebrity interviews — and why she's invited her therapist to be on her Dear Chelsea podcast over the years.
'When they said I would want you to do a podcast. I was like, yeah, I know, but everyone has a podcast,' the former Chelsea Lately host recalled of her early podcasting days when she was in her 40s. 'And I had just come out of a two-year, serious stint in therapy and I thought, 'How can I do something where I'm talking to real people, not celebrities?' '
'I'm tapped out with that. I need to talk to real people. And then I thought, 'God, I've learned so much from this therapist,' ' she continued. 'His name was Dan Siegel, that I went to. His name still is Dan Siegel.'

Siegel first appeared on Handler's Life Will Be the Death of Me iHeartRadio podcast in 2019, and then again on Dear Chelsea in 2022, among other public conversations together over the years.
'He was very expensive, and I know not everybody has access to that,' she added. 'I treated therapy like I was getting my master's degree. I was so serious about learning about myself and learning about the mind.'

Dear Chelsea, a weekly advice show that Handler co-hosts with Catherine Law, features a variety of guests nowadays — not just celebrities. Recent celeb guests in 2025 have included Rob Lowe, Rufus Wainwright, Dylan Mulvaney, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Rachel Bloom, Antoni Porowski, Naomi Watts and Topher Grace.
'I am always giving people unsolicited advice,' Handler said of the podcast format. 'I always have been, what if people actually called in and asked for advice for their life problems?'
On the podcast, the I'll Have What She's Having author gives advice about love, sex, family and loss. Listeners are encouraged to email DearChelseaPodcast@gmail.com with questions on those topics and more.
Handler's latest comedy special, Chelsea Handler: The Feeling, is currently streaming on Netflix.

This Coen Brothers comedy is an underrated Netflix movie to watch this weekend (August 1-3)

Opening Netflix in 2025 is a very different experience than it was 10 years ago. The movie selection is tilted much more toward movies that Netflix produced, and as a result, you're often served up a lot of pretty trashy titles. Don't get me wrong, Netflix has made some great original movies, but it's also made plenty of terrible ones. That's why picking what you want to watch from the service can be something of a challenge. This week, we've pulled together three underrated titles that are all worth your time for very different reasons: Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on HBO Max, and the best movies on Disney+. Burn After Reading (2008) One of the Coen brothers' less celebrated films, in part because it came in the immediate wake of No Country for Old Men, Burn After Reading tells the farcical story of two gym employees who try to blackmail a former CIA analyst after they stumble upon classified information. Along the way, we see just how stupid many of the people who work in the government are and how their bumbling lives intersect with occasionally deadly consequences. Burn After Reading is deeply funny, but it's also a movie about the people who run our country and how fundamentally pathetic most of them are. You can watch Burn After Reading on Netflix. American Graffiti (1973) A movie made in 1973 that looks backward to an even earlier time, American Graffiti is one of the definitive teen movies, even if it's not George Lucas' crowning achievement. The film follows a group of friends who all have different adventures on the last night of summer vacation before they go off to school or to find gainful employment. The movie itself is mostly lighthearted, but it's also a wistful look at a particular moment in life when things don't feel totally real yet, and you can do anything you want. You can watch American Graffiti on Netflix. The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020) Aaron Sorkin's directorial career has been fascinating and strange, but there's a lot to like in The Trial of the Chicago 7. Based on true events, the film follows the trial of seven defendants who were a part of countercultural protests at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. The movie's at its best when it's exploring the tension between the various groups within this trial. The trial reminds us how close these events truly are to the present day. Although the writing is definitely flowery in an Aaron Sorkin way, the movie is compelling throughout, in part because courtroom dramas are such a sturdy formula. You can watch The Trial of the Chicago 7 on Netflix.

Hulk Hogan to be cremated, memorial service plans revealed

Memorial plans have been set for Hulk Hogan a week after the legendary wrestler died at age 71. Hogan will be laid to rest in a memorial service on Aug. 5, set to take place at a church in Tampa, Florida, a source told Us Weekly. Documents obtained by the outlet on Thursday also revealed that Hogan's body will be cremated. The Pinellas County Forensic Science Center in Largo, Florida, approved the cremation on Wednesday. Hogan's death was confirmed on Thursday to be the result of an acute myocardial infarction, more commonly known as a heart attack. His manner of death was listed as natural. Although few other details were provided, official records cited by Us Weekly said the wrestling star also had a history of leukemia CLL, a type of cancer that usually impacts older adults and affects white blood cells called lymphocytes. It's unclear when Hogan was diagnosed with CLL or if he was battling the cancer in the days before his death. At the time of his passing, the World Wrestling Federation Hall of Famer was reportedly in the midst of filming a Netflix documentary about his life and career. Sources associated with the doc told CNN the previously unannounced project has been in the works since 2024. Producers reportedly culled more than 20 hours of unseen sit-down interviews with Hogan, in addition to 30 hours of scenes already shot. According to an insider, viewers are promised to 'see a side of (Hogan) they haven't seen before.' The plan is still to complete the film as production remains ongoing, though certain portions will have to be reworked, sources said. A release date has not yet been set.

'Happy Gilmore 2' Just Broke Netflix Records

Happy Gilmore 2landed onNetflixlast Friday, and in just three days racked up 46.7 million streams. It's the biggest U.S. opening weekend in Netflix history. The sequel had all the makings of a perfect storm. Golf is having a cultural reawakening, intersecting more than ever with recognizable names in entertainment, sports and fashion. The original Happy Gilmore is already a cult classic, cementingAdam Sandler's rise in comedy and delivering one of cinema's most memorable golf scenes (Bob Barker, anyone?). But the sequel went bigger, built almost entirely around cameos from figures orbiting golf culture plus some of the game's biggest names:Bad Bunny,Travis Kelce,Scottie Scheffler,Nelly Korda, Jack Nicklaus and Fred Couples come to mind. The marketing push matched the scale, with brands like U.S. Bank, Callaway and Subway jumping in on the hype, while Netflix fostered a sense of urgency with a limited streaming window from July 25–31. Whether the movie leaned too hard into campiness or cameo culture is up for debate, but the numbers speak for themselves. A golf franchise, one that sat dormant for nearly 30 years, just became Netflix's most-watched opening weekend ever. That alone is a cultural milestone worth noting.
