Heaven Hill Distillery, America's largest family-owned and operated distillery, has released its highly anticipated Second Edition of Heaven Hill Grain to Glass Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
Each annual edition of Heaven Hill Grain to Glass features a unique corn seed varietal, chosen in collaboration with Beck's Hybrids of central Kentucky. The 2025 release features corn seed varietal Beck's 6225 and was grown by family-owned Peterson Farms on one of two sites in Nelson County, Kentucky. Made up of 52% corn, 35% rye and 13% malt, this unique mash bill has a higher secondary grain content than Heaven Hill Distillery's traditional bourbon recipe and was aged for six years at Heaven Hill's Cox's Creek site.
"In 2017, we embarked on a journey to create a one-of-a-kind Grain to Glass Whiskey by partnering with family-owned seed companies and farms," Max Shapira, executive chairman of Heaven Hill Brands, said in a news release. Heaven Hill Grain to Glass is a testament to the important legacy of family farmers, who are the lifeblood of our country."

Whiskey Of The Week: Old Fitzgerald 7 Yr. Old Bottled-In-Bond Bourbon
Old Fitzgerald bourbon has earned the 'Old' in its name — it's been around since the late 1800s, even before the Bottled In Bond Act of 1897 created the category for which Old Fitz is known. Today, vintage bottles, distilled at the famed Stitzel-Weller distillery between the 1930s and early '90s, sell for a small fortune on the secondary market. The modern history of Old Fitzgerald begins with its acquisition from Diageo (formerly known as United Distillers) by Heaven Hill in 1999 — the brand came with the Bernheim distillery that Heaven Hill also got in the deal. But the latest chapter really kicks off in 2018, when the Old Fitzgerald Bottled-in-Bond Decanter Series was launched. Released twice annually (bottled-in-bond laws recognize two six-month distilling 'seasons' per year), a big part of the appeal is, to be honest, the gorgeous bottle in which it's housed, a throwback to the elaborate Old Fitz decanters of the 1950s. But the whiskey is worthy of the packaging. Aged between 8-19 years, depending on the bottling, and sporting a mashbill of 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley, it's not the most unique bourbon — the mashbill is the same as that of Larceny, another Heaven Hill wheater. But it's beautifully executed without fail, featuring rich dark fruit notes, oak and spice. If there's been a less-than-excellent one in the bunch, I haven't tried it. The downside to the Decanter Series, for many bourbon buyers, is the price — bottles generally sell for at least a few hundred dollars apiece when they can be found, considerably more for the older bottlings. But the recent slowdown in whiskey sales almost across the board is ushering in what should be a golden age for the people who buy it and drink it, if not for the brands that produce and sell it. When distilleries are stuck with more product than they can unload, that whiskey gets to age in the barrel for longer, and when it's bottled, it's priced more affordably. Old Fitzgerald 7 Year Old Bottled-in-Bond, in the rickhouse from whence it came. Photo courtesy Heaven Hill Is Old Fitzgerald 7 Year Old Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon a product of the slowdown or is its release merely a happy coincidence? Regardless, its appearance is welcome. This is a permanent addition to Heaven Hill's portfolio (though each batch will still be distilled in a single distilling season in accordance with B-in-B rules; the initial batch was distilled in Spring 2018). That eliminates the need to sprint to the liquor store and pay many multiples of its $60 suggested retail price, although a lot of retailers are pricing it as if it's going to disappear tomorrow. At 7 years old, it's a little younger than the youngest offering in the Decanter Series, but it's still three years older than the minimum required age for bonded whiskeys. And while the bottle isn't Decanter Series-level fancy, it's quite an attractive package that does bear a marked similarity to its limited-edition sibling. The 7 Year Old doesn't quite hit the highs that the best Old Fitzes in the Decanter Series achieve, but for a $60 bourbon it's excellent. It's buttery on the tongue, with big notes of caramel and baking spices up front evolving into dried fruit and nuts midpalate, with cinnamon spice and dry oak hitting the back of the tongue. At 100 proof, it's hefty but not overpowering — the hallmark of a quality bonded whiskey. It'll be interesting to see how, and how much, future batches differ from this initial release. In the meantime, I'll be enjoying this one plenty. As should you.

'Today' meteorologist Dylan Dreyer announces split from husband Brian Fichera
NBC meteorologist Dylan Dreyer is splitting from her husband, Brian Fichera. The third hour "Today" cohost announced the couple's separation in a July 18 post on Instagram hours after the show ended Friday, writing over a sunset photograph that "for many years, I have shared my family with you -- the highs and lows, the ups and downs, and all of the blessings and beautiful memories in between." "For that reason, I want to share with you that a few months ago, Brian and I made the decision to spearate," Dreyer wrote. "We began as friends and we will remain the closest of friends. Most importantly, we will continue to co-parent our three wonderful boys together with nothing but love and respect." The "Today" star, 43, and Fichera, 38, who tied the knot in 2012, are parents to three sons: Calvin, Oliver and Rusty. In September that year, the Dreyer joined NBC News from Boston local news station WHDH, where the pair started dating and Dreyer had worked since 2007. She previously worked at other stations in Erie, Pennsylvania, and Providence, Rhode Island. While Fichera is mostly missing from her Instagram posts this year, Dreyer wrote "Happy Father's Day Bri!!" in a June 15 caption featuring a family selfie. "Golf is the thing we do together. We have a couple of drinks, we laugh. We remember why we fell in love," Dreyer told Today. "Then we go home and it's right back to family." It's been a difficult year for NBC's third hour "Today" family. In May, Dreyer's third hour cohost Sheinelle Jones' husband Uche Ojeh died from an aggressive form of brain cancer at 45. "With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our friend and 'Today' co-host Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma," main anchor Savannah Guthrie shared on the "Today" show May 23. In a social media post the same day , Dreyer wrote an open letter "to my dear friend @sheinelle_o …I wish I had the words to help you feel better." "I wish I could help you absorb all the love and prayers we're sending out to you and your family. I'm blessed to have known Uche and this picture sums up the love and support and joy you shared with each other. May your heart be comforted by your memories. You're both in our hearts and on our minds," Dreyer added.

Henry Cavill Confirms Birth of Baby Girl With Girlfriend Natalie Viscuso
Henry Cavill made his first comments about being a dad since welcoming a baby with girlfriend Natalie Viscuso. In an interview with GQ UK published on Thursday, July 17, the actor, 42, was asked what he considered to be the 'most important time of [his] life so far.' 'My daughter being born, and the five of us settling into our forever home,' Cavill responded, referencing himself, Viscuso, their first child and their two dogs. The Man of Steel star also touched on how he balances family and work with such a busy schedule as an actor. Henry Cavill and Girlfriend Natalie Viscuso Welcome Their 1st Baby: Report 'Ordinary life? I'm not sure I remember that! Seriously, though, it can be difficult,' he said. 'Daily routine is not a luxury that I am afforded, but traveling to far flung places and the opportunity to be storytelling at the level that I am makes up for all of it.' Cavill also got philosophical about the concept of time during the interview with the British publication. '[Time] means many, many things. Sometimes I feel like we don't have enough, and sometimes I feel like we have the perfect amount,' he said. 'We can use our time in so many different ways, I try to use it well regardless of how I'm spending it. Spending it — an interesting turn of phrase, no?' Cavill and Viscuso have kept tight-lipped about the newest addition to their family and did not officially announce her birth. A source confirmed the baby's arrival to People after photos published by the Daily Mail in January showed Cavill and Viscuso pushing a stroller in Australia while the actor was Down Under filming the live-action Voltron movie. Cavill confirmed that he and Viscuso were expecting their first child in April 2024. Henry Cavill and Girlfriend Natalie Viscuso Are Expecting 1st Baby: We're 'Very Excited' 'I'm very excited about it,' he told Access Hollywood at the time. 'Natalie and I are both very excited. I'm sure you'll see much more of that.' When asked whether his Ungentlemanly Warfare costar Henry Golding — who shares two daughters with wife Liv Lo — influenced his decision to become a father, Cavill replied with a laugh, 'I mean, he didn't inspire me to do that. My parents did.' Posting via his Instagram on Father's Day 2024, the actor shared a glimpse of the nursery and expressed his excitement about becoming a dad. 'Oh yeah ….. and Happy Father's Day ye dads out there,' he captioned a selfie. The photo featured a room containing baby essentials such as a crib, changing table and rocking chair.
