Analysts flag Nestle, F&N, Farm Fresh, Mr DIY as stimulus winners
CIMB Securities said food and beverage (F&B) producers like Nestle (M) Bhd, Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd, QL Resources Bhd, and Farm Fresh Bhd are likely to benefit from increased demand for staple F&B products, many of which may be eligible for purchase using the RM100 credit.
"Other retailers such as Mr DIY Group (M) Bhd, Padini Holdings Bhd, Aeon Co (M) Bhd, Yoong Onn Corporation Bhd, Bonia Corporation Bhd, Berjaya Food Bhd, and 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Bhd, could see improved footfall and higher spending per customer as disposable incomes increase, amplified by the recent 25 basis point overnight policy rate cut to 2.75 per cent," it said.
CIMB Securities said that within the consumer sector, it remains in favour of companies that benefit from the steady demand for everyday essentials and are well-positioned to tap into consumer downtrading by targeting the mass-market segment.
It expressed a positive view on the consumer sector following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's recent announcement of new fiscal support measures.
However, the research house is maintaining its current earnings forecasts, noting that the fiscal measures are already in line with its existing revenue growth assumptions for the companies under its coverage.
It reiterated a "Neutral" stance on the sector, which is trading at 27.2 times one-year forward price to earnings ratio, slightly more than one standard deviation below its five-year average of 29.1 times.
CIMB Securities said current valuations appear reasonable, given the backdrop of subdued consumer sentiment, higher sales tax on discretionary goods, ongoing boycott-driven impact on certain companies such as Nestle (M) and Berjaya Food, as well as cost pressures from the widened Sales and Service Tax on rental expenses.

MOF Warns of RM100 SARA Aid Scam Links
The Finance Ministry (MOF) has clarified that recipients of the one-off RM100 SARA aid do not need to register, amid growing concerns over scam links and misinformation spreading online. Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying said the aid will be automatically credited to all eligible MyKad holders aged 18 and above starting Aug 31, and any claims that users must sign up through online portals are false and potentially dangerous. 'We've received numerous inquiries and complaints about fake websites and links related to RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) aid registration. 'Let me be clear, these are scams. Do not click on or share them,' Lim emphasised, while stressing that no application is needed as the aid will be directly credited to recipients' MyKad. On July 23, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that a one-off RM100 SARA cash aid that will be credited via MyKad to all Malaysians aged 18 and above. This part of broader Madani government initiatives, which also include toll hike postponements and a RON95 fuel price cut to RM1.99 per litre later this year. Lim added that in the event eligible individuals do not receive the payment by Aug 31, the government will provide follow-up information and guidance. Meanwhile, Lim also revealed that the government is reviewing proposals to include wet goods such as chicken, fish and meat under the SARA programme. 'The consideration is part of ongoing efforts to align the programme with real consumer needs, especially among lower-income households. 'We're open to feedback. Any expansion will be thoroughly studied in consultation with relevant stakeholders, including the recipients themselves,' she said. As of May 1, the SARA programme covers 14 categories of essential goods, including food, medicine, hygiene products, school supplies and household cleaning items, amounting to over 90,000 eligible products nationwide. KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reminded Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) members to hold firmly to the call for islah mastata'tum, meaning to strive for change to the best of one's ability.
