Mike Myers tries out his Scottish accent as the titular grumpy green ogre, who is blackmailed by evil ruler Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow) to rescue a trapped princess, Cameron Diaz's Fiona, from a dragon. With Eddie Murphy on great form as Shrek's comic relief sidekick Donkey and a wealth of parodic cameos – from Pinocchio to the Three Blind Mice – you'll watch this happily ever after.

Oscar Wilde's scintillating dialogue transfers well from stage to screen in Anthony Asquith's definitive 1952 version of his drawing-room comedy. Michael Redgrave and Michael Denison are the two young men whose romantic designs on Joan Greenwood and Dorothy Tutin's English roses lead them into a pseudonymous tangle. But despite the comic skills of Greenwood and Margaret Rutherford as governess Miss Prism it's Edith Evans's intimidating Lady Bracknell who rules the roost. 'A handbag?' will never sound the same again.

As the first big-screen outing for Anthony Mackie's Captain America, this Marvel instalment would benefit from some knowledge of previous superhero events. The plot also pivots round the Wolverine-tested metal adamantium, which is a source of conspiracy and conflict. But with actors of the calibre of the noble Mackie, plus Giancarlo Esposito and Tim Blake Nelson as the Cap's new foes, and Harrison Ford as dubious new US president Thaddeus Ross, the performances should more than compensate.

She may only have a supporting role, but Gloria Grahame's sparky, witty turn as a gangster's girlfriend is the principal joy of Fritz Lang's propulsive 1953 crime drama. Headline name Glenn Ford is a solid presence as honest cop Dave Bannion, whose investigation into the suicide of a fellow officer leads him to a city mob boss. Bannion's persistent dog-with-a-bone riles the criminal's psychotic right-hand man Vince (Lee Marvin), with the latter's girl Debby (Grahame) among the collateral damage as the detective edges closer to the truth.

The U2 frontman's one-man show, based on his memoir, is now a film courtesy of Andrew Dominik – who has form in the field of rock star confessionals, notably about Nick Cave. It is an intimate, engrossing piece, shot in crisp black-and-white with sparse lighting. Bono is a confident raconteur, as he relays anecdotes from his life – meeting his future wife and starting the band in the same week; Live Aid and his political campaigning; chatting in the pub with his dad – candidly and self-deprecatingly, while excerpts from U2's songs act as commentary on his experiences. Rio Ferdinand has spoken out in support of his wife Kate after she faced online criticism for posting bikini-clad holiday snaps. The former TOWIE star, 34, gave a glimpse of her recent family holiday to Portugal on Instagram on Saturday. The post included a sweet shot of Kate and Rio holding hands by a front door, a mouthwatering spread of food, and adorable beachside fun moments. Among the carousel were two photos of Kate in bikinis - one in olive green, the other black - showing off her stunning figure as she soaked up the sun. Alongside the post she penned: 'July has been full of memories (& food) in our home from home'. But not everyone was impressed. One social media user took aim in the comments, writing: 'Don't think you need to show in a bikini [sic.].' While it's unclear which image drew the criticism, Rio, 46, wasted no time clapping back. Rebecca died aged just 34 after a short battle with breast cancer. The couple wed in Turkey in September 2019 and share two children; Cree, four, and Shae, who turns two later this month. Kate also posted a fun moment of her splashing in the sea with her son Cree and they walked through the waves along the shore Discussing introducing his relationship to his children, Rio told his wife: 'It's hard, you don't really get over it if you do it wrong, if it's done abruptly without conversations and done the wrong way. 'But if people are saying no, the kids are saying no I don't know, man. I'm just lucky, fortunately we didn't get to that point... 'But if my kids have said no, we're probably not here right now. Because we don't get the chance to get to where we are, where we're like madly in love... 'Because as soon as the kids say no - we were in love at that time, but it was still early enough to think where you go, but on both sides, you go, 'The kids ain't accepting me, I can't get into this. It's too much stress.' 'And I'm going, 'The kids ain't happy. They're going to have to be number one.' And I think there's a lot of relationships that would end up because of that... England fans upset as Agyemang omitted from Royal Family photo
July 26 - England's Royal Family is under fire from Lioness fans after a good luck message that included photos of several players was missing young star Michelle Agyemang. The 19-year-old Agyemang, who is Black, saved England at the brink with late goals in both their narrow quarter-final win over Sweden and semi-final victory over Italy. "I think that would never, ever be intentional," England coach Sarina Wiegman said, when asked about the omission in Saturday's pre-game press conference. "I think the message from the Royal Family is that they really, really support us, and we really appreciate that. It's unfortunate that (Agyemang) is not on the picture, but there's all good intentions." The Royal Family posted their congratulations on reaching the Euro final on several social media platforms. "Your journey to this stage has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing the skill, determination (and test of nerve!) for which your team is so rightly celebrated," the message said. "Knowing the Lionesses' fighting spirit, I suspect we are in for another thrilling encounter on Sunday. "Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible. Good luck, England. May you roar to victory once more." The Royal Family did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the post. It includes a photo of England's starting 11 for a game earlier in the tournament and includes Jess Carter, who announced earlier in the tournament that she was coming off of social media after receiving racist abuse. The post also includes several other players in action. The post was met with an outcry from many fans on social media. "Black women aren't invisible. Let's stop erasing them," Miriam Walker-Khan, the founder of Brown Girl Sport, wrote on X.
