Charli XCX to produce, star in legendary Japanese director Takashi Miike's next
The untitled project marks the second film under Charli's Studio365 production banner, following her upcoming A24 collaboration The Moment. While plot details remain tightly under wraps, Miike's reputation for boundary-pushing violence and genre-blending horror suggests this will be no ordinary venture. The script is penned by Ross Evans, currently developing How to Save a Marriage for Sony with Robert Pattinson attached as producer.
Charli's leap into film comes on the heels of her wildly successful sixth studio album Brat, which dominated charts, earned her three Grammys, and solidified her place as a pop innovator. Now, she's channeling that momentum into a string of high-profile acting and producing roles.
Her growing film slate includes 100 Nights of Hero, Erupcja, Faces of Death, I Want Your Sex, Sacrifice, and The Gallerist; working alongside talents like Natalie Portman, Jenna Ortega, Olivia Wilde, and Nicholas Galitzine.
Miike, a master of shock and style, has directed over 100 films across genres, and his body of work has earned him cult status worldwide. His latest feature, Sham, will premiere at this year's Tribeca Film Festival.
