Mogo Announces $50 Million Bitcoin Treasury Authorization and Strategic Alignment with Bitcoin Across the Organization
Mogo has been at the forefront of digital asset innovation for nearly a decade. In 2018, it launched Canada's first Bitcoin account, and in 2020, it became the third US-listed company to add Bitcoin to its balance sheet, following MicroStrategy and Block, and ahead of Tesla. Mogo also played a key role in the formation of Canada's largest independent crypto platform through the 2023 merger of Coinsquare and WonderFi, which recently announced it has entered into an agreement to be acquired by Robinhood.
'Building on our history and experience in crypto, we're making a long-term strategic commitment to Bitcoin, backed by deep conviction and the flexibility to build a meaningful Bitcoin reserve that aligns with our capital priorities and market outlook,' said Greg Feller, President & Co-Founder of Mogo. 'This allocation gives us the flexibility to build a meaningful position over time as part of a disciplined, multi-year strategy.'
Board-Approved $50 Million Bitcoin Treasury Authorization
Following the anticipated close of the WonderFi–Robinhood transaction in the second half of 2025, Mogo expects to hold approximately $50 million in cash and investments. The Company's Board has approved a Bitcoin allocation of up to $50 million, to be funded by excess cash on the balance sheet and, over time, through additional monetizations from its investment portfolio, including investments in US-based crypto exchange, Gemini, and Canadian technology company, Hootsuite.
The Company has an initial goal to scale to a $50 million investment in Bitcoin based on staged investments over time, while keeping adequate working capital for the operating business.
Bitcoin as a Hurdle Rate for Capital Allocation
In a move that signals deep integration of Bitcoin into its corporate framework, Mogo will now assess all capital deployment decisions against a Bitcoin hurdle rate. Whether considering M&A, internal investments, or share repurchases, the Company will only allocate capital to opportunities that are expected to outperform the long-term return profile of holding Bitcoin.
'This sets a new bar for capital discipline,' said Greg Feller. 'If we don't believe an initiative can deliver better long-term value than Bitcoin, we won't pursue it. It's that simple.'
This approach reinforces Bitcoin's role not just as a treasury asset, but as a strategic benchmark for evaluating value creation across the organization.
A Dual-Compounding Strategy: Bitcoin Reserve + Operating Scale
Mogo's approach is fundamentally different from most Bitcoin treasury companies. While many lack operating scale or growth potential, Mogo is building a capital-efficient, scalable platform across three core pillars; Wealth, Lending, and Payments, with Bitcoin serving as a complementary strategic reserve asset that can compound alongside its core business.
'We're not just holding Bitcoin, we're building a business we believe can scale to over a billion dollars in enterprise value,' said Greg Feller. 'Our goal is to grow a similarly scaled Bitcoin reserve alongside it. That dual-compounding model, operating growth plus a high-conviction Bitcoin reserve, is something few companies are positioned to achieve.'
Strategic Integration Across the Platform
Bitcoin will be integrated across Mogo's core businesses to deliver value to both shareholders and the Company's nearly 2 million Canadian members:
Wealth Management: Mogo's $400M+ AUM platform will launch a flagship Bitcoin Portfolio based on a 60/40 equity/Bitcoin model designed for long-term investors who understand Bitcoin's role as a disruptive store of value.
Lending: Mogo is developing Bitcoin-related loan products that will allow all members to gain access to this asset class, while also potentially lowering their borrowing rates.
Payments: With over $12 billion in annual international payments volume, Mogo is exploring stablecoin infrastructure to enable faster, lower-cost cross-border transactions.
Buffett Mode Meets Bitcoin: A Behavioral Framework
Mogo's approach is grounded in its Buffett-mode philosophy, a behavioral-first investment framework focused on long-term outcomes, mental clarity, and disciplined decision-making.
'Whether you're investing in equities or Bitcoin, the edge is mental,' said David Feller, Founder & CEO of Mogo. 'We're not here to speculate, we're here to help Canadians build real wealth. That means evaluating every decision with clarity and conviction, and giving our members access to tools that align with where the world is going, not where it's been.'
Mogo offers educational content, product-level optionality, and behavioral guidance, not hype. Bitcoin is not promoted as a default solution but offered as a strategic asset for informed, intentional investors.
Democratizing Access to Bitcoin for 2 Million Canadians
Mogo is uniquely positioned to expand responsible access to Bitcoin through trusted, compliant, and intelligent financial products. The Company's platform reflects a long-term belief in digital assets as a tool for wealth preservation, not short-term speculation.
'This is about building financial independence for our members, not chasing returns,' added Greg Feller. 'We believe Bitcoin will play a growing role in how capital is stored, allocated, and judged, and we're building Mogo to lead in that future.'

Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP Need Not Worry About Summer Blues As Long As This Critical Support Holds, Trader Says
Benzinga and Yahoo Finance LLC may earn commission or revenue on some items through the links below. Prominent crypto analyst DonAlt remains bullish not only on Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), but also on Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH) and XRP (CRYPTO: XRP), downplaying concerns that summer seasonality will affect market performance. What Happened: In a July 2 podcast, the trader highlighted Bitcoin's tight consolidation near key resistance as a potential setup for its next major move. Dismissing geopolitical noise and seasonality concerns, he pointed to $95,000 as the critical monthly support. "As long as we hold $95,000 on the monthly, I'm not worried," he said. Trending: GoSun's Breakthrough Rooftop EV Charger Already Has 2,000+ Units Reserved — DonAlt noted that BTC has shown remarkable strength, grinding through multiple ranges without any deep retests. But he warned the market is now at an inflection point. "If Bitcoin can't break out soon and drops to $90,000, I think the cycle is basically over," DonAlt said. In that case, he predicts a shallow bear market, with BTC drifting between $60,000–$70,000 before the next macro leg begins. Why It Matters: While some traders argue summer seasonality dulls crypto momentum, DonAlt isn't buying it. "I don't care about seasonality," he said. Instead, he focuses on structural patterns, and currently sees a strong setup. "This resistance has been tested three times already. Eventually, it breaks." He also mentioned that Bitcoin remains in a "Ponzi pump setup" backed by institutional players and ETF Next: Beyond Bitcoin, DonAlt is also positioned in Ethereum and XRP. He described ETH's monthly chart as "really nice," holding above $2,200 support, and maintains XRP as his preferred altcoin despite its slower performance. Looking ahead, if BTC breaks higher, he sees this as "the last leg" of the current cycle — potentially propelling prices to $200,000–$250,000 before a brutal 80% drawdown resets the market. "It'll be a blow-off top followed by pain," he cautioned. Read Next: $100k+ in investable assets? Here's why Nvidia stock could still be cheap
Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) stock has skyrocketed, propelling the company to a $3.9trn market cap and making it the most valuable semiconductor business in history. With a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 37 and a price-to-sales (P/S) multiple above 19, many investors might assume the stock is simply too expensive. However, a deeper dive into the numbers and Nvidia's unique strategic position suggests the shares could still be cheap relative to its growth prospects and the scale of the opportunity ahead. The key to understanding Nvidia's valuation lies in its P/E-to-growth (PEG) ratio, which compares price to earnings growth. On a forward basis, Nvidia's PEG stands at just 1.29. That's significantly lower than the sector median of 1.90 and below its own five-year average. This is remarkable given the company's size and maturity. Traditional hardware companies in the information technology sector often trade at lower multiples, but Nvidia is not just a chipmaker. Its CUDA software platform, AI developer tools, and ecosystem partnerships have created a powerful moat that delivers recurring software revenues and high switching costs. Nvidia's role in the AI revolution is central and expanding. The company's GPUs and networking solutions are the backbone of generative AI. It powers everything from large language models like ChatGPT to cutting-edge image and video synthesis. However, Nvidia's ambitions go further. CEO Jensen Huang has repeatedly emphasised the company's vision for 'agentic AI' — systems that can reason, plan, and act autonomously — and 'physical AI,' where intelligent machines interact with the real world. Nvidia's platforms are already being used to train and deploy autonomous robots, vehicles, and industrial systems, positioning it as a foundational player in the next wave of AI-driven innovation. The scale of Nvidia's growth continues to surpass the sector average. Consensus forecasts suggest earnings per share will jump 43% in fiscal 2026 and another 34% in 2027. This growth is reflected in the company's cash generation and fortress balance sheet. It has over $53bn in cash and minimal net debt. Of course, risks exist. The AI hardware market is intensely competitive, with rivals like AMD and custom silicon from cloud giants seeking to erode Nvidia's dominance. Regulatory scrutiny, especially around export controls and antitrust, could also impact growth. Yet, Nvidia's unique blend of hardware leadership, software ecosystem, and exposure to generative, agentic, and physical AI gives it an economic moat that few can match. What's more, the valuation really isn't too demanding. And there's certainly reason to think the stock could track higher based on relative valuations in the sector — namely the PEG ratio. Personally, I topped up on my Nvidia shares in the last quarter. Even at the current price, I'm tempted to buy more. However, Nvidia is already among my largest holdings so I'll have to think hard about this. It's certainly worthy of further consideration.
