The UAE's dynamic cinema and e-gaming industries have achieved impressive milestones in 2024, further solidifying the nation's position as a global entertainment hub.
The cinema sector alone surged to AED800 million in revenue, driven by a growing appetite for high-quality cinematic experiences. A total of 1,262 films were screened across UAE cinemas, with 15 million tickets sold, highlighting the country's commitment to providing top-tier entertainment to its audiences.
The nation's ability to showcase global film premieres, coupled with films offered in over 20 languages, underscores its cultural diversity and growing influence in the international film market. Strategic early releases of global productions have also positioned the UAE as a prime destination where audiences enjoy international films alongside major markets worldwide.
At the same time, the e-gaming industry saw a remarkable growth, generating over AED1.5 billion in revenue. This surge reflects the increasing demand for video games, with 375 titles reviewed and classified under the UAE's robust age-rating system. Such measures ensure the delivery of age-appropriate content, reinforcing the public's trust in the nation's media regulations.
Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, emphasized that these achievements are a testament to the Council's commitment to enhancing the competitiveness of the cinema and e-gaming sectors. By fostering a business-friendly environment, the UAE continues to support the growth of entertainment content. With advanced infrastructure and flexible regulatory systems, the country remains a leading hub for media and creative industries.
As the UAE strengthens its media sector, it continues to attract investments, cultivate talent, and foster global partnerships, driving further growth and reinforcing its status as a world-class destination for media content creation.
