Realme shows off prototype phone with 10,000mAh battery and 320W charging

GSM Arena07-05-2025
Right at the start of 2023, Realme unveiled its 240W charging system, which made its debut on the Realme GT Neo 5. Since then, Realme has been the only phone maker to offer 240W – and now the company is ready to beat its own record.
In the build-up to the Realme GT 7 global launch, the company shared details on a prototype phone with a massive 10,000mAh and equally impressive 320W charging.
The most impressive thing about this prototype is that it measures only 8.5mm thick and weighs 215g. Realme used a battery with 10% silicon anode and achieved an energy density of 887Wh/L. To maximize the internal volume that is available for the battery, the company shrunk the phone's motherboard to just 23.4mm tall – that's the smallest on an Android phone yet!
Chace Xu, the President of Realme Global Marketing, posted a 2-minute unboxing video that shows off the prototype device and gives details on how it was created. Here are some screen grabs from that video:

And here is the video itself:

Again, this is just a prototype – the Realme GT 7 phones will have smaller (but still pretty huge) batteries and slower charging. However, it didn't take long for the company to go from prototype to consumer product when it showed off its 240W charge system a couple of years ago.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra and Galaxy A07 bag a new round of certifications

Samsung has already confirmed that it's launching the Galaxy Tab S11 series before the end of the year, and rumors have been swirling recently about both the S11 and S11 Ultra - these are expected to be the only members of the family. Now, the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra has been certified by 3C in China, with the model number SM-X930. It will support 45W wired charging as revealed before. Past rumors and leaks talked about the tablet being powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 9400+ SoC, and having an 11,600 mAh battery, which is ever so slightly bigger than its predecessor's. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy A07, meanwhile, has been certified by IMDA in Singapore with the model number SM-A975F/DS. Unfortunately, this certification hasn't outed any details about the handset. It's rumored to sport an HD+ LCD screen, Android 15, 6GB of RAM, and will be powered by MediaTek's Helio G99 SoC. Via

World's largest foundry is attacked from within

When you're the top foundry in the world, you are obviously doing something right compared to the competition. Actually, you might look at this situation and ask, "What competition?" After all, TSMC's market share of approximately 67% is well above the share belonging to the second-place contract chip manufacturer, which is Samsung Foundry. The latter has only a 7.7% market share. TSMC has a client list (no, not THAT client list) that includes many of the top names in tech, including Apple, Nvidia, MediaTek, Qualcomm, and AMD. The foundry is about to embark on the next generation of chip production using its 2nm process node, which is the cutting-edge in advanced chip manufacturing. The foundry plans to start mass production at the 2nm node later this year. Inside a fab where chips are manufactured. | Image credit-TSMC Prosecutors were able to nab the six following searches conducted of homes belonging to some TSMC staff between July 25th and July 28th. The investigation now seeks to discover whether the stolen information has been released to other parties. Investigators in Taiwan searched the Taiwanese offices belonging to Tokyo Electron Ltd., a supplier based in Japan. Today, in a related story, Japan's Nikkei reported that TSMC fired several employees who were working at the foundry while trying to obtain critical and proprietary information about TSMC's 2nm chip development. TSMC told the Nikkei that recently it "detected unauthorized activities during routine monitoring, leading to the discovery of potential trade secret leaks." The foundry also stated that it took "strict disciplinary actions against the personnel involved and has initiated legal proceedings." TSMC says that it was on to the plot early thanks to an internal investigation it conducted. The information purloined from TSMC is important because Chinese foundry SMIC, the largest in the country, is limited to producing chips using a 7nm node. But this is mostly due to restrictions placed on the sale of advanced lithography equipment that keeps this gear out of the hands of Chinese companies. Media reports are calling the crime committed by the insiders an attack on national security. The Intellectual Property Branch of the High Prosecutors Office of Taiwan is conducting its investigation under the National Security Act of 2022. This Act is designed to prevent sensitive technology, especially tech related to semiconductors, from falling into the hands of foreign adversaries. -TSMC The Taiwan government has created a list of what it calls "National Core Critical Technologies," which includes technology used to produce integrated circuits (ICs) more advanced than 14nm. Obviously, equipment and technology used to produce 2nm ICs would be on this list. Reproducing, disclosing, and using trade secrets related to the list without authorization is a violation of the National Security Act. This is the first case involving semiconductors to be prosecuted under the Act. While TSMC has taken actions to protect its trade secrets, TSMC Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei has said that his foundry's technologies are difficult to duplicate. The company added that it will continue to strengthen its monitoring systems and it will continue to work with the relevant regulatory agencies "to protect our competitive advantage and operational stability." A statement from the prosecutors office released today confirmed that said that TSMC had conducted an internal investigation and that "TSMC discovered that its national core technology trade secrets had been allegedly illicitly obtained by a former employee in collusion with current employees."

Samsung Display introduces MONT FLEX brand for foldable displays

Samsung Display will launch a new foldable display brand at the K-Display 2025, an industry exhibition of new technology that opens doors on August 7 (Thursday). The brand is dubbed 'MONT FLEX'. Here's how Samsung explains it. 'M' stands for mechanical durability, 'O' for opto-mechanically flat, 'N' for narrow bezels and 'T' for thin and lightweight design. In more detail, the M highlights innovations like the shock-resistant structure that allowed the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 displays to survive 500,000 fold cycles. The O highlights the work put into making the crease less visible. Narrow bezels give you more screen area. Finally, the whole industry is striving for thinner and lighter foldables and slimming down the display helps do just that. 'Mont' is also French for 'mountain', which is intentional – Samsung says that it represents the pinnacle of foldable innovation. 'Since beginning mass production of foldable OLEDs in 2019, we have continued to drive technological innovation to perfect the product—becoming the first in the industry to apply UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) and LEAD, a polarizer-free OCF technology, to foldables,' said Jae-Nam Yun, Executive Vice President and Head of Mobile Display Marketing Team at Samsung Display. Hold on, let us grab our tech initialism dictionary. LEAD stands for Low power consumption, Eco-friendliness, Augmented brightness and Designed to be soft and light. OCF or On-Cell Film improves visual performance while also making the display thinner and lighter. 'Following the launch of a foldable panel with a newly developed 'shock-resistant structure' that passed the 500,000-fold durability test, we will continue pushing the boundaries to deliver even more refined foldable products that exceed market expectations,' said Jae-Nam Yun. Foldable panels from Samsung Display are, of course, featured on the Galaxy Z series. The company sells to other smartphone makers too – recently, unofficial info surfaced that Apple has ordered panels for its upcoming foldable. Source
