Jo Whiley felt ‘tingles' when Oasis played in her studio for first time
She said she felt 'tingles' when the group, fronted by brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, then went on to play a live session in the studio.
Ahead of their reunion tour, which kicks of on Friday, Whiley reminisced about the early days of the Manchester-based band with fellow DJ Sara Cox, who was standing in for Scott Mills on his Radio 2 breakfast show.
Whiley said: 'I remember our producers said (then-Oasis manager) Alan McGee has got this record. It's really good.
'He says this band are amazing, you've got to play it.'
Whiley said the song was Columbia, adding: 'Then they came in and did a session. It was so beautiful, you can just see the star quality.
'You could feel the charisma and the tension between the brothers.
'They did Live Forever, and it was unbelievable.
'I'm going to play that on my show tonight because we're doing this big Oasis show this evening.
'I just remember sitting there, watching them, listening to Liam singing Live Forever, and just thinking tingles, proper tingles, I'll never forget it.'

Oasis, who split in 2009 after a backstage brawl between the Gallagher brothers at a festival, confirmed their long-awaited reunion in August 2024.
Cox joked about how it was down to Whiley that Oasis have reformed after she suggested to Liam when he came on her radio show in more recent years that he call Noel.
'It's basically down to you,' Cox said.
Whiley said her Radio 2 show on Thursday evening will be an Oasis special, 'just to get people excited about the gigs'.

She asked listeners to get in touch and share their memories of the band, while she will also be playing archive clips.
'It's important because they mean so much to so many people. People have grown up with them,' she added.
The long-awaited Oasis Live '25 tour kicks off in Cardiff on Friday before a run of shows in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.

Oasis' plans for Cardiff just hours before doors open at Principality Stadium
Noel and Liam Gallagher are set to reunite with Oasis for the first time in over a decade in Cardiff and fans can expect a bumper two hour setlist to sing along to The wait is almost over – Oasis is back and Cardiff is ready for it. The reunion tour that seemed half the world away last year is about to kick off, and over 74,000 people will pile into the Welsh city's Principality Stadium on Friday night. Such is the anticipation ahead of Noel and Liam Gallagher's arrival back on the main stage together that fans have already started to camp out. It marks the first of 17 nights across the UK, with fans set to flock to London, Manchester and Edinburgh too. There will also be a set in Dublin before the band takes the show on the road to North America, Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Chile and Argentina. But the here and now sees Wales ready for action. And there are big plans already in place. Here is what we know so far... Arriving and exiting Cardiff Preparations have gotten underway in Cardiff ahead of tomorrow's first show. With over 74,000 fans expected to descend on the Welsh capital, officials have started preparing. With many expected to arrive by train, the stunning area outside the station has been fitted with metal railings, ensuring that there is no shoving and fighting to get into the station first. With doors for the stadium opening at 5pm, fans can treat themselves to some brilliant warm-up acts. The first support act Cast warm up the crowd at 6pm, shortly followed by Verve frontman and friend of the Gallaghers, Richard Ashcroft will then take to the stage at 7pm. Then, as the anticipation reaches fever pitch the time Oasis reunite live has now been confirmed as 8.15pm. They are set to play for just over two hours before they will end the set for a 22.30pm curfew. It's thought there will be 24 songs for the crowd to enjoy. Cardiff gets Oasis fever as tour starts at Principality Stadium

"All of the gigs have been great for us. We rely on all the tourism in the city and it just keeps us busy, so the more gigs the better for us." Neil Collins, who co-hosts the Welsh Music Podcast, said: "It's pretty amazing that it's becoming a sort of given that we will have these acts recently and it's because it's completely normalising Cardiff as being the place for huge events that extends to sport as well."I think it's quite inspiring really that you know there's so much music at your fingertips all across the city, from grassroots all the way through to the huge gigs."It's absolutely huge. it's no understatement to say that the eyes of the world will be on Cardiff on Friday night." South Wales Police Insp Adrian Snook said the force was "well-versed" in organising these events, which "puts Cardiff in a really good, positive light"."We have planned for this event like we do any other major event in the city - there will be numerous forces and departments working in the city centre this weekend," he added. "It's to make sure those visiting Cardiff can do so in a safe way and enjoy the concert whilst they are in Cardiff."We are expecting large amounts of people very excited to see a band they have wanted to see for a number of years and we think the majority of people coming will be looking to enjoy a really good night out in Cardiff."
