Maruti Suzuki's FRONX becomes the fastest SUV to clock 1 lakh exports from India
Launched in April 2023 in India, the export of FRONX commenced to markets like Latin America, Middle East, and Africa, the same year.

Big focus on exports from India
Maruti Suzuki is the number 1 passenger vehicle ('PV') exporter* from India for the past 4 consecutive financial years. With over 96,000 vehicles exported in Q1 FY 2025-26, the Company's share in PV exports from India stood at an all-time high at 47%. Maruti Suzuki currently exports 17 models to nearly 100 countries. Top countries for export include South Africa, Japan and Saudi Arabia.
Exports in FY 2024-25
The Company's export volumes in FY 2024-25 exceeded 3.3 lakh units, highest ever in any financial year. This marked a growth of 17.5% over the previous fiscal. FRONX, Jimny, Baleno, Swift and Dzire were the top exported models.

And now, the company has updated the Fronx compact SUV with six airbags as standard throughout the lineup, leading to a 0.5% increase in ex-showroom prices starting July 25, 2025. The compact SUV features the silhouette of the Baleno hatchback with the styling and stance of the Grand Vitara SUV. Fronx features a split grille with headlights placed on the lower bumper. At the back, the Fronx gets a distinctive tailgate design with a connected LED taillamp. Maruti Suzuki Fronx Introduced With Six Airbags As Standard; Prices Revised
Maruti Suzuki India Limited is working on making its cars safer for the Indian market. The latest one in the list to get the safety upgrade in the form of six airbags as a standard feature is the Fronx. The change has been implemented effectively immediately. With this change in place, the prices of the SUV will see an upward revision of 0.5 per cent. This comes following the availability of the feature on XL6, Baleno, Ertiga, and more. With this update, the Fronx is now included alongside other models in the Nexa and Arena lineup, such as the Ertiga, Baleno, Alto K10, Celerio, WagonR, Eeco, Swift, Dzire, Brezza, Grand Vitara, Jimny, and Invicto, all of which now feature six airbags as a standard specification. Before the Fronx, the latest models that received this enhancement were the Ertiga, Baleno, and XL6. Earlier, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had declared that all new passenger vehicles would be required to have six airbags as a standard feature by October 2025. Consequently, all original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in India have started making the necessary changes to their products. Before this, Maruti Suzuki had also announced that the Fronx had become the fastest vehicle in the country to reach 1 lakh export units. The SUV achieved the milestone within 25 months of launch. It is to be noted that the Fronx is manufactured in the brand's Gujarat facility and is exported to over 80 countries in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and Japan. The Maruti Suzuki Fronx made its debut in India in April 2023. By the fiscal year 2024-25, the brand had shipped more than 69,000 units of the Fronx, making it the top exported passenger vehicle in the country during that time. In addition to the Fronx, the list of the brand's most successful export models included the Jimny, Baleno, Swift, and Dzire. During this period, the company achieved its highest annual export volume ever, exceeding 3.3 lakh units, which represents a 17.5 percent rise compared to the prior fiscal year.

Automakers accelerate flex fuel vehicle development ahead of new CAFE rules announcement
KOLKATA: Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) and Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) have all stepped on the flexi fuel accelerator following the minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari's recent remark that new Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE) rules would balance both electric and flex fuel engines. This means the new CAFE 3 framework, due in April 2027, will give flex fuel vehicles that run on petrol-ethanol blends the same regulatory benefits as EVs. Flex fuel refers to petrol mixed with ethanol anywhere between 20% to 100% that is derived from the fermentation of sugars and starches found in plants. Gadkari's recent remarks follow a meeting he held last year with representatives of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) in which he asked automakers to look into ways of making these flex fuel vehicles more acceptable to the public, citing Brazil's successful integration of flex fuels and biofuels in its transportation. During the Bharat Mobility Show 2025, automakers displayed flex cars — Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Toyota Hycross, Hyundai Creta, Tata Punch, and Mahindra XUV 3XO — that can run on up to 85-100% ethanol. While ethanol is less expensive than petrol, there is a downside to the fuel: it delivers less efficiency or mileage by 30% than pure petrol. Toyota plans to overcome this disadvantage by electrifying the flex fuel vehicle using strong hybrid technology. "Strong hybrid cars with petrol engines are usually 40% to 50% more fuel efficient than petrol-only vehicles. So the loss in efficiency from E100 will be more than compensated by the improved efficiency of a strong hybrid with less carbon footprints," said TKM Senior VP & director (technical & purchase) Sudeep S Dalvi, who expects the rollout of flex fuel vehicles to be aligned to government policies and regulations. Maruti Suzuki has in its 2030 product plan said 25% of its vehicles will be compatible with ethanol-blended fuel E20 while another 25% will be hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) . At present, it has two HEV products in its portfolio: the Grand Vitara and Invicto, which use Toyota's Strong Hybrid Technology.
