Michael Rider unveils a debut bourgeois and rock collection at Celine

Fashion United2 days ago
Paris - A new chapter opens at Celine. American designer Michael Rider, successor to Hedi Slimane, unveiled his first collection on Sunday in Paris. The spring wardrobe had chic, bourgeois accents tinged with a rock touch.
'Returning to Celine in a changed world has been a deeply moving experience for me. It has also been an immense joy,' said the designer, a former collaborator of ex-creative director Phoebe Philo (2008-2018), in a statement. The French fashion house, according to Rider, embodies 'quality, timelessness and style'. These are 'ideals difficult to grasp' that he wanted to translate into this collection.
Large wool coats split at the back; very slim or carrot trousers for men and women; diamond-patterned jumpers; fitted blazers; and leather jackets make up this mixed-gender spring 2026 wardrobe. Elegant evening dresses and short fur jackets complete the collection.
As for accessories, the ties are striped in the style of Oxford students. Wide trousers are worn tucked into soft leather boots. There are also many flat shoes in a Zizi Richelieu style.
Belts are wide. Bags are imposing. Silk scarves are omnipresent. Jewellery is flashy and plentiful. The entire collection comes in a neutral palette of khaki, sand, white and black, interspersed with touches of bright colours, including green, red and very deep blues.
After Slimane's filmed shows, Rider brought Celine back to the catwalk. The show took place at the brand's headquarters in central Paris. Part of the show was outdoors, despite the pouring rain, on the eve of the start of Haute Couture Week.
Anna Wintour, who, despite the announcement of her recent departure from the editorial leadership of American Vogue, confirms her nickname of 'Pope of Fashion', was in the front row. She sat alongside Jonathan Anderson, the new creative director of Dior, another LVMH brand.
Rider was design director under Philo at Celine. He has also worked at Balenciaga and Polo Ralph Lauren. He took over from Slimane immediately after his departure in October 2024.
Slimane was creative director of Dior Homme from 2000 to 2007, then of Saint Laurent from 2012 to 2016. The French designer was appointed in 2018, replacing Philo. He shook up the bourgeois look forged by the Briton by injecting a rock vibe. This article was translated to English using an AI tool.

Johnny Depp offered ‘trust and love' as a director says lead actor of Modigliani

The film, Modigliani – Three Days On The Wing Of Madness, is described as a '72-hour whirlwind' in the life of the bohemian artist, who is played by Italian actor and film producer Riccardo Scamarcio. Speaking on the red carpet of the movie's UK premiere, Scamarcio told the PA news agency: 'It (shooting the film) was incredible because Johnny is … I felt a lot of trust from him and love. 'And this is all you need if you have to play a character of this kind. 'But anyway, if you have to be an actor in a film, from your director you need trust and love, and I felt that very much.' Modigliani was an Italian painter and sculptor during the late half of the 19th century and early 20th century who was known for creating portraits and nudes in a modern style that were seen as controversial for the time period. Scamarcio told PA: 'He was an incredible character. He was an incredible painter, and, (he had) some anarchy, I have to say, and a lot of talent. 'But, you know, he's been recognised too late. What a shame.' The film also stars Adolescence actor Stephen Graham as art dealer Leopold Zborowski, and veteran actor Al Pacino as American collector Maurice Gangnat. Among the stars who attended the UK premiere was Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and his wife Sally, Sons Of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam, and a number of actors from the movie. Last year, Scamarcio presented Depp with a lifetime achievement award at the Rome Film Festival in recognition of his 'extraordinary journey as a performer'. Depp has made a steady return to the spotlight in recent years following the conclusion of a high-profile defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard. The 62-year-old has starred in a host of films over the years but gained worldwide stardom for his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise. Modigliani – Three Days On The Wing of Madness is in cinemas from July 11.

Kate Middleton seen in tiara for the first time in nearly 2 years

The sparkle is back at Windsor Castle. During an official appearance in Windsor, England, Catherine, Princess of Wales, wore a tiara for the first time since 2023. The 43-year-old was photographed on July 8 arriving at a state banquet at Windsor Castle with her husband, Prince William, by her side. For her appearance, the royal wore the classic Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara, one of her more frequently worn tiaras, along with a dark red Givenchy by Sarah Burton gown (Burton was also the designer behind the princess' iconic wedding dress). The renowned piece of jewelry is identifiable by its multiple drop-shaped pearls. The banquet was held in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron, first lady of France, who marked France's first state visit to the U.K. since Brexit. During his visit, President Macron is also expected to address parliament and visit Imperial College London. The banquet, hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, is Kate's first tiara moment since sharing her cancer diagnosis in March 2024. Before her latest appearance, Kate wore a tiara at Buckingham Palace in December 2023, according to For the occasion, she wore the Lover's Knot. That same month marked her last public appearance before being diagnosed with cancer. Significance of the Lover's Knot Tiara Though closely associated with Kate, who has made the Lover's Knot Tiara one of the most recognizable pieces of jewelry to be worn by the British royal family, the tiara goes further back in history. According to previous reporting, the diadem was commissioned by Queen Mary around 1914 and was frequently worn by Princess Diana. The tiara was gifted to Diana for her 1981 wedding to Prince Charles by the late Queen Elizabeth II. Diana is said to have often complained about the weight of the tiara, attributing headaches to the weight of the piece.

Chicago's legendary Mr. Beef is popping up in L.A. for one weekend only

If you've been spending the last few weeks simultaneously thirsting over Jeremy Allen White (yes, chef!) and salivating over the on-screen food while watching The Bear season 4, this is the culinary pop-up for you: On Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20, Chicago's own Mr. Beef —purveyors of the iconic Italian beef sandwiches that served as the inspo for the Berzatto family's Original Beef of Chicagoland" from the FX show—will be popping up in Los Angeles for a one-weekend-only takeover. Courtesy of cookware brand HexClad, the Windy City restaurant will be coming to cult-favorite L.A. sandwich shop Uncle Paulie's Deli (8053 W 3rd Street) to give Angelenos a taste of classic Chicago, with Mr. Beef's classic Italian beef sandwich (dipped in homemade au jus, loaded with tangy giardiniera and served on French bread) available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. But note, those sandwiches are on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early to get ahead of the anticipated sell-out. Ensuring the authenticity of the world-famous sammie, Mr. Beef owner Chris Zucchero will be on site, as will Courtney Storer, a Chicago native and the culinary director for The Bear. Storer will also be serving her Coco's to Go-Go Homemade Italian Ice. Attendees will also be treated to a complimentary pickle cart sponsored by HexClad, and will be able to grab limited-edition merch of the Mr. Beef pop-up. Long before The Bear fans were crushing over fictional chef Carmy Berzatto, the very real Mr. Beef was serving up Italian beef sandwiches in Chicago's River North area, since all the way back in 1979. This is the second year in a row that the no-frills Chicago restaurant has brought its Windy City wonders to the West Coast, with a Mr. Beef pop-up having come to Uncle Paulie's last summer as well.
