New in town: Kichi Kichi Omurice's Chef Motokichi coming to SG next month

Yahoo03-06-2025
If you've seen Chef Motokichi Yukimura slicing open fluffy omelettes over fried rice online, you'll know why I'm so excited. From 10 Jul, Kichi Kichi Omurice's collab with Tsukimi Hamburg in Singapore will unveil 2 new menu items.
Omurice, featuring a layer of omelette covering a bed of rice usually stir-fried with ketchup, is a common Japanese meal. Kichi Kichi Omurice's rendition of the dish features an omelette with a runny centre, flowing down the rice and topped with demi-glace sauce.
To create the 2 special menu items, Tsukimi Hamburg's head chef travelled to Kyoto. The recipes are the result of a joint effort from both chefs, and you know I'll definitely be trying them out. Thankfully, the dishes are a permanent addition to Tsukimi Hamburg Singapore's menu!
The first collaborative dish, the Kichi Kichi Omurice (S$12.80), features that signature omelette with a twist. Literally. Drawing upon the popular trend, a 'tornado' omelette covers the fried rice instead. The visuals are impeccable with thick demi-glace sauce running down the ridges of the omelette.
If you're not familiar with demi-glace, think of it as ketchup's mature older brother. Jokes aside, demi-glace offers an umami-rich flavour through a combination of bone broth and aromatics that's reduced into a sauce.
Next, we have the Kichi Kichi Hamburg Omurice (S$16.80). Above the fried rice peppered with edamame and chicken lies a meaty, juicy burger patty. It features the same 'tornado' omelette as the Kichi Kichi Omurice, though you might be too preoccupied with the giant hamburg steak to notice!
If the food isn't exciting enough for you, why not try your luck for a meeting with Chef Motokichi himself? On 11 and 12 Jul, Chef Motokichi will be hosting a cooking showcase at Tsukimi Hamburg's Jurong Point outlet.
With 40 pairs of tickets up for grabs, a single receipt with a minimum of S$20 spent at Nex or Jurong Point's &JOY Japanese Food Street will give you 1 chance. The lucky draw period only lasts from 3 to 30 Jun, so remember to save your receipts. And yes, the curated meal will be free!
So what's holding you back? Take a trip down to &JOY Japanese Food Street during the lucky draw period, and save a date in your calendar to give the Tsukimi Hamburg X Kichi Kichi Omurice collab a try!

Metal Art of Wisconsin Announces Unveiling of Personalized Refrigerated Party Center, The Chill Daddy

07/23/2025, Manitowoc, Wisconsin // PRODIGY: Feature Story // Metal Art of Wisconsin, the family-owned company known for turning steel and wood into statement pieces, has just dropped its most innovative invention yet, the Refrigerated Chill Daddy ™. And if the explosive presales are any indication, America is ready for it. During a limited presale run in December, The Chill Daddy sold 150 units in just two minutes on Fox News and has since gone viral with a video on TikTok with 1 million views. Now shipping nationally, The Chill Daddy is quickly becoming the ultimate must-have for hosts, tailgaters, campers, and anyone who wants their beverage cooler to say something personal. Born from the company's iconic Freedom Cabinet, a lockable flag display that cleverly stores guns or spirits, The Chill Daddy is the next evolution in portable, modular, and customizable beverage chilling. Founder Shane Henderson calls it 'a refrigerated party center.' But would say it's a must-have gift of the year. With its numerous available bolt-on accessories, from Bluetooth speakers, subwoofers, to mixology accessories, making its buyers the life of any party. 'Instead of giving the same old boring gift for Father's Day, Mother's Day, birthdays, or anniversaries, The Chill Daddy is something people can really use and it tells their story,' said Henderson, who started Metal Art of Wisconsin in a two-car garage with his son back in 2013. The Chill Daddy is built from polyethylene construction with blow foam insulation, making it ultra-durable and exceptionally well-insulated. Designed for flexibility, its modular interior shelving accommodates cans, beer bottles, wine, or even mixers, perfect for cocktail enthusiasts. The drop-down door transforms into a bar top, giving users a space to mix drinks, serve guests, or just flaunt it during the next backyard barbecue. Unlike traditional fridges, The Chill Daddy doesn't lose significant coolness when open, even after 10 minutes. With internal fans, an efficient R600 refrigerant system, and eco-mode operation, it's as smart as it is showstopping. Once down to temperature, it can cycle energy use efficiently: one hour on, four hours off, maintaining chill with minimal energy draw. Engineered for real life, The Chill Daddy runs on standard 115V wall outlets or 12V cigarette lighter plugs, making it ideal for road trips, tailgates, or weekend camping. With receiver hitch attachments, it can mount right to the back of a truck or RV. And with the French cleat mounting system, you can move it between the garage, grill station, mancave, or even the game room, all in seconds. 'We wanted people to have the freedom to take the party wherever they go,' Henderson said. 'The fact that it's portable and tough as nails, but also a beautiful showpiece; that's what makes it special.' The centerpiece of The Chill Daddy is its interchangeable UV-printed aluminum faceplate. Buyers can upload any image, from American flags and sports teams to family photos, beloved pets, or even inside jokes, and Metal Art of Wisconsin will print it directly onto the front panel. Flags remain the most popular, but the sky's the limit. As Henderson said, 'It's about reflecting personality, honoring someone you love, or just making a bold statement.' Many customers have already chosen deeply personal designs, such as tributes to late family members, favorite vacations, or a beloved dog. Each one transforms The Chill Daddy into a centerpiece of celebration and conversation. Metal Art of Wisconsin has built its reputation on American craftsmanship and bold design. What began in 2013 as a father-son passion project has since become a household name for patriotic decor and personalized steelwork. Staying true to its roots, every Chill Daddy is manufactured, brazed, charged, and assembled in-house in Wisconsin. 'Our brand was built on American-made products,' said Henderson. 'We've unintentionally become the face of that story of starting a business in your garage and keeping it honest.' With the tooling perfected and production in full swing, the company is now shipping nationwide and preparing for the next round of orders. Mark Rothko's former NYC home re-lists for $9.5M

Only in New York could a single Gilded Age carriage house have ties to both the abstract painter Mark Rothko and the music legend Elvis Presley. Now, the duplex where the late Rothko created his art at 155 E. 69th St. is back on the market for $9.5 million. That's the same price the property asked last year with a different brokerage, as Gimme Shelter exclusively reported. But the listing comes with a catch. 9 The famed artist Mark Rothko, who died in 1970 at age 66. Getty Images 9 The home is replete with elegant touches, such as a fireplace in this plush living area. Zoe Wetherall One family owns and raised their family in a five-bedroom duplex that's now back on the market. A Japanese company owns the second half and operates a non-profit tea society foundation there, and has no plans to sell at the moment, said listing brokers Jeremy Stein and Jennifer Henson, of Sotheby's International Realty. The Urasenke Tea Ceremony Society, according to its web material, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and understanding the 'Way of Tea' through lectures, demonstrations and classes. Both the society and the duplex owners agreed when they bought the property that they would sell the building 50 years later if both parties didn't want to hold on to it. That's 12 years from now, Stein said. 'At the moment, the Japanese company doesn't want to sell but they will have to in 12 years and the [$9.5 million] property will be worth a lot more at that time,' Stein said. He added that if someone bought the duplex now and lived in it, they'd make a large profit when they would sell the building, which is estimated at the moment to be worth around $24 million. At one point in the 1950s, the property was divided into music studios — and that's how Presley fits in. It's where he re-recorded the end of the soundtrack for his first film, 'Love Me Tender.' 9 Untitled, Mark Rothko, 1955, National Gallery of Art, Washington DC. Zoe Wetherall 'There are scenes of him [in 1956] signing autographs outside the house, and getting mobbed as he leaves in a car out of the garage,' Stein said. The home was built for a wealthy financier, James Stillman. The carriage house's next chapter was recording studios and, after that, Rothko's studio. Rothko often worked in the space and sometimes would cover the skylight with a parachute to create different types of light when he worked. The property is where Rothko created art for the famed, and non-denominational, Rothko Chapel in Houston. 9 There are five delightful bedrooms inside. Zoe Wetherall 9 The landscaped roof deck comes with views of the neighborhood. Zoe Wetherall This building is part of a 'stable row,' one of the side streets between Lexington and Third avenues where wealthy Manhattanites kept their horses and carriages during the Gilded Age. Built in 1884, the double-wide red brick structure was designed by architect William Schickel. It features arched windows, a large arched door, a one-car garage, a coveted curb cut and the enclosed garden. The private residence, which can also be accessed through the garage, opens to a large living area with a working woodburning fireplace and a glass-enclosed terrace. There's also a formal dining room, with access to the terrace, and an eat-in chef's kitchen. There are three bedrooms on this level — one with a working fireplace — as well as three baths and a laundry room. The upper level boasts an atrium at the top of the stairs with skylights. There's also a main bedroom suite lined with windows that look out to the landscaped roof terrace, plus another working fireplace. There's also a home office on this floor, along with a tea room, storage and access to the terrace. Along with the stairs, there's an elevator that goes from the top floor to the garage. In addition, a mezzanine level comes with additional storage and a wine cellar.

Prince George's 12th Birthday Video Reveals Rare Glimpse of His Bond with Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis

Kate Middleton and Prince William shared an adorable video on Instagram to celebrate George's special day Prince George is a proud big brother! On Tuesday, July 22, Kate Middleton and Prince William, both 43, shared a sweet video montage taken during a photo shoot showing George with his younger siblings Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, to celebrate his 12th birthday. In the clips, which appear to have been taken during Prince Louis' 7th birthday shoot done by photographer Josh Shinner, George and Charlotte lift up Louis in one adorable moment, as the trio giggle, hold hands and pose on a gate in other cute shots. "12 today! 🎉" the caption on the post, which was shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales' Instagram account, read. The video came after Princess Kate and Prince William's account posted a new portrait to celebrate their eldest son's birthday, continuing their royal tradition that started when George was a baby. In the photo, also taken by photographer Josh Shinner earlier this year in Norfolk, George could be seen resting his arms on a fence as he smiled at the camera. The pre-teen looked strikingly similar to his father in the photo, wearing country-style attire including a white and blue checked shirt with a brown fleece gilet over the top, as he did in the recently-released montage video from the shoot. "Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George! 🎂 📸 @joshshinner," the initial post was captioned. The post came after Princess Kate and Prince William released a similar video to mark Prince Louis' 7th birthday on April 23. The rare footage appeared to be a behind-the-scenes look at his birthday photo shoot, in which photographer Shinner had captured the young royal smiling (and showing off his missing front teeth!) in a snap released for the occasion. The video — captioned "Seven today!", similar to the one shared for George's birthday — showed Louis posing outdoors and having a bit of fun, including running up to the camera and grinning with his face close to the lens. At one point, Louis said in the clip: "I can jump down from there," while pointing before giving the camera a smirk. A few seconds later, he was shown taking a leap from the top of a large log. The Prince and Princess of Wales' Instagram account also posted two adorable images from the same shoot showing the siblings posing in one shot and laughing in another with Prince William to mark Father's Day on June 15. "Happy Father's Day, Papa (before and after!) We love you! G, C & L 💖," the post was captioned. Can't get enough of PEOPLE's Royals coverage? to get the latest updates on Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and more! As in previous years, Prince George — who is second in line to the throne after his father, Prince William — is celebrating his birthday privately with his family. His most recent public outing was just over a week ago, when he joined his parents and sister at Wimbledon. Read the original article on People Solve the daily Crossword
