Sharp Seiryo AH-SI9V3B 1.5 Ton AC review: Neat design, efficient cooling without fuss

Japanese electronics maker Sharp made its comeback in the Indian market with a range of new air conditioners earlier this year. I have been using the Sharp 1.5 Ton inverter AC (Seiryo AH-SI9V3B) for the last month or so, and here's my detailed take on how it performed in the hot Delhi summers and whether it's worth your money. Installation The installation process for the Sharp AC was relatively smooth. Just a day after receiving the product, I got a call from a Sharp technician, and the installation was completed the very next day. In case you're wondering, the AC comes with 20ft of copper pipe, which should be more than enough for most people, and the rest of the material needed for installation is included in the box. All you need to buy separately are the metal holders for the outdoor unit and a drainage pipe, along with some screws to hold everything in place—pretty standard stuff. Design The Sharp AC indoor unit looks almost inconspicuous and settles easily into most rooms thanks to its white colour and lack of flashy branding. If you're looking for a product that makes a statement with colour options or design, this isn't it. There's a Sharp branding in the middle, a display on the right, and electric readings on the far right. Some warranty stickers (easily removable) sit on the left, and a grey horizontal line with slight model branding runs along the bottom. The outdoor unit is devoid of any plastic, feels sturdy, and looks like what you'd expect from most ACs—and that isn't a bad thing in my book. Sharp 1.5 Ton AC Sharp AC outdoor unit Sharp AC outdoor unit Performance and Verdict Honestly, before testing this AC, I wasn't sure it would handle the peak Delhi summer heat, with temperatures reaching over 45°C. The Sharp AC, however, left me pleasantly surprised as it not only managed to cool down my room within minutes, even during peak heat, but also provided consistent coverage throughout the space. The AC operates very quietly, so if you're planning to shoot a video or record audio, there shouldn't be much noise coming from the unit. It comes with 5-in-1 convertible technology, adjustable using the provided remote, allowing you to change cooling capacity from 40% to 110% based on your room's needs. There's also a 7-stage filtration system, including a dust filter, PM 0.3 filter, and anti-bacterial filter, among others. While I didn't have the equipment to test whether it reduced air pollution, the unit did seem to reduce dust slightly, making the air feel cleaner. One thing to note is that the included remote isn't of the best quality. While it has all the standard options, there is no support for Wi-Fi or smart home apps like Alexa or Google Home. Sharp AC remote At a price of ₹38,500, the Sharp 1.5 Ton Seiryo AH-SI9V3B AC presents a compelling option for anyone looking for a new air conditioner to beat the heat. While it lacks smart home connectivity and its long-term customer service experience remains to be seen, the affordable pricing, quiet performance, and features like 5-in-1 convertible technology and additional filters make it a standout option for sub- ₹40,000 buyers.

Xiaomi QLED TV FX Pro review: Friendly, functional, and delivers where it matters most

Let me be honest with you. With the QLED TV FX Pro, Xiaomi has surprised me big time. Going into it, I knew its market price but when I got to unboxing and setting it up, I was blown away with what I saw. This TV looks and feels much more expensive than it truly is. Then, when you get down to experiencing it, you meet with even more surprises. Most of them are pleasant but yes, there is also some room for improvement which there always is anyway – there is no such thing as a perfect out of the gate, you should know that the Xiaomi QLED TV FX Pro – despite its long list of features and affordable price tag – isn't for everybody. It runs Fire TV and so, it is theoretically designed to work well – even better – with Amazon apps and services. Those more comfortable with Google TV software, should look elsewhere. Xiaomi has great affordable options for that audience as well. It doesn't mean folks who've lived with or prefer Android can't switch but it is important to know and understand this distinction when they do and build: Sleek and minimal where it mattersThe QLED TV FX Pro, much like many other Xiaomi TVs, has a clean and minimal look. You will see almost zero bezels and subtle branding, with just a small Xiaomi logo at the bottom of the TV. The device is also not thick and has a generally slim profile. It basically offers a design that feels modern without calling for too much attention. I reckon that it can blend well with most Indian home setups. advertisement Despite its 55-inch size, the TV doesn't feel very bulky to set up, which is nice. Xiaomi includes stands for table-top use, but you can wall-mount it too, so there is flexibility that adapts to your space. Build quality feels premium for the sub-Rs 40,000 price range. Nothing about it screams budget, and that is something you will appreciate every time you enter the there is a decent mix here: 3 HDMI ports (including eARC), two USB 2.0 slots, Ethernet, AV, optical out, and even a headphone jack. It is good to see Xiaomi offering support for an eARC port, as it is useful in cases when you want to connect a soundbar or AV receiver to get lossless audio. I sometimes used a premium soundbar and subwoofer of Sennheiser with the TV, which offered a cinematic audio experience, all thanks to support for eARC port. Plus, HDMI 2.1 opens the door for PS5 users and other gamers who might want faster refresh rates of up to 120Hz for 4K content or 240Hz at 1080p resolution, which is not bad for a TV which is this Big and handy but what's the catch? The remote that comes with the FX Pro is big, functional, and has most of the essentials, but given that this is a Fire TV, two seemingly fan-favourite apps – YouTube and JioHotstar – are missing. Almost all of Amazon services are available at your beck and call. There is an Internet button on the remote as well, which some people might appreciate. The built-in Alexa voice assistant responds well and accurately, so instead of fumbling through menus, you can simply say "Open YouTube/Hotstar" or "Play King Kong on Prime Video," and it works without any lag or stutter. If you are not the type to use voice commands, the remote also has an "Apps" button to quickly access all installed apps with a single neat addition is the "Live" button that switches you from Fire TV to a cable or satellite feed instantly. It is little additions like this that keep the user experience feeling interface: Fast, familiar, and Alexa-poweredThe FX Pro runs Amazon's Fire TV interface, which many users will already know from the Fire TV Stick. It is responsive, intuitive, and doesn't require a learning curve. At no point, the interface feels complicated or cluttered. It is simple to understand. What stands out is Alexa integration. It's not just about asking for launching apps; you can use voice to control your smart home devices, check weather updates, search for songs on YouTube, or search for content on streaming apps by actor names. If you are not able to find a certain setting or feature on the TV, you can simply ask Alexa to search for it. The AI voice assistant hardly registered any errors, and it was able to perform most tasks with the initial commands given to it. advertisementBesides, navigating through the menus, switching between apps, or even fast-forwarding through videos on YouTube was a breeze. I noticed minimal lag or slowdowns. Xiaomi and Amazon have worked well together to optimise the experience, and it Apple AirPlay 2 support is also present, which is nice if you use an iPhone and want to stream content directly. Android users don't need to worry as they have the Miracast feature for the quality: Mostly impressive in its price rangeNow let's talk about what really matters, the display. This is a 4K QLED panel and for the most part, it delivers rich, vibrant colours with impressive contrast and brightness. I didn't see any light bleeding on the panel, which is often an issue in this price range. That is a good movies like King Kong or The Dark Knight, which lean heavily on dark environments and subtle lighting, I was pleasantly surprised to see almost negligible black crush issue. Scenes with shadows and fog maintained enough detail to make the content look fun. The same applied when I watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, an older film with moody tones that still looked great on this are a few things that could be better though. Like for instance, since the panel is glossy, you can experience glare on occasions, particularly if you place the TV near a window and light (even indoor artificial) is hitting straight at it. Brightness levels while okay, could be higher and viewing angles certainly, wider. MEMC is available but it is a hit or miss mostly. advertisementInterestingly, the TV includes a Filmmaker Mode, which Xiaomi says can disable unnecessary post-processing for a more accurate, cinema-like picture. However, since it is enabled by default and there is no way to check its effectiveness, I could not test it. What I did like was that Xiaomi gives an option to fine-tune the display in settings, like tweaking white balance, tint, and backlight to your liking. This is a nice touch for those who like to on the grey-to-black transitions when moving from the home screen to settings, the gradient wasn't always smooth. But this colour banding issue wasn't visible during regular viewing, and it only stood out when inspecting closely. So, an average user won't likely notice it. Overall, for Rs 39,999, you are getting a great display with lively colours and balanced contrast for binge Room-filling soundThe FX Pro comes with a 34W speaker setup, and in smaller rooms, the sound experience was surprisingly punchy and room-filling. Even at 55 per cent volume, the dialogue was clear, and I didn't feel the need to crank it higher for everyday content. You can expect a well-balanced audio output, and there is no distortion even if you move up to 75 percent volume bass isn't that strong, though. If you are expecting a rumble during explosions or deep scores, you might not be that impressed, but this shouldn't be an issue because of the mid-range price. That said, the TV offers several sound presets, and you can tweak treble and bass to your preference. It's great for most casual viewers, but audiophiles may want to add a dedicated soundbar for that extra Should you buy the Xiaomi QLED TV FX Pro?The Xiaomi QLED TV FX Pro stands out as a compelling option for anyone seeking a premium experience without breaking the bank. It has a colourful 4K QLED panel, Alexa smarts, smooth Fire TV UI, and a solid speaker setup, all packed into a sub-Rs 40,000 price the viewing angles aren't perfect, motion handling could be smoother, and the remote could definitely use a YouTube or a JioHotstar shortcut but none of these are dealbreakers in the mid-range segment. In fact, they are easy to live with when you consider what you are getting you have a small to mid-sized room, this 55-inch model might even feel like a theatre setup once the lights are off. And if you are in a slightly bigger room, pair it with a soundbar and you have got a home entertainment system that punches well above its in all, the Xiaomi FX Pro proves that you don't need to spend a fortune to get a satisfying big-screen experience. It's not flawless, but as the headline says – it is friendly, functional, and delivers where it matters most.- EndsMust Watch
