NBA legend savaged by fans for outrageous claim about his career
Pierce spent 19 seasons in the NBA, predominantly with the Boston Celtics, before retiring in 2017 and joining FS1 sports talk show Speak as a panelist.
During their recent broadcast, the trio of analysts discussed LeBron James ' claims that Kevin Durant is the most 'equipped' scorer in NBA history.
Pierce, 47, seemingly took that personally and, during the most recent episode of Speak, took a moment to suggest why he is in fact the 'best pure scorer' in history.
Pierce said: 'I was probably the best pure scorer in the history of the NBA. I was pretty equipped when I think about it. I'm just saying I need to be in the conversation'.
The former Celtics star was then asked a number of questions by ex-NFL star and fellow Speak host Keyshawn Johnson about his scoring abilities.

'Could you pull up from the elbow?' Johnson asked. A confident Pierce swiftly replied: 'I got all that'.
Johnson proceeded to ask whether Pierce could 'knockdown a three', 'back them down' and 'dunk', to which his co-host replied: 'All of that!'
After the clip was posted on Speak's account on X, fans were quick to troll Pierce and suggest that his claim was wide of the mark.
'He's not even a top 50 scorer of all time,' one user said, with a string of laughing emojis accompanying his message.
'Paul Pierce is always saying what no one else is thinking,' another brutally quipped.
'I like Paul, but he's no Jordan. Let's be serious,' another user wrote. Michael Jordan sits fifth in the all-time point scoring standings and has the joint highest PPG in league history.
'For a guy nicknamed The Truth he sure does f***ing lie a lot', another wrote.
While Pierce was mocked by fans on social media over the claim, there is an argument to say that the former Celtics star should be in the debate, at the least.
He sits 18th for most points in NBA history after averaging 19.7 points over his career and 20 or more in eight separate seasons.
Durant, however, sits 10 places above Pierce in the standings and with a staggering 30,571 points scored compared to the FS1 host's 26,397. He also boasts a PPG average of 27.2 which dwarfs Pierce's 19.7.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James sits atop the list with 42,184 points scored during his dazzling career.

Too soon to say if Mbappe will start against Dortmund, Alonso says
EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey, July 4 (Reuters) - It is too soon to say whether Kylian Mbappe will start in Real Madrid's Club World Cup quarter-final match against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, coach Xabi Alonso said, as the French forward continues his recovery from gastroenteritis. Mbappe made his tournament debut on Tuesday as Real Madrid edged Juventus 1-0 to reach the quarter-finals after missing all of the group stage. "He's getting better. He's been improving over the last three days," Alonso told reporters at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Friday. "Tomorrow morning we will be deciding if he will be part of the initial 11." Mbappe came off the bench as a substitute in the second half of the Spanish side's 1-0 win over Juventus in Miami on Tuesday, earning wild applause in a scene that underscored his global appeal at the U.S.-hosted tournament. Mbappe was briefly hospitalised early in the tournament, isolated from his teammates as he recovered. Alonso's team have leaned on Gonzalo Garcia to deputise in his absence, as the 21-year-old academy graduate has recorded three goals - including Tuesday's winner - and an assist in a breakout performance at the competition. "I think (Garcia and Mbappe) could complement each other and if it's something that is required, it's not something I'm going to turn a blind eye to," said Alonso. They face a Dortmund team in solid form on Saturday, after the German side held off a stirring second-half fightback from Monterrey 2-1 this week to book their spot in the final eight. "Dortmund is a very good team. As soon as (coach Niko Kovac) was at the helm, they were growing and developing and on the rise," said Alonso. "We are facing a tough opponent... It's gonna be tight tomorrow."
