Rovers come from behind to defeat Derry City
After a goalless first half, Danny Mullen gave Derry the lead not long after his introduction from the bench on 65 minutes.
Rovers substitute Michael Noonan drew the sides level just four minutes later before former Candystripes midfielder McEneff snatched the winner in the 89th minute.
The 29-year-old, who played over 100 times for Derry City, was booked for his celebrations after the goal.
The visitors are now unbeaten in their last seven games and have increased their lead over third-placed Derry to eight points.
Despite early pressure from both sides, neither keeper had a save to make in the opening 20 minutes with Michael Duffy's acrobatic attempt not testing Ed McGinty and Danny Grant blasting an effort well over the crossbar at the other end.
The home side enjoyed majority of the possession in the opening 45 minutes with Gavin Whyte heavily involved in the action, providing Liam Boyce with a chance to break the deadlock midway through the half.
Rovers felt they should have had a penalty when Aaron Greene's shot struck the arm of Hayden Cann but their protests were waved away by referee Marc Lynch.
As the quiet first half drew to a close, Brian Maher was forced to make a save low down to deny Graham Burke's effort with the forward having a shot from range easily gathered by Maher shortly after.
The second half offered more attacking chances with Boyce and Burke going close for their respective sides but it was the replacements who made the difference.
On the hour, Derry boss Tiernan Lynch threw on Paul McMullan and Danny Mullen, and four minutes later the pair combined to open the scoring with Mullen latching onto McMullan's looping cross to fire past McGinty in the Rovers goal.
The lead did not last for long as 16-year-old Noonan - who came on just before the opening goal - headed home the equaliser.
An ambitious effort for Roberto Lopes from 35 yards was tipped onto the crossbar by Maher in the Derry goal but it fell straight to teenager Noonan.
Stephen Bradley's men upped the tempo and came close to taking the lead when Josh Honahan weaved his way around multiple red and white shirts before sending an effort narrowly wide.
Adam Matthews then made a crucial block to deflect Duffy's strong strike to safety, to the relief of the travelling fans.
However, the goals weren't done though as with just two minutes of normal time left the away side took the lead with McEneff converting Danny Mandroiu's pass from close range to secure the three points for Shamrock Rovers against his former side.

Midfielder Harkin departs Derry City for Sligo
Ciaron Harkin has departed Derry City to join fellow League of Ireland club Sligo Rovers on a permanent deal. The midfielder joins the Bit O'Red until the end of the season with the club retaining the option of extending his contract for the 2026 season. Harkin departs his hometown club after a six-year stint in his second spell at the Brandywell, making 109 appearances but only six this season. The 29-year-old missed both the 2022 and '23 seasons after suffering back-to-back ACL injuries before joining Irish League side Coleraine on loan in July 2024, returning to Derry City in January for the beginning of the League of Ireland season. Sligo currently sit ninth in the League of Ireland Premier Division table, 11 points ahead of basement club Cork City and just three points behind eighth-placed Galway United. Harkin becomes the second former Derry City player to join Sligo in the summer transfer window after defender Patrick McClean joined the club earlier this month.

Blackburn Rovers compensation figures as Tyrhys Dolan decides on next transfer
Blackburn Rovers will receive less than 500K in compensation as Tyrhys Dolan closes in on a move abroad. The 23-year-old has been a free agent for almost one month after his terms at Ewood Park expired on June 30. Dolan has been training in Manchester with individual coaches, posting content on social media. Rovers knew that Dolan would take his time on his next move and the chances of a return to the club were slim. Valerien Ismael told The Lancashire Telegraph earlier this month that Dolan's agent had informed the club he'd be going elsewhere. Despite that, Rovers have a vested interest in his next move. Due to his age, they are entitled to compensation. However, that figure is significantly less if he signs for a club outside of England. READ MORE: The LT reported Dolan had interested clubs in Spain and Portugal, as well as the Championship. He is now set to sign for Espanyol, with a medical taking place in Spain on Friday, according to Sky Sports journalist, Luca Bendoni. They finished 14th in La Liga last season but only two points above Leganes, who went down in 18th on 40 points. Dolan's preference would have always been a Premier League switch but no top-flight club made an offer this summer. Rovers are entitled to 90K x the length of Dolan's contract with Espanyol as training compensation. For example, if he pens a four-year deal, they will be due 360K. Five years, 450K, you get the picture. Had he stayed in England, the figure would have been much higher. It is down to the two clubs to negotiate a fee or it is settled by a tribunal. However, it's understood that Rovers might have landed between £1-1.5m for a Championship or top-flight switch. The club made their first attempts to renew Dolan's deal under Gregg Broughton in early 2024 but it's been clear for a long time that he was reluctant to sign. Rovers made their best offer this summer but the wages requested would have significantly broken the club's wage structure. That would've caused Rovers further problems down the line with other players and wouldn't have represented value for money. The Dolan saga is another example of a situation Rovers can't afford to get themselves in again, though. Ismael himself insisted the club had 'made mistakes' in the past with contract negotiations. Blackburn sources insist strong offers have been made to Callum Brittain, Lewis Travis and Sondre Tronstad, despite contrasting messages depending on who you speak to. At the moment, all three are taking their time to consider their options but are happy at the club. Whilst they do not want to lose assets, Rovers are comfortable with all three players remaining at the club beyond the end of the transfer window, even if they don't sign beforehand. None will be forced out due to their contract situations with all viewed as indispensable by Ismael and the board.
