When is the Dubai Fountain reopening? Emaar announced the expected date

If you're a resident or a visitor in Dubai, you would have heard the news of the Dubai Fountain being shut off for big makeover. The last performance took place on April 19, with the 'glow-up' expected to last a couple of months. No official date was announced by Emaar at the time, but they have just stated it is expected to reopen by October 2025. The date was revealed in a response to a comment on the official Emaar Instagram account on a video shared by the leading real estate developer that details how the Dubai Fountain is maintained. ' Hello. Kindly be informed that the Dubai Fountain is expected to be fully operational by 01 October 2025, in line with the projected timeline. Thank you', said the comment from @emaardubai Instagram. This means we have just around three months of waiting to go, which isn't too long. And of course you have plenty of other ways to keep you distracted in Dubai this summer. We have some top ideas here. Why is the Dubai Fountain so special? Before it closed, the Dubai Fountain was one of the city's most iconic attractions, captivating thousands of visitors with its breathtaking water shows set to music, all in the shadow of the Burj Khalifa. Why did the Dubai Fountain show stop? Image: Unsplash The temporary closure is to essentially make way for a bigger and better show. The world's tallest performing fountain display will be closed for five months for an upgrade and planned maintenance. The upgrades are said to include more advanced technology being implemented, improved choreography, and enhanced sound and lighting systems. They are currently submerged within the 30-acre Burj Lake and the fountains shoot up to 22,000 gallons of water as high as 140m in the air. The fountains previously ran every 30 minutes from 6pm to 11pm every day. Missing the Dubai Fountain show? Currently, there are state-of-the-art digital screens that have been put up across the promenade that display the Dubai Fountain show – in a digital format of course. It mimics the colours of the Burj Khalifa LED screens which is quite mesmerizing to watch. According to an Emaar statement, 'It is designed to animate the location with engaging visual content and help retailers maintain footfall during the fountain's closure.' Stay tuned to as we are just as eager as you are to see the new show. Images: Unsplash > Sign up for FREE to get exclusive updates that you are interested in

5 of the best restaurants in Dubai this week: July 1 to July 3

Menus are changing with the weather, and this week's fresh additions are made for summer. From just-launched seasonal dishes to limited-time menus from some of the city's most creative kitchens, these five restaurants in Dubai are serving something new — and seriously worth trying. TOTÓ Images: Supplied TOTÓ Dubai has just launched a summer menu that brings serious coastal Italy vibes. Start with the insalata di polpo – chilled octopus with green beans, tomatoes, and violet potatoes in a zesty citrus dressing. The bruschettone al pomodoro features grilled sourdough topped with garlic, ripe tomatoes, and basil, while mussel lovers should dive into the garlicky sauté di cozze, inspired by Naples. On the pasta front, highlights include the beef-stuffed ravioli di brasato, tagliatelle alla bolognese, and a vibrant shrimp risotto finished with Amalfi lemon. You'll also find gnocchi alla sorrentina baked in tomato and mozzarella, and the calamarata allo scoglio, loaded with fresh mains, tuck into Mediterranean-style grilled prawns or the ultra-tender veal cheek, slow-cooked and served with mash and demi-glace. Seasonal grilled vegetables round out the summer spread. It's all been curated by Chef Angelo Santi, a longtime star of the Italian food scene, so you know you're in expert hands. For mains, there's shish kofte simmered in rich tomato sauce, a hearty Mediterranean pasta with eggplant and cheese, and perfectly grilled shish chicken served alongside seasonal vegetables. One of the standout dishes? The comforting maqlouba rice, layered with golden fried eggplant and cauliflower, full of flavour and soul. End on a sweet note with an apricot tart or pistachio ice cream, elevated with a scattering of jewel-like pomegranate seeds. Bob Vylan dropped by talent agency following 'death to the IDF' chant

British punk duo Bob Vylan have been dropped as clients by United Talent Agency (UTA) following their performance at Glastonbury Festival, where vocalist Bobby Vylan chanted "death to the IDF (Israel Defence Forces)". The chant was misreported in the Daily Mail as "death to Israelis". Both Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Glastonbury Festival condemned the remarks. In an Instagram post, Bobby Vylan related a story about his daughter filling in a survey about her school dinners. "Today it is a change in school dinners, tomorrow it is a change in foreign policy," he wrote. UTA, which is based in Beverly Hills, California, also dropped actor Susan Sarandon after she spoke at a pro-Palestine rally in November 2023. Weeks earlier, the agency's vice chairman branded a letter seeking to defend pro-Palestine students as "rife with falsehoods about Israel", adding that it sought to "defend the horrific savagery of the Hamas massacre".
