Heavy rain leads to severe waterlogging, traffic snarls in Delhi, Gurgaon
Waterlogging and traffic disruptions were reported from several parts of the city, including Nehru Place, Aurobindo Marg, Kailash Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Siri Fort Road, the Chirag Delhi flyover, Outer Ring Road, G K Marg, Rail Bhawan, Akshardham, Ashram, ITO, Pul Prahladpur, M B Road, M G Road, Old Rohtak Road, Shadipur, Madhuban Chowk and National Highway 8.
Between 5:30 pm and 8:30 pm, the Najafgarh weather station recorded 60 mm of rainfall, followed by Aya Nagar (50.5 mm), Pragati Maidan (37 mm), North Campus (22 mm), Pusa (30 mm), Palam (14.4 mm), IGNOU (11.5 mm), Janakpuri (4 mm), Naraina (6.5 mm) and Lodhi Road (1.5 mm).
Meanwhile, the primary weather station at Safdarjung recorded just 1.4 mm of rainfall.
Earlier in the day, there was no alert for the city but by afternoon, an "orange" alert was issued. In the latest weather update, the alert was further escalated to "red".
The IMD said moderate to intense rainfall, accompanied by a moderate thunderstorm and lightning, is very likely to occur across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
Delhi on Wednesday recorded a minimum temperature of 26.4 degrees Celsius, with the weather office predicting moderate rain.
The relative humidity at 8.30 am was 81 per cent.
The maximum temperature is expected to settle at 34 degrees Celsius.

Dry run continues, Indore is 26% rain deficit as of now
Indore: A prolonged dry spell during the first 11 days of July led to a significant rainfall deficit in several districts of western Madhya Pradesh, including Indore, where rainfall was 26% below average till Friday. According to the Meteorological Office in Indore, the city recorded only 155.6 mm of rainfall so far, compared to the seasonal average of 209.4 mm. Other districts facing similar shortfalls include Agar-Malwa (29% deficit), Burhanpur (26%), Shajapur (27%), and Ujjain (19%). Dewas district fared slightly better, recording a marginal 8% deficit, while Khargone was almost normal with just a 1% shortfall. Several other districts in the region received excess rainfall this season. Alirajpur topped the chart with a remarkable 116% excess rainfall, having recorded 466.3 mm so far against a normal of 215.8 mm. Ratlam (80% excess), Jhabua (77%), Neemuch (59%), and Barwani (16%) also witnessed significantly above-normal precipitation. Mandsaur recorded 207 mm, 15% above the average. Khandwa remained balanced with near-normal rainfall. Goa gets 50 inches of rainfall this season as monsoon stays weak
Panaji: Goa received 50 inches of rainfall so far this season, reaching the milestone within 40 days. A total of 1,271.2mm of average rainfall was recorded in Goa from June 1 until 8.30 am on Friday. 'Monsoon has been generally weak except for a couple of extreme rainfall events in June and July. There is a deficit in monsoon this season by 1% compared to the all-India excess, which is at 12%,' said meteorologist and retired NIO scientist Ramesh Kumar. 'Even though the onset was in May this year, the monsoon has not been up to the mark. In July especially, except for July 2, the monsoon season has been weak to normal over Goa,' he said. The IMD has also cautioned that squally weather with wind speeds of 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60kmph, is expected to prevail over many parts of the South Maharashtra–Goa coast from July 13 to 15. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along the affected coastal areas during this period due to rough sea conditions and the risk of strong winds.
