Carnival Cruise Line makes clear call on Costco, dining change
Carnival Cruise Line has an impressive array of free food options including some restaurants from big-name celebrities.
You can get chicken from Shaq's Big Chicken on many ships. And, while the basketball great does not have a major reputation in the culinary world, his fried chicken chain has been positively reviewed.

Guy Fieri, on the other hand, is one of the most famous chefs in the world. His. Guy's Burgers are literally on every carnival cruise ship.
The "Mayor of Flavortown" actually has a pretty spotty record when it comes to land based restaurants, but cruisers seem to love his onboard burgers.
But no matter how many free offerings a cruise line has, some people always want more. Most carnival ships also offer free Mexican as well as free pizza until midnight.
After midnight, the cruise line offers a sort of buffet that changes nightly. Passengers have been very mixed on the quality of that buffet and many do not appreciate the sheet pizza that's offered instead of the traditional handmade pizza. The cruise line used to serve until 2 a.m.
Now, the Cruz light has been asked about adding another culinary delight from a brand that that's already a partner.

Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald gets a lot of crazy requests. In many cases, people like to make really broad statements that may or may not be true.
"Every American eats biscuits and gravy for breakfast every morning" has been a popular sentiment shared with him often. In many cases, people like to be more dismissive.
"You may not know this because you're British, but all Americans brush their teeth with Tabasco sauce and it should be provided in every room."
Requests like that usually get shouted down by Heald's audience, but sometimes he responds when he gets a more rational question (even if it's overstated).
"John was thinking of the Street Eats you have on the Jubilee. What's missing is Costco Rotisserie chicken. Have you tried this John? It is the most popular chicken in America, The entirety of the meat is moist-both the light and the dark. I know this would be an awesome collab to have for Carnival. It would bring new cruisers to Carnival," wrote an unnamed poster on Heald's Facebook page.
The "most popular chicken in America" line can be heavily debated, but Costco does sell a lot of chicken. Heald was blunt in his answer.
"I am sure that this chicken is excellent but is it really going to bring in new cruisers? Who needs rollercoasters, water parks, brilliant friendly crew if you have a rotating chicken," he wrote before making a joke. "By the way, I bought a chicken earlier to make some sandwiches.. biggest waste of time! Just runs round the kitchen clucking and crapping on the floor."

Most of the over 200 comments on Heald's page seem to be supportive of the idea that Costco chicken may be great, but it's not needed on a Carnival cruise.
"Yes nothing will bring customers to a cruise line like offering Costco chicken," wrote Mandy Forbes.
Leslie Lasage Babineaux agreed with that sentiment.
"OMG YES. Costco chicken is exactly what is missing from Carnival Cruise Line. Genius marketing strategy! (Slaps forehead)," she posted.
LK Gardiner was even more dismissive.
"Good Morning John. Please don't bother with the Costco, Walmart. Sam's Club or any other grocery chain rotisserie chicken. I can get them every day of the week," they shared.
Paul Kitchens-Fredeen had more fun with the idea.
"And while you're at it, add one of those rollers that the gas station has to let us grab taquitos," he added.

These two Florida cities rank among the worst for a staycation
Miami has enviable weather, spectacular beaches and vibrant nightlife, yet it ranks, along with Hialeah, among the worst cities in the U.S. for local tourism, according to a report by personal finance website WalletHub. With rising inflation and the need to cut back on spending this summer, 82% of Americans are considering staycationing and taking advantage of what their cities have to offer. For Miami and Hialeah residents, you might be better off taking a trip. Miami ranked 49th and Hialeah ranked 178th among the 182 cities analyzed, using 41 metrics ranging from affordability to the variety of activities available. WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo told el Nuevo Herald that Miami, despite having a wide variety of restaurants, nightlife options, festivals, and access to water activities, is hampered by its high costs. It ranks 159th in restaurant meal prices and 169th in massage costs. It also has the lowest park area per capita among the cities analyzed, he explained. Hialeah, the study shows, suffers from a lack of entertainment. It ranks among the last in nightlife, festivals, museums, and culinary diversity. Although it has some sports facilities like golf courses and tennis/basketball courts, its limited availability of leisure activities places it at the bottom of the overall ranking, Lupo reported. The contrast with other cities is striking: New York City leads the way in park availability by population density; Honolulu leads in tennis courts and Orlando leads in ice cream parlors. In Florida, the highest-ranked cities for staycations are Orlando, in second place, and Tampa, in seventh place. Orlando ranks high for staycationing thanks to its wide variety of activities. With a large number of amusement parks, water parks, nightlife, festivals, zoos, and arcades per capita, it's easy to fill a week with different fun activities every day. Orlando is also a great place to eat out, with a wide variety of affordable restaurants and plenty of ice cream shops to enjoy during the hot summer. Tampa scored 34 for recreational activities, 13 for food, and 20 for relaxation activities. Cincinnati topped the list as the best city for a staycation, according to the WalletHub report. The city has plenty of parks, pools, and baseball fields to keep people entertained and active plust affordable restaurants, beer gardens and ice cream shops.

Coco Gauff says criticism of Aryna Sabalenka's French Open comments went ‘too far'
LONDON (AP) — It didn't take long for Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka to patch up their relationship after this month's French Open final. Now as Wimbledon is about to start, Gauff is hoping everyone else can also forget what the top-ranked Sabalenka said in the wake of her loss to the American at Roland-Garros. A day after dancing together on Wimbledon's Centre Court in a TikTok video, the two tennis players faced more questions on Saturday about the aftermath of Sabalenka's comments right after the final, when she said her loss had more to do with her own mistakes than Gauff's performance. The Belarusian later wrote to apologize to Gauff and said her comments were 'unprofessional,' but not before she faced some major backlash from fans and pundits — especially in the United States. Gauff is trying to make sure the criticism stops. 'I'm not the person that will fuel hate in the world,' said Gauff, who opens her Wimbledon campaign against Dayana Yastremska on Tuesday. 'I think people were taking it too far. … It was just really targeting and saying a lot of things that I felt were not nice. I didn't want to fuel that more.' Sabalenka, who faces Carson Branstine on No. 1 Court on Monday, said she hopes the TikTok video shows that all is well between the two. 'We are good, we are friends,' the three-time major winner said. 'I hope the U.S. media can be easy on me right now.' Sabalenka reiterated that she never meant to offend Gauff. 'I was just completely upset with myself, and emotions got over me,' she said. 'I just completely lost it.' Gauff did acknowledge that she was initially tempted to hit back publicly at Sabalenka, who said the American 'won the match not because she played incredible; just because I made all of those mistakes from ... easy balls.' But after Sabalenka reached out to apologize, she was quick to bury any grudge. 'I preach love, I preach light,' Gauff said. 'I just want us to be Kumbaya, live happily, hakuna matata, and be happy here.'
