'Angry' Democratic Voters Are Urging Lawmakers to 'Storm the White House,' Prepare for 'Blood' in Efforts Against Trump: Report

Frustration over President Donald Trump 's return to power has pushed some Democratic voters to demand increasingly extreme action from their elected officials, including calls to "storm the White House " and prepare for "blood."
Over two dozen House Democrats told Axios they have encountered rising fury at town halls, community meetings, and online, with some constituents urging lawmakers to abandon political norms and embrace more aggressive, even dangerous tactics.
In the words of one congressmember, many voters now believe "civility isn't working," while another said they were told, "there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public."
Another lawmaker said that although people on the internet will say "crazy stuff," they told the outlet that "people online have sent me crazy s*** ... told me to storm the White House and stuff like that."
This wave of anger reflects mounting panic among progressives who see traditional Democratic approaches as ineffective in the face of what they view as Trump's authoritarianism. That desperation has led to demands that some lawmakers describe as reckless and harmful, especially for members of Congress who are women, people of color or part of LGBTQ+ community.
But while the Democratic Party has previously stated that they plan to use this momentum to help the party for the 2026 midterms, one lawmaker told Axios that "people who are angry don't accept that. They're angry beyond things."
Still, grassroots pressure is mounting. Protests at ICE facilities and even rogue impeachment attempts have already begun among some Democrats eager to appease their base.

Rubio Departs For Whirlwind Asia Trip Overshadowed By Tariffs

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio departed for Malaysia on Tuesday for meetings with ASEAN allies, a trip that has been overshadowed by fears of a trade war. The brief trip to Kuala Lumpur is intended to allow Rubio, who is also President Donald Trump's national security advisor, to focus on US policy in Asia after months of Washington concentrating on conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. "In his first trip to Asia as Secretary of State, Secretary Rubio is focused on reaffirming the United States' commitment to advancing a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific region," spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said in a statement, using Washington's traditional wording on curbing China's growing influence in the region. A senior State Department official told reporters that prioritizing and reaffirming Washington's commitment to East Asia and Southeast Asia "is in America's interest." "I think there's been a lot of outreach, a lot of engagements, and I wouldn't judge the level of interest and priority based solely on how many physical trips there have been," the official said on condition of anonymity. As with any trip to Asia by a US official, China will be the elephant in the room amid concerns over its expansionist behavior in the South China Sea, which the United States deems to be provocative. But this visit also comes as many countries around the world fear the imposition of punitive tariffs. Sweeping levies Trump announced in April were mostly suspended, as Washington engages in negotiations with friends and foes alike. On Monday, Trump said he would impose 25 percent tariffs on key US allies Japan and South Korea and a handful of others, including Southeast Asian nations Malaysia (25 percent) and Laos (40 percent), as of August 1. Export-dependent Vietnam, which like Malaysia and Laos is a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), is one of the few countries to already reach a tentative agreement with Washington that spares it the high level of levies that Trump had threatened. At a summit in late May, Southeast Asian leaders expressed their deep concern at Trump's protectionist offensive. The senior US official said the issue was expected to be raised, and that Rubio would likely tell ASEAN that the United States wants to "rebalance" its trade relationships. Rubio's visit to Kuala Lumpur Thursday and Friday coincides with that of his Russian and Chinese counterparts, Sergei Lavrov and Wang Yi. While there, Rubio is scheduled to attend a meeting with his counterparts from ASEAN and with a gathering of both ASEAN and East Asian foreign ministers. Last week, Rubio welcomed foreign ministers from Australia, India and Japan to Washington, where they pledged to work together to ensure a stable supply of critical minerals. China's domination of such resources -- essential to new technologies -- is causing increasing concern in western Europe and the United States.

JD Vance Pushed for Answers on Epstein's 'Wealthiest and Most Powerful' Clients in Resurfaced Tweet

A resurfaced tweet from September 2021 shows now–Vice President JD Vance publicly questioning why the full extent of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein's alleged ties to elite figures was never investigated. "Remember when we learned that our wealthiest and most powerful people were connected to a guy who ran a literal child sex trafficking ring? And then that guy died mysteriously in a jail? And now we just don't talk about it," Vance posted. At the time, Vance also cited an article by columnist Matthew Walther exploring why many Americans were drawn to conspiracy theories like Pizzagate, naming the Epstein scandal as key in fueling public distrust. "Was Trump speaking from personal experience when he said in 2002 that Epstein 'likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side'?" Walther asked in the 2019 article. The resurfaced tweet takes on a new relevance this week as it stands in contrast to the Trump administration's recent Justice Department memo concluding Epstein had no "client list," no blackmail material and died by suicide — findings that have angered many MAGA-aligned commentators who have supported Trump since his 2016 campaign promise to "drain the swamp." With his second election, Trump's pick for FBI Director was Kash Patel, who promised to "roll out the black book" of Epstein's clients "on day one." Trump further signaled his commitment to transparency with an executive order to declassify files related to the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. But action regarding the Epstein files has been less decisive, with suspicion mounting with each delay of revelatory details. Tesla CEO Elon Musk heightened speculation when he accused the president of refusing to release the Epstein files because of his alleged personal involvement. Musk later deleted the tweet, but continues to comment critically about the administration's handling of the declassification process. With the DOJ now insisting there's nothing to reveal, the administration's previous messaging on Epstein faces renewed scrutiny. Vance's past misgivings regarding the "wealthiest and most powerful people" associated with Epstein only fuel skepticism of the DOJ's insistence that there's nothing to reveal. Vance has not publicly addressed the apparent tension between his past call for accountability and the administration's current official stance. Originally published on Latin Times
