TV channel that launched careers of celebrities quietly axed after 30 years
First launched in 1997, it is responsible for launching the careers of the likes of Cat Deeley, Emma Willis, and Maya Jama.
Bosses have said that the channel 'will still have a presence' but there will be no more original music content.
A source told The Sun that generic US shows will be aired alongside rolling music videos on the channel.
Original series Gonzo and Fresh Out UK are among the casualties of the channel shake-up.
'Everyone at MTV is gutted. To say there has been a bloodbath of cuts would be an understatement,' the insider continued.
'Staff have been left in tears as some have been there for decades.
'Those that are left fear more doom and gloom could be around the corner.'
A spokesman told The Sun that Gonzo and Fresh Out UK would be 'sunset' beginning this month.
'We are deeply grateful to our hosts Jack Saunders and Becca Dudley, the talented artists who have been a part of these series, as well as the teams who brought them to life,' they said.
'Fans can continue to enjoy global music shows like the MTV VMAs, STANS and Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now on MTV and Paramount+, alongside digital music content on our MTV UK social channels.'
It comes after the European Music Awards were axed for 2025 by the broadcaster.
It was announced in February that the 2025 MTV EMAs, as well as a slew of other award ceremonies, would be paused by Paramount Global.
CMT Music Awards, the MTV Latin America's MIAW Awards, and the Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards in Mexico will also be put on hold. More Trending
In a statement, Paramount Global executive Bruce Gillmer said that the decision was in order to 'reimagine and optimise our events slate going forward.'
He added: 'Our world-class events remain a key component of Paramount's music offering as we continue to raise the bar in delivering iconic, unforgettable performances and moments that drive pop culture.
'We have the best team in the business, and we are grateful for your hard work and dedication in bringing these events to life.'

The Repair Shop's Jay Blades charged with two counts of rape
Former star of The Repair Shop, Jay Blades, has been accused of two counts of rape. Police confirmed the allegations against the star who fronted the BBC show for seven years before stepping back in 2024. It was also confirmed that the host, 55, is set to appear in court next week. 'Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape. 'He is due to appear at Telford magistrates' court on 13 August 2025,' a spokesperson for the West Mercia Police told The Sun. It was announced that Blades was taking a step back from the show in May 2024, soon after he split from his wife. Blades' wife, Lisa Marie Zbozen, shared on social media that their marriage was over after 18 months. In her message, she said that she felt 'incredibly sad about the whole thing', adding: 'I don't think I've ever cried so much'. It was then reported that while The Repair Shop was continuing to film, Blades was 'having a break' from the production. 'Jay has taken a step back and is having a break from filming The Repair Shop,' a source told The Sun. 'His uncle's death in March and the breakdown of his marriage means he has decided to take some time out.' In October, Blades was charged with engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, with allegations coming from his estranged wife, Zbozen. Blades pleaded not guilty to the charges. The charge against Blades alleges his behaviour had a serious effect' on his partner. Judge James Burbidge KC rejected an application for part of the proceedings to be heard in private, before adjourning the case with a possible trial date of May 6 next year. Jack Osbourne says he ‘doesn't have a great relationship' with older sister Aimee
Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne's eldest daughter Aimee is known to lead a more private life and is not very close with her two siblings, Jack and Kelly. Jack Osbourne has candidly opened up about his relationship with his rarely seen older sister Aimee following their dad Ozzy Osbourne's death. The Prince of Darkness, who was a father-of-six, passed away at 76-years-old on July 22. A funeral cortege took place in his home city of Birmingham on July 30 before the rock icon was privately laid to rest in Buckinghamshire with Sir Elton John, Marilyn Manson and Youngblud all in attendance. The siblings reunited alongside their mother and Ozzy's beloved wife Sharon Osbourne as the family were snapped looking visibly emotional while they said their final goodbye to the Black Sabbath star. Aimee, 41, is the oldest Osbourne child but is the least known, after turning down the chance to star in the family's iconic reality show The Osbournes alongside her parents and two siblings. Instead Aimee chose to move out of their family home at just 16-years-old and pursue a music career instead. Jack, 39, who is just two years younger than Aimee, recently spoke about their relationship on the Disrespectfully podcast. He admitted that he and his older sister are 'not close at all'. Talking about her decision not to appear in their MTV show, which aired from 2002 until 2005, he said: "Back then she really wanted to be a musician and the kind of musician she wanted to be was like a Fiona Apple, Mazzy Star, like this kind of obscure, mysterious, moody… "And she deemed doing a show on MTV as low-hanging fruit. She was like, 'I'm not going to be seen riding coat-tails,' kind of thing, that's how she perceived it. "Once the show was hugely successful, I think she was kind of like, 'Well I can't now come on because I don't want to be seen even more so as jumping on the bandwagon'. And she dug her heels in and wanted to be relatively private and obscure." He went on to reiterate that they 'don't have a great relationship' as he opened up on the differences in their careers. He continued: "I've never asked her outright, 'Do you regret it'' I think there must be a level of like, 'Hey, my life would have probably been different than what it is if I'd done that', so I don't know, I think I would feel like I would have regretted it." Meanwhile Kelly, 40, previously said that she and Aimee also 'don't tall' after having a strained relationship over the years. During an interview on the Armchair Expert podcast in 2021, she said: "We're just really different. She doesn't understand me and I don't understand her". A year before, Aimee told New York's Q1043 Out of the Box how important privacy was for her after growing up with a famous father. She said: "For me, I had grown up around having a pretty well-known dad anyway, and … I always really valued my privacy within that family. "And for me personally, and for who I am, you know, as far as morally and also just to give myself a chance to actually develop into a human being as opposed to just being remembered for being a teenager, it didn't really line up with what I saw my future as." She continued: "It definitely worked great for the rest of my family, but for me, and who I am, I just knew it was never something that I would have been able to consider realistically." Sharon, 72, has previously opened up about her eldest child's decision to move out when she was just 16, which she said she now understands but admits it 'broke her heart'.
