Texas Woman Kristin Spearman Accused of Stalking for Marrying Ex Without His Knowledge
Police in Beverly Hills, TX, say a woman married her ex-boyfriend without his consent or presence.
She announced the big news along with a package of items from Bath & Body Works, which was delivered to his door, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
Now Kristin Marie Spearman, 36, of Waco, TX, is accused of criminal stalking, the newspaper reported.
Police told the newspaper that Spearman talked a reverend into officiating the marriage "without the knowledge of the victim and his required presence."
In addition, police say Spearman left a copy of the marriage certificate at the man's door, USA Today reported. The newspaper reported that she also left him a photo that showed her holding the marriage certificate.
"Congrats, maybe call your wife," a note said, according to the newspaper.
KXXV-TV named the ex-boyfriend as Christopher Scott Mitchell. The reverend, Lavontis Willis, claims to have been misled, the television station reported.
Police Chief Kory Martin said Spearman was now banned from seeing the man because police want to make sure "this situation does not escalate," according to USA Today.
The reverend who married the couple without the man present is cooperating with police and "has expressed his sincere remorse for the occurrence," the chief said, according to USA Today.
Spearman is even accused of filing the marriage certificate.
The pair was dating for real at one point, but the ex broke it off.
"In that process, it was decided by the victim in this case that he no longer wanted to be in the relationship,' said Martin, according to KXXV.
"Kristin presented to me a valid marriage certificate, dated June 2. Based on that, and on the friendship we shared, I had no reason to doubt her intentions. I truly believed the relationship was genuine and consensual," the reverend told the television station.
"I trusted her—not just as a friend, but as someone I thought shared the same values I try to live by. That was my mistake: assuming others would treat something so meaningful with the same reverence and integrity."Texas Woman Kristin Spearman Accused of Stalking for Marrying Ex Without His Knowledge first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 21, 2025
