Michael Schumacher tribute unveiled by son Mick and Sebastian Vettel: ‘Keep fighting'
Mick Schumacher, the German great's son, and former F1 driver Sebastian Vettel were among those in attendance as a banner was unveiled at the Accor Stadium.
Schumacher suffered a traumatic brain injury in a skiing accident in 2013 and has not since been seen in public, with few updates provided by his family about his health as he rehabilitates privately.
The banner promoted the Keep Fighting Foundation established four years after the incident that continues charitable work in the 56-year-old's name.
All 20 competing drivers in Sydney were involved in displaying the supportive message.
France's Sebastien Loeb, a nine-time world champion in rallying, won the event by defeating home hopeful Chaz Mostert in the final.
Vettel and Mick Schumacher, providing German representation, each exited at the quarter-final stage.
The event came ahead of the start of the Formula 1 season in Melbourne this weekend. Race day at the Australian Grand Prix is Sunday 16 March as Max Verstappen bids for a fifth successive Drivers' Championship.
Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, will again chase a record eighth world title after his move to Ferrari having tied Schumacher's tally in 2020.

Barcelona draw up desperate transfer plan to solve major Marcus Rashford issue
Marcus Rashford has completed a season-long loan move to Barcelona but the Manchester United star is in the middle of a sticky situation involving the Catalan club Barcelona face a race against time to sell players to make room for Marcus Rashford in their squad, it has been claimed. The Catalan club face a familiar problem as they aim to register the England international, who completed a loan move from Manchester United in July. Last summer, Hansi Flick's side found themselves in a similar situation with Dani Olmo. The issue concerns La Liga's wage cap, wit clubs required to trim their bill - ideally by offloading senior players - if they want to add any new arrivals to their squad. They were eventually able to register Olmo in time for the start of the 2024-25 season, before being forced to jump through hoops for a second time in January. This time around, Rashford isn't the only one facing the same situation. Barca completed a loan move for Rashford with an option to buy, and he - along with new keeper Joan Garcia - need to be accommodated. According to Sport (via Football Espana), the club will also need to re-register Wojciech Szczesny after the Polish international's contract expired and he signed fresh terms. The club are also looking to register youngsters Gerard Martin and Marc Bernal as first-teamers, as well as new signing Roony Bardghji. Swedish winger Bardghji joined from FC Copenhagen earlier in the summer, but will reportedly only be added to the first-team squad after the other five. Barcelona will get their campaign underway against Mallorca on August 16. They have previously expressed confidence over doing what they need to do to ensure Rashford can play a part, but they're not there yet. A number of players have already left this summer, including Pablo Torre - who could feature against them for Mallorca on the opening day. Clement Lenglet and Pau Victor are among the others to leave permanently, while Ansu Fati's loan to Monaco will see the Ligue 1 club cover a portion of the player's wages. The future of Marc Andre ter Stegen could remain a key factor when it comes to Barca registering new players. The German goalkeeper missed most of last season through injury, and Barca had looked to register Garcia as an injury replacement - thereby not having to find extra wage budget for him. Those short-term replacements account for players expected to miss four months or more, and Ter Stegen has publicly denied this to be the case. According to reports in Spain, the club have begun disciplinary proceedings against the former Borussia Monchengladbach stopper, who is still Barca's captain - though some board members are said to have questioned whether he should retain the armband. The injury clause allowed Barca to register Olmo last season. Danish defender Christensen missed the first half of the campaign with an achilles issue, but Olmo needed to be re-registered upon the centre-back's January return. He faces serious competition at Anfield following the arrival of Florian Wirtz while Jeremie Frimpong can fill in for Mo Salah on the right side. Leipzig will try to convince Elliott that they are the best place for his next move before continuing more detailed discussions with Liverpool. The Bundesliga club are set to sell Simons to Chelsea for more than £60m. They're also set to bring in more than £70m for Benjamin Sesko with Manchester United and Newcastle tussling out for the striker's signature. Back in June, Elliott was urged to 'get out and play' by Jermain Defoe after helping England U21s retain their European Championship crown. Speaking on Channel 4 after Elliott's match-winning double against the Netherlands in the semi-final, Defoe said: 'There'll be a lot of clubs watching this tournament. 'We said it before, he's too good to not be playing. When you're producing in big tournaments like this against the best players, the two goals that we saw this evening, he's a top, top player. 'For him, he just needs to go out and play, get himself in a team where he's one of the main players, and just go out and express yourself and show how good you are because this performance tonight, it's amazing.' Joe Cole, also analysing the game for Channel 4, was in full agreement with his former England colleague. He said: 'I love the lad. 'I think he plays football the right way and I'm really excited for him. Not just for this final, but I'm excited for his future as well, for next year. 'He's done a great job for Liverpool, and if he decides to move on, I still feel there's levels. For a player to come to a tournament and do what he's done, there's levels for him to go up again, and I'd love to see him playing with that kind of passion and happiness on his face every week.'
