Isham Jalil threatens to sue Madani cytros for defaming him as Najib's adviser to acquire 25 Boeing planes

FORMER UMNO supreme council member Isham Jalil is on the look-out for lawyers who would assist him to draft letters of demand (LOD) for Madani cybertroopers who accused him of acting as an adviser to incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak in his 2017 negotiation with Donald Trump who was the then US president.
Isham who was once a special officer to Najib claimed that the cybertroopers had slandered him given he was 'never directly involved in the Boeing acquisition negotiations nor was he part of Najib's delegation to the US'.
'I like it when PH (Pakatan Harapan) politicians and their 20-sen walanon gang (hardcore PMX supporters) do this kind of work. Because I have the opportunity to sue them and make millions,' he penned on his Facebook page. 'When I win the suit, I will buy a motorbike.'
Setting the record straight, Isham clarified that Najib did not buy the 25 Boeing planes as claimed by detractors but in fact, he had 'signed a non-binding MOU (memorandum of understanding' instead.
'We didn't buy but leased 16 from the international leasing firm that bought the aircraft with terms depending on the current market conditions,' revealed the former UMNO information chief who was expelled from the party on Dec 7, 2023 for opposing the party's collaborations with DAP in elections.
'The then Malaysia Airlines CEO can confirm this.'
Isham who has in recent times become a harsh critic of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim further took a swipe at the Madani government 'for directly buying 80 aircraft through government-linked company (GLC) Malaysia Aviation Group Bhd (MAG) by incurring a debt exceeding RM100 bil'.'
For the record, MAG had in 2016 placed an initial order for 25 Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft with 13 planes having been received since November 2023 while the remainder are to be delivered progressively until 2027.
However, MAG had on March 20 this year finalised an additional order for 30 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft with deliveries expected to take place from 2025 to 2035, according to Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.
Although only 30 planes were originally planned, critics believe that the recent order for another 30 appear to be a last-minute add-on which is likely to please Washington in order to unlock tariff relief from 25% to 19% – a dangerous precedent where strategic assets are used for political appeasement.
'The current total fleet of MAS is approximately 80 aircraft with many years left before the expiration date,' he justified.
'You want to buy twice as many aircraft and double the fleet size with hundreds of billions in debt even though your profit has dropped to only RM54 mil?'
Added Isham' Our airline's record is not good and always loses. Moreover, the aviation industry is both instable and full of risks.
'And yet you still want to take on debts amounting to more than 10% of the country's total accumulated debt because you want to buy 80 more aircraft?
'If your investment or 'gamble' turns awry, who will bear these hundreds of billions in debt? It'll be the rakyat who eventually suffer.' – Aug 5, 2025

MADANI principles guide large-scale housing projects in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: All large-scale housing developments in Malaysia must be guided by the MADANI principles, with particular emphasis on providing essential public infrastructure, including educational facilities, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today. He said that any housing project comprising 3,500 residential units or more must include access to schools, public transport, healthcare facilities, and small business spaces for hawkers. 'I urge serious attention to this. Every project must align with the MADANI principles. If there's a school nearby, parents earning RM3,000 monthly wouldn't need to spend RM300 to RM400 just to send their children to school. This not only reduces transportation costs but also enhances the safety of their children. 'This is what it means to be truly concerned about the people's problems. If a project lacks an education component, say in the case of high-rise housing, developers should allocate several blocks to build vertical schools with dedicated lifts. 'The development cost of these schools would be relatively low, and the Ministry of Education will bear that portion,' Anwar said at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Residensi Aman MADANI project in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, here today. Also present were the Prime Minister's wife and Bandar Tun Razak Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, and Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Maimunah Mohd Sharif. Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, also directed all relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Housing and Local Government, city mayors, city and municipal councils, and all related departments, to closely monitor all housing projects in their areas to ensure full compliance with the MADANI concept. He further emphasised the need for developers to expedite construction to prevent undue hardship for homebuyers. 'Some housing projects have remained unfinished for eight years due to poor planning that failed to consider critical factors. These delays often become politicised. I want all projects to be completed promptly to ease the burden on the people,' he said. - Bernama

Ramasamy: Jinx or not, the Chinese and Indians are again marginalised under 13th Malaysia Plan

WHAT is the point of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim defending the government's Bumiputera policies when the government has given in other areas to the overall detriment of the country. Succumbing to the trade dictates of the US to obtain the 19% tariffs reduction is an example of a national policy gone wrong. At the same time, Anwar defended the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) by vouching that it was far superior to other five-year plans because financial allocations to the Bumiputera community far exceeded them. Again, it is the same contradictory Anwar who defended the 13MP by saying that it was race and religious neutral. Yet the Chinese and Indians were given pittance in financial allocations. The Malaysian Economic Transformation Unit (MITRA) that used to be allocated RM100 mil per year seems to have been abandoned. Opposition, too deprived Chinese, Indians In this respect, the 13MP is the worst five-year plan in comparison to others. Essentially, the Chinese and Indians have been taken for long ride. Yet there are cheerleaders in the DAP and PKR who seem to be blind and deaf to the injustice committed by the Madani government. Given the political competition between the ruling Pakatan Harapan (PH)-led coalition and the opposition Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition on the matter of Bumiputera, the Chinese and Indians have become politically irrelevant. Since the focus of the opposition is overwhelmingly on Bumiputera matters, Chinese and Indian matters do not pose a political problem for the Madani government. Interestingly, Chinese and Indian matters are not even given prominence by political parties within the PN coalition. Even if the government does not give importance to Chinese and Indians, surely the opposition has a duty to take up matters of the Chinese and Indians at least to pressure the government to address them. The overly mono-ethnic concerns of the opposition could be one of the reasons why the government neglects the pressing issues of the Chinese and Indians. Without this inclusive approach, then it would be difficult for the opposition to make serious in-roads in the Chinese and Indian communities. – Aug 6, 2025 Former DAP stalwart and Penang chief minister II Prof Ramasamy Palanisamy is chairman of the United Rights of Malaysian Party (Urimai) interim council. Large housing projects must include schools, preschools

CHERAS: All large-scale housing projects involving at least 3,500 residential units must include educational infrastructure such as schools and kindergartens to meet the needs of the local community, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today. He said proper urban planning must move beyond constructing buildings and instead focus on ensuring access to essential services — particularly for low-income families — such as education, healthcare, childcare, and green spaces. 'Public housing should not be seen solely as a shelter. We are not just constructing houses — we're developing communities,' Anwar said. He added that projects located far from existing schools must allocate a dedicated block for a vertical school, and that every new development must include a preschool within the building. 'These are clear instructions. If these conditions are not met, the project cannot proceed in full,' he said during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Residensi Aman Madani project in Bandar Sri Permaisuri today. Also present at the event were Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Federal Territories Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa. Anwar also questioned whether the project had sufficient space allocated for a kindergarten, noting that many urban families earning RM2,000 to RM3,000 a month are forced to send their children to distant facilities. 'I've directed that kindergartens be incorporated within the building. If they aren't already planned, this needs to be corrected,' he said. To ensure compliance, Anwar has summoned the developer, the Kuala Lumpur mayor, and relevant authorities to meet him next Monday with an updated layout. 'It won't take long — just 10 minutes. Show me where the school, the kindergarten, the preschool area, and the healthcare block are,' he said. He stressed that all developments of this scale must be planned with infrastructure such as schools, preschools, clinics, and recreational areas in place from the outset. 'This is what the Madani framework is about — proper planning, not just building for the sake of building,' he said. The Residensi Aman Madani project is part of the government's broader housing agenda under the Madani initiative, which prioritises affordability, livability, and inclusivity. As part of the project, 18 Gerai Penjaja Madani units will also be built to support local entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises. Anwar said small traders and hawker stalls must not be sidelined in favour of large commercial outlets. '85% of people in Kuala Lumpur eat at small stalls and warungs. Only 15% go to high-end restaurants,' he said. 'We're not against upscale eateries, but city planning must reflect the needs of the majority.' He criticised the poor state of many hawker stalls — some with leaking roofs and inadequate amenities — despite their vital role in urban life and the economy. 'Our focus can't just be on gleaming towers. We must also uplift the small businesses that matter to ordinary people.' Anwar concluded by reiterating that public housing projects will not be approved unless they clearly incorporate community needs and are implemented with transparency. 'City planning must be free from corruption and focused on the real needs of the people — food, education, healthcare, transport, and public space.'
