Peter Tobin documentary on how cops caught evil Scots serial killer soars up BBC download charts
A TV documentary on Peter Tobin is one of BBC Scotland's most requested downloads after being viewed more than a million times.
The Hunt For Peter Tobin examines how three missing persons cases led to the capture of one of Scotland's most evil killers.
The Sunday Mail exclusively revealed the last photo of Tobin in which he lay handcuffed to a bed seriously ill.
The monster, serving a whole life term for killing Vicky Hamilton, Dinah McNicol and Angelika Kluk, died the next month, aged 76, in October 2022.
Released in March and available on BBC iPlayer, the documentary is now ranked as one of the top 20 most-watched this year.
A BBC Scotland spokeswoman said: 'The Hunt for Peter Tobin is currently in the Top 20 'most requested' of 2025 with over 1.1m streaming requests.'
The show reveals how it was only after his 2006 arrest for the rape and murder of Polish student Angelika Kluk, 23, that cops became convinced Tobin had killed before.
Overseen by Det Supt David Swindle, taskforce Operation Anagram was set up.

Following the programme's release, retired Swindle said he was convinced the notorious psychopath had claimed more victims.
Swindle said: 'I am still in no doubt Tobin killed other women.'

And there are plenty more historic sites across the archipelago. Jarlshof Prehistoric and Norse Settlement is among the most iconic. Situated in Sumburgh on the Mainland, it is home to remains that date all the way back to 2500 BC. For those interested in visiting Shetland, the archipelago can be reached by either air or sea. Travellers can catch ferries to Shetland from Aberdeen, or flights from various Scottish airports.

Schools affected by West Lothian cyber attack named
Social work reports are among the data that has been stolen in a cyber attack on 12 Scottish schools. West Lothian Council has confirmed for the first time the individual schools impacted by a ransomware attack in local authority said reports shared by social work and other agencies were compromised and that it was also "possible" that names and addresses of pupils were taken. The cyber attack, which mainly affects secondary schools, is under police investigation and parents have been urged to remain extra vigilant of phishing attacks or scams. West Lothian Council said only a very small proportion of the files compromised were of a personal and sensitive local authority said it was possible that names, addresses, email addresses and learning materials were amongst the data taken from the affected deemed at risk from the social work and other agency reports that have been compromised have already been contacted, the council said in a update on its website. BBC Scotland News reported in May that a group called Interlock claimed it was behind the groups operate by using malicious software to encrypt an organisation's files, then demand a payment with a threat to publish the material online if no ransom is paid. Locals urged to check sheds for missing man who vanished a week ago
Jonathan Parsons was last seen at around 7.15am on Thursday July 3. Police Scotland are carrying out searches in a river and woodlands for a missing man who vanished a week ago. Jonathan Parsons, 40, from Huntly, was last seen in Yule Square at around 7.15am on Thursday July 3. His vehicle was discovered at Battle Hill car park, with the force now carrying out extensive searches in Huntly, the River Bogie and Battle Hill Woods areas. Local residents have been asked to check their sheds and out buildings in case he has taken shelter there. Jonathan, who goes by Jay, is described as around 5ft 7in tall with brown hair. He was last spotted wearing blue trousers, boots and carrying a green rucksack. Inspector Barry Stewart said: 'We are concerned for Jay's welfare and enquiries are ongoing to trace him. Extensive searches are ongoing in Huntly, as well as the River Bogie and Battle Hill Woods areas. 'We are appealing to anyone who may have seen him, or knows where he may be, to come forward. 'We also ask local residents to check their sheds and out buildings in case he has sought shelter.'
