‘Dhadak 2' box office collections day 3 (Live): Tripti Dimri's film slows down; mints Rs 8 crores
'Dhadak 2', the much-anticipated follow-up to the 2018 romantic hit, has now completed its first weekend in theatres. While the film opened with some promise, its Sunday performance showed a dip in momentum.
As per early estimates from the Sacnilk website, the film collected Rs 75 lakhs on Day 3, bringing its total India net collection to Rs 8 crore.
Reportedly, the movie opened on Friday (August 1) with Rs 3.5 crore, saw a slight uptick on Saturday with Rs 3.75 crore, but the expected Sunday surge didn't materialize. There was a low occupancy of 13.78% across Hindi-speaking regions. This indicates that the film is yet to get good traction from the Hindi audiences.
Regional trends and audience footfall; Mixed signals from big cities
Among metro regions, Bengaluru showed the highest occupancy at 29%, hinting at relatively better engagement in urban centers. NCR (17%) and Mumbai (16%) followed, while Pune remained lower at 12%.

Directed by debutant Shazia Iqbal, the film stars Tripti Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi, supported by Saurabh Sachdeva, Zakir Hussain, and Deeksha Joshi. The chemistry and emotional depth of the lead pair were expected to be 'Dhadak 2's strength, but it appears the film needs more than nostalgia to pull audiences back in.

With 'Dhadak 2', Tripti Dimri's fourth Hindi film hit theatres, her box office trajectory is gradually taking shape. Her highest grosser so far remains 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' with Rs 260.11 crore, followed by 'Bad Newz' and 'Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video'.
'Dhadak 2', now her fourth-best performer with Rs 7.25 crore, may still grow depending on weekday stability. Meanwhile, the movie is getting mixed reviews from the audiences. An excerpt from ETimes review reads, "The film is an engaging and heart‑rending watch, though the final resolution feels a touch restrained. It is worth watching for its sincere and sensitive portrayal of an issue that continues to plague society even today, and for a stellar performance by Siddhant Chaturvedi.

When Hombale Films, the production house behind the KGF movies, joined hands with Ashwin Kumar's Kleem Productions to distribute its first-ever film, Mahavatar Narasimha, they probably didn't imagine the magic it will create at the box office. The animated film, produced by Kleem Productions and directed by its founder Ashwin, is reportedly made on a budget of Rs 15 crore. The budget was recovered in the first weekend itself, as the film made Rs 16 crore. But then, something unexpected happened. Word-of-mouth took over, and the film witnessed a sharp growth in collections. It made Rs 44.75 crore in its first week. On its second Sunday, the film saw a jump of over 150% compared to its first Sunday and collected Rs 23.1 crore. Despite the release of films like Dhadak 2 and Son of Sardaar 2, the animated film, inspired by the legend of Narasimha (which shows the fourth avatar of Lord Vishnu) is steady at the box office with a collection of Rs 7.9 crore on Tuesday. Of this total, Rs 5.25 crore came from its Hindi version. Meanwhile, new Hindi releases Dhadak 2 and Son of Sardaar 2 collected as less as Rs 1.75 crore and Rs 2.76 crore , respectively, on the same day. The number of shows in Kannada and Malayalam is not reported. With the increase in the number of shows across India, the animated film stands at a total collection of Rs 106.05 crore. The number of shows given to Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur's film is 2237, and 1383 to Siddhant Chaturvedi's Dhadak 2. Both films are made on higher budgets and are a part of ongoing franchises. With no big releases scheduled for this weekend, chances are Ashwin Kumar's film will soon hit the Rs 150 crore mark if it continues its momentum. The movie is expected to spawn a franchise itself.
