Kings make roster move involving two-way rookie Isaac Jones
Sacramento Kings rookie Isaac Jones has been upgraded from a two-way contract to a standard NBA deal, the team announced. The news was first reported by Shams Charania of ESPN.
Jones will reportedly sign a two-year contract with the Kings that will likely be non-guaranteed in the second year. He will now be eligible to play in the postseason on a standard contract for the Kings, who are ninth in the Western Conference (35-35).
The undrafted forward from Washington State is averaging 3.7 points and 1.5 rebounds on 67.6% shooting from the field in 31 appearances with the Kings. He has scored in double figures three times, including 12 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal on March 10.
Jones has spent part of the season in the G League, averaging 21.3 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, one steal and one block on 56.7% shooting from the field in 15 games with the Stockton Kings. He produced a career-high 42 points and five rebounds on Jan. 20.
The 24-year-old earned G League Player of the Week honors earlier this season after averaging 30.3 points, 10 rebounds, 1.8 assists and one block on 42.1% shooting from 3-point range from Jan. 21-27. He led all players in the G League in total scoring (121) and field goals (50).
Jones was recognized for his play with Stockton after receiving an invitation to play in the G League Up Next Game at NBA All-Star Weekend in San Francisco, California. He totaled eight points, two rebounds and two assists in two games.

For fans of the Boston Celtics who have hoped to see free agent big man Charles Bassey sign with their favorite ball club, there may yet be hope in spite of rumors that the Sin City Celtics Las Vegas Summer League standout may be headed overseas next season. The fact that the Celtics had to cut 2025 G League Most Valuable Player JD Davison to get under the second apron may be one of the major hurdles to a potential signing for Bassey with the Celtics, meaning another trade opening up more cap space (or enough of the 2025-26 regular season making a prorated salary fit under the second apron, a less likely scenario) would have to happen first. There is also the need for both sides to want such a move for it go down of course, and despite Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens having praised Bassey by noting he's been on the team's 'radar' for some time now, that doesn't mean there isn't a bigger fish (or a desire to save money) preventing such a partnership, at least in the short term. Bassey put up an impressive 15.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game with the Celtics in Las Vegas this summer league. And with the team looking for a long-term solution to frontcourt depth, there is a solid argument for bringing on the former San Antonio Spurs center, should other elements align. Former Thunder Olivier Sarr back in NBA on Exhibit 10 deal with Raptors
While the Oklahoma City Thunder mostly sat out the offseason, several former members of the NBA champion found a new home across the league. The latest is Olivier Sarr. He signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Toronto Raptors. Sarr spent three seasons on the Thunder from 2021-24. He sparingly played 46 games across those three seasons. He was signed to a standard deal, a two-way contract and a handful of 10-day deals during his time in OKC. The 26-year-old mostly played with the G League's OKC Blue. Sarr helped the Blue capture the 2024 G League championship. He suffered a torn Achilles in the Blue's Game 3 win over the Maine Celtics to capture the trophy. That April 2024 knocked him out for the entire 2024-25 season as he rehabbed his injury. Now, Sarr is back in the NBA. He hopes to have a strong enough training camp and preseason to be added to the Raptors' G League affiliate. From there, the seven-footer can spend the year with the Raptors 405 working toward a possible two-way deal. Sarr's younger brother Alex was the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NBA draft. The Washington Wizards hope the 20-year-old can build off his rookie season with a strong sophomore campaign that legitimizes his spot as a franchise cornerstone.

Alex Laferriere agrees to three-year, $12.3 million contract to stay with Kings
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Forward Alex Laferriere has agreed to a three-year, $12.3 million deal to stay with the Los Angeles Kings. The Kings announced the deal Saturday for Laferriere, who was a restricted free agent this summer after playing out his entry-level contract. The 23-year-old Laferriere had 19 goals and 23 assists last year for the Kings, emerging as a dependable scorer in only his second NHL season. He largely played on the right wing alongside center Quinton Byfield, another key member of Los Angeles' young core, and high-scoring Kevin Fiala. A third-round pick in the 2020 draft, Laferriere has 31 goals and 34 assists in 158 games for the Kings. New Los Angeles general manager Ken Holland has taken care of his most pressing summer contract issues after the signing of Laferriere, but Holland said last month that he would be eager to sign Adrian Kempe to a long-term deal as the Swedish forward heads into the final season of his current contract.
