House of Faygo pop-up in Detroit: We tried 2 new flavors
The three-day immersive pop-up experience is open through Sunday, at 1001 Woodward Ave. (near Campus Martius) offers visitors an opportunity to taste the Super Pop and Bubble Pop! flavors and buy merchandise. There are also photo opportunities, a tasting bar, art and culture collaborations, and a live DJ set with Sheefy McFly.
But it's mostly about tasting the new flavors. And we did.
The Bubble Pop! was a favorite. It's pink like a typical bubble gum, has the initial scent and overall taste of bubble gum. We liked that it was also not overly sweet.
Super Pop, after the flavor notes of Superman ice cream did bring back memories of the citrusy ice cream. Its fruity with a sherbet-like flavor and a hint of almond.
Dawn Burch, Faygo's director of marketing, told the Free Press that this was the company's biggest launch and the first time for launching two at a time.
'Doing two at a time … why not kick it off with a bang and do a pop up' Burch said."
The two flavors bring Faygo's lineup to 54 with Red Pop still the flagship flavor.
'House of Faygo' is Faygo's new campaign for the summer.
'Every pop has its place, and every cap has its crown,' she said.
Built on the concept of 'Pop Royalty' Burch said it's also built on being very Detroit.
In late 1907, Faygo started out as the Feigenson Brothers Bottling Works in Detroit. It was years later the company shortened the name to Faygo. The Faygo bottling plant and headquarters are still on Gratiot Avenue in Detroit. Since 1987, Faygo has been part of the National Beverage Corp., which has brands that include LaCroix and Everfresh Juice.

‘Superman' Star Nicholas Hoult Wants Lex Luthor to Team up With the Joker
While Nicholas Hoult is set to portray one of the most well-known villains in Superman movies, comics and everything in between, he's not getting too far ahead of himself. However, Hoult, like many fans, knows that the highly anticipated Superman film has the potential for several sequels if all goes to plan. And if that plays out, the man set to take on the tall task of playing Lex Luthor in the James Gunn-directed film already has a future villain team-up in mind. During a conversation with Hoult revealed that he read a comic featuring Luthor and The Joker joining forces, and he sounds fully onboard with that duo coming together on the big screen. Hoult stated that if the Superman cast is fortunate enough to continue making movies, the Lex Luthor-Joker duo is one storyline he'd enjoy taking part in. "One of the comics I read there was a linkup between Lex and Joker, the combination of those two together was really fun to read," Hoult said. "...So perhaps if we are lucky and get to keep making movies, that's something I would like to see." It's hard to argue with that answer from Hoult, as the potential for the two villains to team up in a future Superman movie would make for must-see television. As detailed, Luthor and the Joker teamed up in a three-part 1997 episode of Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series. The Joker proposes a deal to Luthor, offering to take down Superman for a substantial price. Ultimately, Superman and Batman team up and stop the dynamic duo of villains. Whether the idea is a realistic possibility is unknown, but one thing that seems apparent is that James Gunn is open to a broad range of storylines. Superman's David Corenswet Had A Very Strong Opinion On His Costume Having Trunks, And I Completely Agree With Him
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. When designing a costume for the Man of Steel, some things are hard and fast requirements. He has to have a cape, despite what Edna Mode would tell him. (No capes!) And he has to have that giant 'S' on his chest. These elements define Superman. What you might not have realized, however, is how much discussion goes into the inclusion of trunks, or shorts, on the Superman suit design. Different directors over the years have stamped their own take on the hero, most notably with Zack Snyder going 'No Trunks' for his approach with Henry Cavill – a fan favorite. So when CinemaBlend took the trip to Cleveland, Ohio to visit the set of James Gunn's upcoming DC movie Superman, we made it our minor mission to get to the bottom of the Trunks debate with regards to David Corenswet's Kal-El. As we saw in the first-look photo for Superman, as well as in the Superman teaser trailer, Gunn's Superman sports shorts. While speaking with Corenswet about the conversation, we asked him point blank if he was ever in the No Trunks camp. And he told CInemaBlend, flat out: No. Not even for a minute. There you have it. The definitive answer, directly from the new Superman's mouth. It was later in the day, however, when we got to speak at length with James Gunn that he elaborated on David Corenswet's approach to the costume, and why the actor felt like this Superman needed the red shorts. Some might dismiss it as a creative choice made by Superman costume designer Judianna Makovsky. Not so. As Gunn told us, a LOT of conversation went into the choice, with Corenswet eventually winning his director over from the 'No Trunks' army. Gunn said: One of the things David said is that Superman wants kids to not be afraid of him. He's an alien. He's got these incredible powers. He shoots beams out of his eyes, [he] can blow the truck over. He's this incredibly powerful – could be considered scary – individual, and he wants people to like him. He wants to be a symbol of hope and positivity. So he dresses like a professional wrestler. He dresses in a way that makes people unafraid of him, that shows that. That really clicked in for me. It clicks for me, as well. Is this Superman going to be a little more family friendly? Possibly. As we saw from the early promotional material, Superman (Corenswet) has a pet dog named Krypto, and smiles while he flies. That doesn't mean he isn't fighting massive alien creatures, facing down real threats from Lex Luthor (Nicolas Hoult), and risking himself to save our planet. It just means that this version of the hero will lean closer to hope and optimism than the iteration offered up in Zack Snyder's universe. So, no one will get their neck snapped in this summer's DC blockbuster. That's my best guess, anyway. Be thinking of these little decisions when you watch Superman, which opens on July 11 as part of the 2025 movie schedule. They actually are big decisions, and they tell us more about the characters than you might have realized. Red trunks are red trunks. But to David Corenswet, they are a conscious choice by this alien visitor to make children more comfortable in his presence. And I think that's sweet. Make sure you have your tickets to Superman so you can see it on opening day.

James Gunn Says ‘I'm Irritated by People' Outraged Over ‘The Batman 2' Delay: ‘Get Off Matt Reeves' Nuts… He Doesn't Owe You Something Because You Like His Movie'
James Gunn has made it clear in several interviews in the lead up to next month's 'Superman' that Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson's 'The Batman 2' remains a priority and is still 'important' to DC Studios, despite baseless social media rumors claiming otherwise. Now in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn flat out said he's become 'irritated' by the continued outrage over the long wait for 'The Batman' sequel. 'Listen, we're supposed to get a script in June. I hope that happens. We feel really good about it,' Gunn said. 'People should get off Matt's nuts because it's like, let the guy write the screenplay in the amount of time he needs to write it. That's just the way it is. He doesn't owe you something because you like his movie. I mean, you like his movie because of Matt. So let Matt do things the way he does.' 'I mean, it's just that thing people don't need to be entitled about. It's going to come out when he feels good about the screenplay. And Matt's not going to give me the screenplay until he feels good about the screenplay.' Gunn has also made it clear in several interviews that he will never go into production on a movie at DC Studios until the script is finished. The director went so far as to say that the 'No. 1 reason' the film industry is dying is 'because people are making movies without a finished screenplay.' It's been a long development road for 'The Batman 2,' which Warner Bros. delayed last year from Oct. 2, 2026 to Oct. 1, 2027. The first movie opened in theaters in March 2022 and grossed $772 million at the worldwide box office. Gunn previously defended the delay on social media by writing: 'To be fair, a 5-year gap or more is fairly common in sequels. 7 years between 'Alien' and 'Aliens.' 14 years between 'Incredibles.' 7 years between the first two 'Terminators.' 13 years between 'Avatars.' 36 years between 'Top Guns.' And, of course, 6 years between 'Guardians Vol 2' and 'Vol 3.'' Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gunn said that he is pulling back a bit from using his social media platforms like Threads to debunk countless incorrect rumors about his projects and those he's developing at DC Studios. 'I've kind of quit because it just happens so often,' he explained. 'There are a couple of people, specifically, who have pretty large followings who just consistently put out false stories, just one after the other after the other, 95% of the time. Maybe once out of every 20 times, they say something that has some slight or partial basis in reality. And it gets to be old. I'm not sure, some of those people, that I'm not actually helping them in a certain way by debunking them, because you're giving them traffic, which I always do, but I think they like it.
