CWG Live updates: Storm chances rise again later today ahead of a hot Thursday

Welcome to updated around-the-clock by Capital Weather Gang meteorologists. Happening now: Partly sunny morning skies, then increasing afternoon clouds with humid highs around 85 to 90. After the break from rain yesterday, shower and storm chances rise again midafternoon into evening. What's next? Temperatures spike into the 90s tomorrow as the heat index reaches 100 to 105. Not quite as hot Friday through Sunday with at least some chance of showers and storms each day. Today's daily digit — 4/10: You're welcome for a whole day off from significant storm chances yesterday. They're back later today along with the usual humidity. | 🤚 Your call? The digit is a somewhat subjective rating of the day's weather, on a 0-to-10 scale. Forecast in detail Today (Wednesday): Partly sunny morning skies give way to increasing afternoon clouds with highs in the mid-80s to near 90. With the usual high humidity (dew points in the mid-70s), scattered storms are a decent bet midafternoon into evening. Flooding downpours and isolated damaging winds are possible. Confidence: Medium-High Tonight: Scattered showers and storms could still be around during the evening with more downpours possible, then mostly cloudy overnight. Muggy lows in the low to mid-70s. Confidence: Medium Tomorrow (Thursday): Skies turn partly to mostly sunny after the chance of an early-morning shower or thunderstorm. That sends temperatures soaring to afternoon highs in the low to mid-90s, and feeling like 100 to 105 with the grossly high humidity. A few fast-moving storms with strong winds and heavy rain are possible late afternoon into evening. Confidence: Medium Tomorrow night: A few of those fast-moving, strong storms possible in the early evening. Otherwise partly cloudy and muggy with lows in the 70s. Confidence: Medium A look ahead No change of pace Friday through Sunday. Partly sunny and humid each day with highs in the mid-80s to near 90 and a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly during the afternoon into evening. Out of the three days, Saturday may end up slightly less humid with a touch lower chance of showers and storms. Overnight lows continue in the low to mid-70s. Confidence: Medium We're excited for a change in the weather pattern! Whenever that comes, which doesn't look like next week. Sigh. Next week looks like more highs in the mid-80s to low 90s, high humidity and probably a chance of showers and storms most days. Warm, humid Wednesday in Philadelphia region with chance of scattered storms. Here's the weather forecast.

Another seasonably warm and sticky summer day is expected on Wednesday in the Philadelphia region, along with pop-up showers and storms. The storms will happen mainly during the afternoon and evening hours. In fact, we'll keep that pattern in place through Friday with partly sunny skies and isolated storms each afternoon. Temperatures will also soar to either side of 90 during the day and mid-70s at night. High humidity will lead to heat indices that feel close to 100 degrees. We will be monitoring for any possible heat alerts, and with the very high dewpoints, flooding rain will remain a concern in any thunderstorm. The best day of the extended forecast looks to be Saturday, with highs in the upper 80s, plenty of sunshine and reasonable humidity levels. Then, it's back to active weather with showers and storms on Sunday. Your NEXT Weather Team will keep you posted. Wednesday: PM storm chance. High 88, Low 75. Thursday: Hot, a thunderstorm. High 92, Low 76. Friday: Partly sunny. High 89, Low 78. Saturday: Mostly sunny. High 88, Low 71. Sunday: Showers likely. High 86, Low 74. Monday: Shower early. High 86, Low 74. Tuesday: Mostly sunny. High 85, Low 71. NEXT Weather Radars Hourly Forecast
