Actor Priyanka Chopra shared a heartfelt note on social media as she expressed regret over missing the theatrical re-release of Rekha-starrer 'Umrao Jaan', which she described as her 'favourite movie'. The 1981 movie has been restored by the National Film Development Corporation-National Film Archive of India under the National Film Heritage Mission.Set in the 19th century, the film traces Amiran's (Rekha) arrival in a brothel in Lucknow and her relationships with three key characters played by Farooque Shaikh, Raj Babbar, and Naseeruddin Shah.Adapted from Mirza Hadi Ruswa's 1899 novel 'Umrao Jaan Adaa', the film received widespread acclaim for its layered storytelling, soulful music, and Rekha's powerful performance as Amiran, which earned her her first National Award. It also bagged National Awards for Best Music Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Female Playback Singer, along with three Filmfare Awards.Meanwhile, Priyanka will next be seen in 'Hedas of State' along with Idris Elba and John Cena. Chennai: One of India's top directors Atlee, who released the trailer of 'Phoenix' which marks the debut of actor Vijay Sethupathi's son Surya Sethupathi as an action hero, has called the film "a product of pure hard work". Atlee, who took to his X timeline to release the trailer of the explosive action entertainer that has been directed by stunt choreographer turned director Anal Arasu, wrote, "Phoenix is a product of pure hardwork.@ActionAnlarasu master's long awaited directorial debut—and what a stunning one! Can't wait to finally share the trailer with you all." The film, which will mark the debut of Surya Sethupathi as an action hero in a lead role, features a host of actors including Varalakshmi, Sampath, Devadharshini, Muthukumar, Dilipan, Ajay Ghosh, Harish Uththaman, Moonar Ramesh, Abhinakshathra, Varsha, Naveen, Rishi, Nandha Saravanan, Murugadas, Vignesh, Sreejith Ravi and Aadukalam Naren among others. The trailer begins with a cop explaining how he was present at the scene of a crime when it took place. We eventually get to know that a boy has killed the son-in-law of a powerful person and that he has now been lodged in the Chengalpattu home. We also get to learn that the person who was killed suffered 36 cuts. The cops begin to investigate if there was previous enemity between the attacker's family and the victim. We then get introduced to the hero's character, who, it appears from the trailer, appears to be a kickboxer. A voiceover calls him a phoenix, saying he keeps coming back from the dead. We also get to learn that there are people who want him dead that very day. Under these circumstances, the boy is seen posing a question. "Why should they always win? Shouldn't we ever taste victory. What is your problem? Is it because we are winning or is it because we are winning over you?" The film, which has music by Sam CS, has been produced by AK Braveman Picturess Rajalakshmy 'ANL'Arasu. Cinematography for the film is by Velraj R and N John Albert has co-directed the film. Editing for the film is by National Award winner Praveen K L and stunts are by Anal Arasu himself. Art direction is by Madhan K and choreography is by Baba Bashkar and Johny.

Harshvardhan Rane trains for transformative role in Omung Kumar's upcoming action drama
Actor Harshvardhan Rane is stepping into a never-before-seen avatar as he preps for a physically demanding and emotionally intense role in an upcoming film helmed by National Award-winning director Omung Kumar. The project, which remains untitled, is slated to begin filming on July 1. Rane, best known for his roles in Sanam Teri Kasam and HaseenDillruba, has already begun rigorous martial arts training to prepare for the action-heavy role. Sharing a glimpse of his preparations on Instagram, he wrote, 'Training for something I have never showcased on screen before for @omungkumar Sir's film. Shoot starts 1st July.' The training session, led by coach Kuldeep Shashi, highlights the actor's dedication to completely transforming himself for the part. While plot details are still under wraps, the film is already generating buzz thanks to its impressive cast and ambitious scale. Speaking about his lead actor, director Omung Kumar said, 'Harshvardhan was my first choice for this role. He brings a rare blend of raw honesty and quiet intensity. He's not just playing the character — he is the emotional and physical core of the film.' Rane recently completed shooting for EkDeewane Ki Deewaniyat, but he shows no signs of slowing down, diving straight into prep mode for this next venture. Joining him in the film are Karan Veer Mehra and Sadia Khateeb, adding further depth to a promising ensemble. The project is presented by Zee Studios and jointly produced by Blue Lotus Pictures and Stark Entertainment, in association with Innovations India.
