The Sunday Mail exclusively revealed the last photo of Tobin in which he lay handcuffed to a bed seriously ill.

The monster, serving a whole life term for killing Vicky Hamilton, Dinah McNicol and Angelika Kluk, died the next month, aged 76, in October 2022.
Released in March and available on BBC iPlayer, the documentary is now ranked as one of the top 20 most-watched this year.
A BBC Scotland spokeswoman said: 'The Hunt for Peter Tobin is currently in the Top 20 'most requested' of 2025 with over 1.1m streaming requests.'
The show reveals how it was only after his 2006 arrest for the rape and murder of Polish student Angelika Kluk, 23, that cops became convinced Tobin had killed before.
Overseen by Det Supt David Swindle, taskforce Operation Anagram was set up.

The idyllic Scottish island region that was named safest in the country

The archipelago is perfect for a summer getaway. Every part of Scotland experiences crime in various forms. However, some regions have significantly higher crime rates than others. As reported by the Daily Record, the Scottish Government published its yearly Recorded Crime in Scotland report. The report details the crime rate in each council area in Scotland in 2024-25. ‌ Glasgow City was revealed to be the area of Scotland with the highest crime rate over the past year. In Scotland's largest city, there were 829 crimes per 10,000 population recorded. ‌ On the other hand, Shetland was named as the region with the lowest crime rate. In 2024-25, there were just 180 crimes recorded per 10,000 people. Shetland also saw the biggest decrease in crime from the previous year. The crime rate in the area fell 17 per cent from 2023-24. The Shetland Islands is an archipelago situated between Orkney, the Faroe Islands, and Norway, and is the most northerly part of the UK. There are hundreds of islands in the council area, though less than 20 are inhabited. Overall, Shetland is home to a population of around 23,000 people. The archipelago's largest settlement is Lerwick on the east coast of the Shetland Mainland, which has been its capital since 1708, when it took the title from the village of Scalloway. For people visiting Shetland for a holiday, Lerwick is a popular starting point for exploring the islands. It offers a wide range of amenities, and lots to see and do. ‌ Top attractions in Lerwick include the Shetland Museum and Archives, which is beside Mareel multi-purpose entertainment centre, and Fort Charlotte. The Shetland Museum and Archives is an award-winning centre that details the story of Shetland's heritage and culture through incredible exhibits, while Fort Charlotte is an artillery fort dating back to the 17th century. ‌ Meanwhile, Lerwick is also renowned for its food scene. Around town, there are various restaurants and cafés that serve up top-quality cuisine. One of the top food spots in town is Fjarå Café Bar, which serves up everything from coffee and sandwiches during the day to burgers and cocktails at night. Elsewhere, No 88 Kitchen and Bar offers a menu totally based on the best local seasonal produce and seafood. Outside of Lerwick, Shetland is known for its jaw-dropping beauty spots. Across the islands, there are countless picturesque beaches and fascinating historical sites. ‌ One of the most spectacular bays on the archipelago is West Sandwick on Yell, which is the second biggest island in Shetland after the Mainland. West Sandwick is a white sand beach that has previously won a Beach Award from Keep Scotland Beautiful, and offers breathtaking views of the North Sea. Another popular Shetland bay is Skaw Beach on the island of Unst. The beach, which is famous for being the most northern in Britain, is backed by a meadow of wild flowers during spring and summer. ‌ St Ninian's Isle beach is one of the most iconic and beautiful places in Shetland. The sand causeway that links the mainland to the uninhabited St Ninian's Isle is the largest tombolo in the UK. A hoard of 8th Century treasure was found in the ruins of a 12th Century chapel on the island during an excavation in 1958. It is suspected to have been buried to hide it from a Viking raid. And there are plenty more historic sites across the archipelago. Jarlshof Prehistoric and Norse Settlement is among the most iconic. Situated in Sumburgh on the Mainland, it is home to remains that date all the way back to 2500 BC. For those interested in visiting Shetland, the archipelago can be reached by either air or sea. Travellers can catch ferries to Shetland from Aberdeen, or flights from various Scottish airports.
